Arrived in good time, the birds loved these so much that I had to ration them out.

An attempt to get the birds back
We had a full month with only one or two of the usual garden birds. They didn't want food and just all vanished, so these new blocks are our attempt to encourage them back so we can look after them through the cold weather. We had hardly any insects this summer, not enough to even pollenate our fruit trees properly, so suspect that has affected how many birds survived - or they found a better spread of goodies elsewhere and abandoned us! We shall see...the blocks are good and I can't see them lasting long.
