Small but seriously effective hand planer
I didn’t expect much from something this small, but it honestly exceeded my expectations. I used this little hand planer to trim a door molding so it would sit flush with the frame, and it handled the job way better than I thought it would. For tight spaces where a regular planer feels bulky or awkward, this thing is perfect. The build quality is solid — all metal construction with a clean orange finish, and the blade feels sharp right out of the box. The compact size actually works in its favor, giving you a lot of control for precise trimming. You can see from the photos that it’s well put together, and even after use, everything still feels tight and durable. That said, it’s definitely not for large jobs. If you’re planning to remove a lot of material, this isn’t the tool for that. It’s more of a precision tool for small adjustments, edges, and detail work. Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone doing finish carpentry, DIY touch-ups, or small fixes around the house. If you need something compact, accurate, and reliable for light work, this is a great little tool to have.

Small but mighty!
What a great little tool! I have other planes both big and small. But this little guy was a surprise! Much smaller than my "small" plane, but it did its job without struggle. Easy to set up and handle. Nice and sharp. I will reach for this plane as my first choice for many planing jobs!

It's a Gem
I got this plane because it was made by Jorgensen who over my woodworking years has proven to make good stuff at a reasonable price. And it was cheap and I wanted to try one of these mini planes, as I had looked at many "violin" planes and thought they might work on situations where you had a small rough surface to smooth, or a small protusion sticking up to even out (such as dowel or screw hold wood cap). Its nicely made...good materials. It was packaged in a appropiate box, plastic cover over it,etc. It was amazing in use. I've recently been building chess boards for my family, and with very little adjustment I can get thin shavings to level/smooth out the edges/surface of the boards. And not just small 1 inch level...I can go the full board (24 Inches). The blade has lasted without sharpening yet...I must've used it 50 times so far....and the blade still is sharp! I even went to my larger block and #4 and #5 planes (lee valley, stanley) and gone back to this one...as they are harder to use to take small shavings - well that's probably my lack if fiddeling with them, than a knock of them. As others have pointed out, the finger round in the front gives you more control to press down and start off the plane, and steer it as you push thru. One tip, I find with this plane (as well on others) is to angle the plane to your plane direction and that will make take less off and be easier to control and push. I'm very happy with it, and its a gem. PS the only planes that I have that really compare in shaving performance are those small Chinese planes (the ones I have are 2" x 6") that you pull, rather the push - and they are harder to adjust the blade.

Small but mighty
Handy and surprisingly effective little mini plane. Jorgensen constantly offers good quality products at very affordable prices. I wish they would make their spokeshaves more readily available.

Sweet little planer - sure beats a chisel or razor blade or sander or...
This little planer is perfect for small intricate work. I needed it to knock down the edge of an epoxy resin project - about 3mm X 2mm. I will admit I had never used this small of a planer but once I took it apart and played with all the adjustments, I was able to adjust the blade out to 1mm and tightened everything down. I was able to knock down the excess resin left by the large silicon mold. The finger spot in the front of the tool allows the user to add pressure or let the tool float over the work. It did exactly what I needed and will be my tool of choice for fine detail work. My blade was sharp, the base of the planer was flat and all the adjustments/fine tuning of blade depth/evenness worked as described. Something notable/apparent on the tool was the lack of branding.. BTW, I used this for about two hours but it only takes about 15 minutes to master its usage - a light touch and thin shavings are it's strength!!

Don't listen to the bad reviews!!!
OMG...I saw the negative reviews, and I can only speak to what I received. First, I assume people who complained about it really did not know how to work with a plane like this! Hint: It needs to be adjusted to make VERY thin shavings! Second, lots of the complaints were hat it was small...well, duh! It isn't the products fault if you can't read a description! Anyway, I was surprised and very pleased by this tiny plane. I am a woodworker, and needed this to plane down some 1/4" edges. It arrived, and was nicely finished and well made. Like all wood planes, it needed a little attention to set-up to get a small enough cut, but once set it locked down well and immediately produced very nice, thin ribbons of of the very hard wood (Goncalo Alves) I was working with. I was expecting to need to sharpen it, but it cut beautifully as received. Obviously, if you do not know what you are doing and try to do too deep a cut, you will get terrible performance from it.

Useful miniature block plane
Excellent value for money. I was able to use the plane straight out of the box. Handy for small places

Great mini plane
I've had the chance to use this a few times now and it works well. Out of the box it is sharp enough to work and it is well built. A handy mini plane for those smaller pieces.

Surprisingly Capable Little Plane for Small Jobs
I bought the JORGENSEN 3.5" mini wood plane for light touch-up work around the house—mainly trimming door edges and cleaning up small woodworking projects—and it’s done a solid job so far. Right out of the box, it felt well-made and sturdier than I expected at this price point. The blade was fairly sharp and only needed minor adjustment to get it just right. Once tuned, it produced smooth shavings and left a clean finish on soft and medium woods. This is not a tool meant for heavy-duty planing, so if you’re expecting to flatten large boards or remove a ton of material, this isn’t it. But for tight spaces or detail work, it’s perfect. I especially liked the compact size—it fits in the palm of your hand and gives you great control for delicate jobs. A couple of small drawbacks: the blade adjustment mechanism could be a bit more refined, and it took a few tries to get the depth exactly where I wanted it. Also, the grip isn't the most comfortable for extended use, but that’s expected with mini tools like this. Overall, it’s a great little tool to keep in the toolbox for quick fixes and fine-tuning. I wouldn’t rely on it for big tasks, but for small projects, it’s more than earned its place on my bench.
