A solid DVR / WiFi Router Hybrid Appliance for home security - and great customer service
Overall I am a fan of Reolink systems, a big part of that loyalty is the customer service. I have had this NVR product for about 2 years with no real issues, really no issues. I did find the "out of the box" HD a little small, had about 6 camera's and the storage is first in first out, so only got about a week of backup. This year added 3 more camera's / channels, so I upgraded to a high quality Western Digital 10T HD Video grade - big leap forward, getting much better performance and storage with more feeds. Only real negative is range, and options to mitigate (but it still beats my AT&T router in range). The only big issue is the limited options to extend range - netgear type mesh repeaters do not work, Reolink is launching it's own repeater for its wifi products, but it appears the tariffs and really delayed market release.

Nice diy surveillance
Great if you don't want to pay monthly subscriptions. This is pretty nice, taking care of rolling storage and a separate network for all the camera traffic. It's easy to setup, has robust configuration, and otifications work well. The only thing that's a little annoying is that there are 3 separate monitoring UIs that all function a little different. Plugging a monitor directly into the server seems to provide the most features but is the least convenient. There are also mobile and web UIs which are a little different as well. All in all I'm very happy with the system. Reolink has a nice system of cameras at a good value. I started with just a doorbell camera and have been adding more cameras around the house.

Integrated WiFi is terrible
I've had this NVR for almost a year now. I'm using two of the Reolink Duo Floodlight WiFi cameras and the Reolink Doorbell WiFi Camera. As soon as I installed my cameras I knew that a direct connection to the NVR was not going to be possible. The connection was too poor. The camera on the back of my house is like 20ft away (conservatively) and it had no shot. I spent a lot of money trying to get a good connection from my cameras and nothing has worked. I was running Google WiFi Mesh with three different access points throughout the house. I specifically placed one access point as close as possible to the camera on my garage. The connection was still terrible. Since I couldn't turn off the 5ghz band on the Google system, I decided to switch to a TP-Link Deco Mesh system that would allow me to run exclusively on 2.4ghz in hopes that it would connect over a longer distance. As you can see in the picture, the connection is still terrible. The camera on my garage constantly lags behind. The connection will also randomly drop altogether for a few seconds every couple of minutes. I bought this unit and the cameras to go with it to replace Ring WiFi cameras that I had the exact same issue with. It's extremely frustrating that I'm having the same issues after spending probably close to $1000 (NVR, cameras, multiple routers) in hopes of resolving the connection issues. For reference, my phone stays connected all the way to the street and beyond, which is roughly 60ft from the nearest access point. The camera on my garage is about 15ft from the closest access point. My house is a regular suburban colonial. Most people I know have a single router that covers their entire house. I can't understand why a company would make and advertise a WiFi camera system that works so poorly under some of the most average circumstances. On top of all that: -The user interface for the NVR is atrocious. You basically need a computer science degree to use it. There are a million options and you will need to Google what every single one means because they offer no information on the UI. -The motion sensing takes a ton of tweaking to get right and even then it's still finicky. -The Android app will show you what and where is triggering the motion sensor, but the monitor I have connected to the NVR will not. Why? Whyyyyyyyy? -If ever you should try to manually input the WiFi information when connecting to a camera and get it wrong, you have lost the connection forever and you will have to uninstall the camera from wherever you have it set up and bring it to the NVR and connect it directly with an ethernet cable. You will also need a power supply for this if you are using WiFi cameras. Ask me how I know. If you have misplaced the adapter cable for the doorbell, you will have to order a power supply from Amazon because Reolink does not sell that on its website. Now for the positives: -It comes with a large hard drive and overwrites the oldest footage when it's full. -Compared to Ring it's great because it's always recording (as long as you have a connection lol). -I removed a star from my review when thinking about this because my only other positives are about the actual cameras. I don't know what the answer is, but I know it isn't this.

Automatic car and porch person detection without a subscription
Integrated into Home Assistant without issue. Now my cx410w cameras (just purchased) alert my home Assistant system whenever a person hangs around near my porch or car. Best of all, this all runs locally and does not require a subscription (like my Nest cameras do).

Good Buy
Good product. Packaged well. Software does take some getting used to. I used the NVR in conjunction with PTZ's and POE switch. I did not use the wifi feature. However, I was able to navigate and see the features available.

True 24hr NVR captures everything
Totally records all the time, and captures minutes before motion is detected instead of other systems that don't begin recording in time to capture everything. Mobile app works great. Wonderful multi screen viewing on my 70" TV even.

Work great
I have now had the 16ch NVR and indoor/outdoor cameras long enough to write a review. I have used WiFi security cameras in my home in Costa Rica for years and all of them have been problematic. Most homes there are built like Roman fortresses and have issues with Wifi conductivity. After the companies tried to force everyone to the paid cloud I bought the RioLink system and have been 100% pleased conductivity is great even through concrete and they were very easy to set up. An added bonus is that the software is great and can be viewed from PC or mobile devices and it is reliable. Your recordings are stored on your site and not out in the cloud......great system.

Great for the Prosumer
This NVR along with compatible Reolink cameras is a good step up for those who want a trouble-free experience that will work without cloud services or subscriptions. Having dabbled with other brands this NVR makes everything a little easier to manage. It works very well with Home Assistant (despite the dated documentation that says otherwise) and with a little bit of finagling you can add other ONVIF cameras too. The integrated 2TB HD doesn't hold a lot of data and is kind of noisy, but for the 4 cameras i have setup, it's perfectly adequate. As an aside, i chose not to use the WIFI capabilities of this NVR and opted to use my own APs and simply connect the NVR into the rest of the network. Pros: - works great with Reolink cameras - integrates with Home Assistant - can add additional ONVIF cameras Cons: - Web UI is more functional that pretty (use the downloadable app if possible instead) - Wifi acts as standalone AP

Software needs massive improvement!!!
Takes ages to try and locate something, Reolink needs to add a time search function.

NOT Really Wireless
I purchased the recorder to get away from the cloud. I have several Reolink cameras all wireless.. was hoping to put this NVR in the attic of my cottage to store data from the cameras. 1st thing you need to do out of the book it is hardwire it to your router... really. I have a very strong wifi signal all over the property, Really don't need another wireless signal. This is not the product for me or anyone else looking for wireless. It's going back.

Only one choice
I researched for over a week. Reading and watching reviews, read endless product pages, visited product specific forums and got advise from professional security camera installers. Reocam wins by a landslide since it's the only camera recommended by professionals, the bad reviews are mostly haters or people who shouldn't be installing cameras and the only camera suggested in other products forums. I got 4 cameras and 1 wifi nvr and they out performed all the Amazon reviews I read. The common complaint of the short wifi range was way off. And the complaints about the split screen are petty and not a problem at all. The 16mb split veiw camera is the future of security cameras and every other company will have them eventually. At least there's only one company to choose from, now you need to figure out what you want and what's compatible with what.
