Gritty in a smooth pleasant way
To say my husband loves it is an understatement. It is nice and gritty and gets him clean. It is a bit pricey. But, he keeps dropping hints that he would like more. This will be a stocking stuffer for Christmas. Also, it does look a bit like coal so that only makes it humorous.

You pay for what you get!
Product seems to be working for me. Since my use I've received several compliments in how my face skin appearance has cleared up and has a glow. I now have a daily routine with my face. I was very skeptical at first investing into products that are more expensive than most. But the reward has been beneficial.

Double soap barโcleans and exfoliates.
The Lumin Men's Charcoal Body Soap is a large bar of two completely soaps. This two-in-one bar of soap works for both cleaning and exfoliating. The large white bar of soap has a smaller, round black charcoal soap inside it. The white bar of soap lathers well. It has a light scent of bergamot that is citrusy and fresh. It reminds me slightly of Earl Grey tea, which also contains bergamot. The sales page says that the soap contains both white and black charcoal. Iโm guessing here, but I think the white charcoal is in the white soap, and the black charcoal the black soap. The soap also contains tea tree oil. The bar weighs 7.2 ounces, it will last for a lot of showers. The inner circle of black charcoal exfoliating soap also contains walnut shells. At first, it seems like the exfoliating circle doesnโt do much. After a few uses, it starts to work much better. Maybe there is a soap or film over it that needs to wash away? Once the exfoliating soap starts working, it really works well. I would recommend only using it on places like elbows or heelsโnot sensitive skin. My teenage son and husband both liked the fresh scent. They said the soap lathers well and rinses easily, and the large size bar is convenient, though a little heavy at first. All in all, a nice menโs soap for daily cleaning and for deeper exfoliation.

Scrubs and has a pleasant scent
Right out of the box you can see that this is an attractively designed soap. It has a look to it that accents any modern bathroom. The bar itself is about twice as thick as other soap bars I have used. My hands are average in size and it took a little getting used to hanging on the large bar. Though this soap has a pleasant scent that you just canโt beat. The scent stays with me and makes me smell great all day. There are scrubbing particles in this soap that are released from the black circle in the middle of the bar. The particles feel like sand on my skin as I wash. Itโs not the best feeling but they do scrub my skin and help get it clean. The soap lathers up very well and washes off cleanly. It does not make me feel like I have a film on me. After bathing my skin is clean, soft and slightly dry. The ingredients in this soap are different than what I usually see. I am not sure why it needs to have Sucrose in it. And I would feel more comfortable using this soap if it did not have some ingredients like: Dyproplyene Glycol, PEG-45M and Titanium Dioxide. While this soap bar is large and may last twice as long as other soaps the price is still more than twice as much as I would normally pay for bar soap. For the most part I like this soap. It does get me clean and leave me smelling great. But due to its price and the ingredients it will only be a once in a while soap for me.

Charcoal face bar with grit!
I ordered the "Face Bar" version of this Lumin Men's soap - the one with the triangle on it. The sleek monotone look is very rock n' roll, it's giving Pink Floyd / Dark Side of the Moon vibes. The bar arrived plastic-wrapped inside its box, which was disappointing - I've received so many soap bars that are plastic-free. Maybe this one needs extra protection from moisture because of the walnut shell powder? But it feels very wasteful. :-( But back to the walnut shell powder - this soap has some GRIT! The side with the white triangle is the "smooth" side of the bar and feels like every other charcoal soap I've ever used, with very gentle exfoliation. The back side of the bar is solid black and it's the scrubber side of the bar - it's very coarse and rough and will definitely slough some of your skin off if you press too hard! The bar has a mild pleasant scent and, while it's definitely not the most moisturizing soap I've ever used, it doesn't dry my skin out excessively either. It's a really nice (albeit pricey) cool-looking bar of soap and a scrub all-in-one!

The scent and it's exfoliating are "bar" none!
I gotta admit something. I never used anything designed specifically for my face/beard. I've always used just body washes and the like for my whole body and face. That changes today. You can totally feel a difference when you use an exfoliating soap, and this one has become my absolute favorite. My girlfriend LOVES the smell on me, and the design of the bar is very fancy. The soap is very simple to use as well: You can either rub up a lather in your hands, then proceed to rub the foamy soap onto your skin, or do what I like to do, and take the whole bar, and scrub it into your face. There is a generous amount of grit to the soap, that you can really feel it opening up your pores and scrubbing away the dead skin and oils. Those walnut shells they pack into the soap truly make the difference. This is going to be my go to face soap going forward. The picture I took is after one use in the shower. I really want people to see how much grit is in the soap.

Looks great, Smells great, and most importantly does a good job - even on sensitive skin.
The Lumin deep scrub face bar came in a small box. When opening the box you are presented with a cuboid shaped block wrapped in a protective plastic. When wrapped you could smell a pleasant smell, and as the wrapper was removed the aroma intensified. Despite the strong aroma it did dissipate after a few minutes, so was not overwhelming. Before using the bar it has a nice feel in the hand, and looks excellent with its crisp black and inset white triangle. Obviously the appearance of the bar is not all that important, but it is appealing and looks much better than your typical bar of soap. (and I don't mind it remaining out on display in my soap dish!) The black surface feels abrasive, and the white inset triangle has a much softer and smoother feel. As you wet the bar and start to form a lather you can better feel the abrasive characteristic of the black soap. I have very sensitive skin and found that I wouldnโt want to rub for long, however, with that said it only took a small amount of time to make a noticeable impact on the softness of my skin, and I can only assume the white moisturizer helped on that front. Obviously one โtreatmentโ will not make a meaningful difference, but after using the bar for about one week I do notice a real difference in the feel of my skin. I was concerned that the black colour would show on my skin and perhaps even leave a residue โ this was simply not the case. You will see in one photo that the lather is not too black and the product is very easy to rinse away. I did not use the white section specifically against my skin, but it seems to contribute to the overall lather, and when the side with the white insert was rubbed directly on the skin it was less rough - so was good for more sensitive areas. One week in and there is very little wearing down of the bar, it clearly will last a good long time. Overall Verdict? Nice smell, works well to exfoliate and seems to have left my face softer. I recommend this product.

