Yes it washes beautifully. I wash it once a week.

I have a double pillow top queen mattress, will a queen size fit enough to be able to tuck in the sides or should I get a king size?

A queen size would fit nicely. I have a queen size on mine.

Is there a way to buy an extra pillow cover for the twin size version?

I'm not sure I got a king size set
