Great switchable magnet
Great mechanical switchable magnet. Exceptionally strong when switched on and completely inert when not. Has a good holding capacity. Used a few of them integrated into theatre sets where items have to fall off a wall on cue, and works perfectly for this purpose where budget or safety means an electromagnet isn't suitable for the same purpose.

Strong but only on thick sheet metal
I found this interesting how it turns on and off. The magnet unit is very heavy but small enough to manage. It would fit in a decent size tool box to take with you. The magnet is activated easily by pressing and turning the lever which then engages the magnet on whatever surface you are on. I have tried it on various pieces and it’s only as strong as the material you are fixing to. If it’s thin sheet steel it doesn’t hold strongly. For 3mm thick steel it doesn’t take a massive amount of force to remove it.

Safe magnet
Great bit of kit for me to use as a temp handle Really strong adhesion to metal plates

Faulty Item. Handle would not turn.
Unable to review as item was faulty and I could not get the handle to turn. It is a substantial lump of steel - very heavy and well finished - but unusable.

Does the job
That's neat looking magnet which, when in use, it's really powerful. First of all, we need to screw in the handle. Then if we want to 'activate' the magnet, we need to press the handle down and then rotate it 180⁰, just as the arrows shows on the magnet. The magnet's force starts to work and ypu could feel that it attaches to the metal with huge power. I've tested it on fridge and without deactivating the magnet (turning the handle to off position), I literally couldn't remove it from the surface, that strong it is. The magnet looks nice and it has predrilled holes on sides in case you need to attach some holding frame to it, if more than one magnet you are going to use at once. This is expensive piece of gear but I'm sure we will find many uses of it over the time. Can recommend it.

Strong but fiddly
This is a very strong magnet. It can easily lift the stated weight. It works best when used against a flat metal surface, it's a bit less secure if the magnet is not completely face to face with the metal it is trying to connect to. The magnet is secured and released by a mechanical movement of a sleeve that pushes the magnet away from the metallic item. To use this, you have to turn a handle at the top 90 degrees. This is quite difficult to do, the handle is not comfortable to hold and the movement is difficult to do and notchy. Whilst it's a mechanical process, it is not a fluid one. Overall, this is a really strong magnet and scores positively in that respect, but the handle mechanism lets it down.

Magnetpro Switch Magnet
Highly effective fishing magnet! The fishing magnet I purchased exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and durability. With its strong magnetic force, it effortlessly retrieves metallic objects from water bodies such as lakes, rivers, and ponds. The construction is robust, ensuring that the magnet withstands the rigors of frequent use without losing its effectiveness. I've been impressed by the variety of items I've been able to retrieve, from discarded metal debris to lost items such as keys and tools. Additionally, the magnet's design allows for easy attachment to ropes or cords, facilitating retrieval from deep or hard-to-reach areas. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my fishing magnet purchase, and I highly recommend it to fellow anglers and outdoor enthusiasts.

very strong, versatile, clever, useful (all the good adjectives). Handle a bit hard to turn.
PROS -being able to effectively turn it on and off is really useful -very strong magnet -there are some threads on the case that I could conceivably use with clamps to hold non-ferrous items to a ferrous item CONS -the handle is _very_ difficult to move from the “off” to the “on” position, and vice versa. NOTES -I don’t _think_ it’s an electromagnet (no battery, no external electrical input), So I’m really curious as to how this works! It’s something mechanical, does maybe just moving a permanent magnet up away from the lower surface give enough distance to have a zero magnetic field at that surface? I would find that surprising, given the strength of the magnet. -I suggest to the manufacturer to make the handle a more comfortable, and secure, lifting surface. It’s a bit smooth, perhaps put some knurls in there for fingers to fit in to, and roughen the surface. MY STAR RATINGS: 1* substandard, mostly cons 2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros 3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros 4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons 5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros

I love mine!
so i dont use this in a metal shop, this will be your unconventional review haha. i have tested it on 1/2" steel plate though in our yard and itll lift a pretty decent sized plate, i dont know the exact size of it but if i had to guess maybe 5 sq ft. anywho, im a commercial diver in the mississippi river and we rely on magnets in high current to keep us on our work station if theres nothing to clip/tie onto. now the current of the river kicks pretty good some days, and i dont know exactly how much weight i put on this magnet at times but i can tell you that with it put on a rusted and scaled up piece of 5/8" steel (probably closer to 1/4" and all the way down to 1/8" in some spots) ive been able to hold my body weight (roughly 160lbs) in up to 10mph currents, on this magnet mounted sideways (visualize mounting it above or to the side of your body with all the weight pulling this magnet to the side, which it is strongest when pulled directly up)