Great scent, smooth soft skin
This Lumin soap bar is the biggest bar of soap I've ever seen. I'm a woman, and I actually have a tough time hanging onto this soap in the shower, because it's just too large for my hands. My husband doesn't have this problem. The soap smells really nice! It contains tea tree oil, but it doesn't smell overwhelmingly like tea tree oil. It's more an herbal scent - quite light, doesn't linger. The soap lathers well and rinses cleanly. It doesn't strip my skin, like a lot of bar soaps have the tendency to do. The black dot in the center of the soap is exfoliating. Very cool! It makes it easy to exfoliate where needed (elbows, knees) and then I just flip the bar over (all white side) to wash the rest of my body. It's so convenient being able to wash and exfoliate with the same product. This gigantic 205 gram bar of soap is quite dense. Bar soap tends to shrink/dissolve when stored in the shower, but not this one. The bar stays firm and intact while using it, it doesn't get squishy and fall apart. No waste. Verdict: recommended.

It's not bad at all, and does in fact help your skin
I held off reviewing for about a month, used this bar nearly every day now and can tell you there are some good and bad things. Overall, yes, for ten bucks you should grab one to check it out. The bar has a charcoal center that is essentially useless except for your elbows or heels, and the grit that comes off very easily crumbling while scrubbing and might get annoying. It was and is for me as I don't let my skin get to dinosaur hardness level to need a rock to scrape it off. In addition, having it at the center of the bar limits where else you can use it so this is a bit annoying overall. The bar is made from different ingredients as it does in fact moisturize the skin and you do feel not as dry when toweled off, it's not greasy but it's clear it's doing something better than say a name brand bar if you switch as a test one on each arm then later see how dry your skin is - this bar wins. But due to this err...formula they used it's QUITE ANNOYING to lather up by hand, which is why it's going to last quite a while. This was solved by having the gf wash me ha. I guess if you toss this into some luffa scrub thing it might work better but using the bar alone I would have liked to not superset in the shower scrubbing and rather wash myself relaxed instead. Pics are before/after and labeled to show you, also someone commented on the smell. YES when you open the box it's an intoxicating old world smell... tea and something I can't place it either!! Sadly it wears off 2-3 days later and the bar doesn't really have any scent afterwards. That's alright though still works a bit better and feels better on the skin than other "regular bars at the local store". To the company - I saw you made a circle black/white reverse bar. Nice, I won't but that due to my comment above, who has that much dino skin I don't know?? I would however buy and stock some solid white bars though, no black!! So just some thoughts for your next product in the lineup.

I like it but it it has it's flaws
These Lumin soaps are pretty interesting for including two different bars into one, and making them in specific shape so that you know which product is for hair (round), which one is for face (square), and which one is for body (rectangle). All this is really smart. They also frankly smell great! They do lather pretty well, and because they are quite well moisturizing the cleaning performance isn't aggressive enough to get rid of all the oils and sebum secreted but most of the time only really specific problem areas need a second wash, so that's pretty impressive given how well they moisturize. When I say they are two bars combined together is because the black and the white portions are different: the black bar has a grittier texture for scrubbing while the while part has more of a moisturizing function. Both are soaps but the white part is the main soapy bit, or at least the one that behaves most like soap. The problem I find is that the two materials do not wear down at the same pace, and they don't necessarily come flush from production either. When it comes to the black scrubber part, the face bar and the body bar seem to have similar heavy grits which I find work great in some parts of the body but others it feels a bit too aggressive, the hair bar's scrubber is a very fine grit that does not damage the hair. In general I've found the white part to go out quite a bit quicker than the scrub. In the case of the face bar and the hair bar, because our head has a lot more convex curves/shapes the center definitely wears out more quickly. On the hair car that means the black part wears out a bit quicker and on the face bar it means the white part definitely wears out quicker and you are left scraping your face with a square with a triangle donut hole. The body bar suffers less of this due to having to deal with larger surfaces as well as both convex and concave shapes, the natural tendency of the white part of the soap wearing out quicker means it leaves you with an aggressive scrub that protrudes. So although I do enjoy these overall I find this idea and implementation to be a little bit difficult to use often times. It is also fairly expensive but at least the soap does otherwise perform pretty well and the smell is really enjoyable too! I just think that the scrub on the face and body bars could be a little bit finer since in my experience some of the more sensitive parts of the skin does find it a little too rough to use comfortably.

Good Product
This soap is huge in size. A normal person is hard to hold it tight with one palm and apply the soap on body. I prefer half of the size and one piece can be divided into two. Other than that, the body soap is very mosturizing and you have a deep clean feeling after using it. There is no scent to smell which is good for the people who has scent allergy.
