Great for using when soldiering any size item

I now always have a pot of Thermo Gel Cool and although I don't like dealing with it I haven't killed any catches since I started using it to solder jump rings that attach the catches, I also haven't melted any chain near any jump rings. I watched a video of someone using it and that was useful, so I tend to put a generous amount on my soldering mat and sink anything around the bit I want soldered into the gel leaving as much as I can of the bit I want soldered out of it and that generally works, it tends to adhere to everything around it but does easily wash off, it is a little love/hate relationship but it is very useful.

Protected my diamonds whilst I was soldering - prefect!

Only used on one job that I dared not do before buying the Gel. I'm not a jeweller but I wanted to repair a cufflink that had inlaid enamel. Worked a treat and allowed me to solder a ring on the back without any discolouration or melting.
