Koa Kava Dehydrated Instant Kava, Not Micronized, 4 oz (113g)

Update 6/3/25: I'm changing my review to five stars, to reflect the experience I had with the company after I complained about the below. They were able to identify a problem in their supply chain which they were also able to correct, and I can no longer say it's a different product. It's the same instant kava I grew to love in the past year or two, and I am still a happy customer. This is easily the best instant kava that doesn't look like it came out of a meth lab. And while I expect nobody drinks kava for the taste and flavor, it's back to the flavor I associate with good quality, strong kava. It's worth your time and money to try it once! I'm so disappointed. According to Amazon, I've ordered this instant kava more than 35 times, and for the first 30 or so, it was hands-down the best instant kava I've ever had. But something changed in January 2025 or so. The color and flavor are dramatically different from what they were before. The color is lighter. I suppose you might say it's a more mild flavor, but IMO people don't drink kava for the mild flavor, know what I mean? And the potency is remarkably worse, while the amount that will make me feel ill is either the same, or less than before! In short, it's just about exactly like every other instant kava I've ever tried, which is a real bummer. Koa was the best. What happened, guys? Bring your old product back. Lest you think I'm imagining this, I found myself at our summer home a few days ago, on an errand, and discovered a bag of the old stuff, likely from June or July 2024. Sure enough, it's remarkably different in flavor and color, and effects. And I'm almost out. Boo! And I guess bula! Please bring back the good stuff, Koa.

I liked it a lot! Did the trick. Enjoyed the quality and taste.

This one tastes like cardboard. Doesn't mix well with flavored drinks at all. Relaxation is good. Not as heady as some of the others. Not one of the better instants I've tried. While the effects are decent, the overall impression is; look at other options.

This is by far the BEST instant kava on the market! I have wasted way too much $ trying other brands and nothing compares to Koa Kava. I get the result I’m looking for along with the best flavor compared to other brands.

This brand is all over Amazon, however it tastes AWFUL, moreso than other brands, and is very weak in potency. Overpriced as well for what it does. Would never buy again. Try Fiji Vanua Kava..

This is pretty good kava, but I noticed they just raised their price by a not-insignificant amount. I get it - economics and however they want to justify it, probably something along the lines of "being as small as it is, the kava market allows us to find our niche and squeeze our customers for more nickels than we really should be, in good conscience..." But what do I know? I don't sell kava.

I obviously like this kava since I’ve bought it 7 times. I have to drink 3-4 8 oz cups of it to get a good buzz going. Warning , I have to eat a good meal with it otherwise it can make me feel nauseous. It’s powerful. Beats kneading or shaking. I try to only drink it once in a while for special occasions like Christmas or a birthday and a few more times during the year since it’s so expensive. Also for new people your not supposed to drink alcohol with it or it could harm the liver. I’m not an alcohol drinker so I don’t have to worry. I just feel like warning folks. This is a great product as far as strength though, and convenience. It does taste awful though but any kava that gives you a big buzz will taste bad. I wouldn’t ever buy a kava drink or shot that claims to taste good and also be effective. It’s not. I tried some other product that claimed to do both taste good and give you a real kava buzz but it didn’t work. Total waste of money. Buy this kava if you want a strong buzz. It’s worth the money if you can afford it.

As someone who was a bit skeptical of instant, I'm happy to say that it works. It is for sure weaker than normal powder, but it's also like 100x faster and doesn't taste quite as strong (thank goodness). In terms of value, I'd still recommend the traditional stuff instead. You get way more for the same price and the greater potency is well worth the extra 5-10 minutes.
