Over the past several years, sucralose has taken over as the preferred sweetener for health/fitness foods like protein powders and protein bars. But sucralose is documented as being antagonistic toward gut bacteria and for this reason, it causes me a lot digestive distress. So I've learned to avoid it like the plague. However, it has become harder and harder to avoid. I was happy to find this brand and this flavor a few years ago and I've been buying it ever since. I'm not really a chocolate person but I've also learned to accept that most of these foods come in various shades of chocolate. Cookies and cream flavors are the most acceptable chocolate flavor and this bar is reasonably tasty. It's not too hard or too soft, with an almost candy bar like consistency. Not quite, but close. It's somewhat thick as you're chewing it but not so much so that it's hard to eat. And it's appropriately sweet but not too sweet. If you like cookies and cream flavored snack bars, this is a pretty good bar with whey protein and some added vitamins and minerals. You can slide it in your bag or purse when you're on the go or when you're too lazy to just make yourself a proper breakfast. It's reasonably priced for this category (this category is expensive, though) and when you buy a box like this, it's the closest thing you can get to economical.

I love this bar! It tastes absolutely amazing! However I am extremely sad that I am having some sensitivity to the ingredients in the bar. I am lactose and allergic to soy and this bar contains both. I didn't pay attention to the ingredients which is completely my fault so I am sad to say I won't be ordering these bars again. If I wasn't having sensitivities to it I would definitely order it again. I just want to comment that some of the people that reviewed the bar negatively due to the sugar content if you look at it says 2:1 carb to protein ratio so they aren't marketing this as strictly a protein bar but an energy bar with protein to help fuel you throughout your day and has protein to help with your workouts. I was aware of the sugar content and I was just really happy to find an energy/protein bar that tasted great. I bought 6 different protein bars and sadly none of them tasted very good except for this one. I can't believe I am allergic to it :( I still eat small portions here and there because I really like it but can't eat very much for the stomach issues due to the sensitivity. If you aren't allergic to the ingredients and you need a pick me up throughout the day and you are too busy to sit down and have a meal this is definitely a great bar to try out!

These are not like they used to be. They are HARD and barely any frosting. The flavor is still good but buyer beware!

Love that I can buy these on here because they're my absolute favorite protein bars and lately I've been unable to find them in stores.

With pretty much everything being marketed as "sugar free" nowadays, I forgot to check the nutrition facts before buying these as I just assumed they were sugar free/artificially sweetened. As most protein bars do now...or at least...have way less sugar than these. Anyone that has tried a few different sugar free options of anything knows how they can taste, but it's something you get used to. You can also tell when something has way too much. While the flavor is nothing special, bland, and way too sweet for me, these tasted worse than any sugar free protein bar I've had. They weren't expired. I mainly bought them because they were cheap and 20g of protein per bar, but it was my fault not checking the nutrition facts. Many people don't care, or are oblivious/in denial of things that seem healthy, but have tons of sugar/glucose, ironically making them less than desirable for good health- and much unhealthier than other sugar free/ artificially sweetened/ sugar alcohol made options. Although too much of any of that stuff isn't good either. While the soy protein isolate blend/concentrate can be better than other options if you need a quick 20g of protein in a pinch...you'll also be taking in more sugar than a snickers or other junk candy bar. These have 30g of sugar per bar, which is ridiculous for something like this. If sugar doesn't bother you, you may like them... But I won't be ordering them again.
