If you're looking to benchmark and track your grip strength through, say, a fitness journey or similar, than the dynamometer is likely for you. If you are, on the other hand, expecting this piece to do anything to, in and of itself, build your grip strength, then you are sadly mistaken -- this is not a piece of exercise equipment, but rather a measuring device. With that understanding out of the way, this Camry dynamometer is very good at what it does. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the plastic makes it feel a bit "cheap" in your hand, but that perception quickly turns around once you begin to grip it. Make no mistake: this is very well built for the price point, and with a max grip strength measurement of 198lbs, it will likely give many users a significant amount of room for improvement (I myself hover around 130lbs in early testing). The metrics that the dynamometer provides are impeccable. You'll be prompted to add your age and gender, and then not only does the Camry dynamometer tell you the lbs/kg of force behind your grip, it also compares you with others in your demographic band, labeling you weak, normal, or strong. This is a good way to understand the average of someone with similar characteristics -- if you would have asked me before I got this product, I wouldn't have been able to tell you anything about the average force range. The grip adjustment is very helpful, but I'm not sure I've found the optimal positioning yet. If you begin from a "grip too closed" position (adjusted downward), you'll bump plastic before you apply much force. If you start it "grip too open" (adjusted upward), it's difficult to get a significant amount of force behind it. There's a delicate balance, and it's one that I'm not certain to have found yet. Overall, let's call it what it is; the Camry dynamometer is a pretty interesting conversation starter. It can help you track grip strength on a fitness journey, but it's not likely to shape your fitness in and of itself. When benchmarking common exercises (bench press, squats, deadlifts, etc) it's easy to attach numbers and weights to progress, but grip strength is otherwise pretty challenging to classify. Camry de-mystifies that with this product, so as long as you know what you're getting yourself into, you're certain to have a lot of fun!

Used it at a few parties. Seemed to mostly work fine but sometimes the numbers shown did not make sense. Still, it was a great ice breaker.
