it uses a pin. very easy to install.

Q: Is this fan Wet Rated?

Yes it is. I have it installed on my patio. There is a roof on the patio, but it is open to the elements. the fan is designed to allow water vapor to drip down without getting inside the electrical components. Very well made. It is quiet and works great. It also looks good. It is not a bright white color. It is more of an off white, but the finish is good.
