Works Great. Well Made. Useful.
Professional quality. This is super easy to use and useful for making sure you are breathing healthy air. Comes ready to go and with a usb charging cable. When it's charged you just press and hold the center button until the startup screen appears. Place the device on a stable surface or hold steady. Select AQI (air quality index) to see the standard AQI that is used in weather reports and smog alerts. Press PM 2.5 to see 2.5 and 10 micron particles per cubic meter and total particles per liter. Press HCHO to see formaldehyde (chemical from particle wood, glues, etc). I used this in my bedroom to make sure my air purifier was adequate and to minimize air leaks from outside. In my photos you can see the outside air was bad due to neighbor with wood stove. After getting a better air purifier and sealing air leaks I was able have super clean air that improves my sleep! NOTE: Follow the instructions so you get accurate readings. Don't blow into the vents and don't measure with air blowing into the unit. Make measurements in calm air with the device steady in your hand or on a clean surface. The air quality measurement stabilizes pretty quick, but for most accurate reading you should wait 2-3 minutes. Temperature and humidity are slower (the sensors are in the case) but will likely be accurate and stable in 5 minutes. Don't swing the device around or let air blow hard into it, otherwise you might get inaccurate results. It has a tiny internal mechanism that draws air into the particle counter module at the proper rate. The device will run approximately 8 hours on a charge. It does not store data, but some other models by this company do. The display is bright, clear, and easy to read. I am very pleased with the quality and functionality of this device! Don't waste money on the cheap ones. This is professional grade. NOTE: This is a sensitive device for measuring particles that are too small to see. If you use it in dusty or misty (paint, hair spray, fog, etc) environments you could foul the internal laser device that counts microscopic particles. For example if you used this in a cloud of talcum powder you could foul the laser optics. Some fluctuation of readings is normal due to particles shed by you, your hair, clothing, dust on surfaces, many sources. These particles can waft into this device with the slightest air movement, including just walking by this device. This affect is more pronounced in clean air because a wave of particles from clothing or other sources will be more obvious. NOTE: If you use this to measure visible particles, such as pollen, you can damage the sensor and will get inaccurate readings. Smoke may be ok for a short period of time (a few minutes) but this is best used in areas where visible particles are not present. Intended for 10 micrometers or smaller particles.

readings agree with other instruments
At first the readings had marked differences with other instruments (Triplett RHT22 and Davis Instruments Airlink). The Triplett and Airlink have been running non-stop for weeks. After allowing time for the Temtop to stabilize and calibrating the temperature and humidity, the readings are remarkably close in all three: Temtop temp 23.6, humidity 65.2, AQI 51, PM 2.5 12.2, PM10 19.1 Davis Instruments. temp 24, humidity 63, AQI 60, PM 2.5 16, PM10 16 Triplett RHT22 temp 23.7, humidity 61% All temperatures in degrees Celsius. My guess is that the differences in PM2.5, PM10 could be due to the Temtop using active air circulation for the sensors and the Airlink passive circulation, but I have no way to check it The HCOH sensor gives a reading of zero outdoors and the highest reading I've gotten indoors is between 0.01-0.02. It remains to be tested in a contaminated environment

It doesn't come with a carrying case & you can't change the batteries but the device is nice... The device is nice and easy to use but it has to be recharged via a USB cable and there is no case to carry the cable (very annoying!) or the device and it would be nice if it had a case that not only held the device and cable but the instruction manual a well. No carrying case (-1 Star) Can't change batteries (-1 Star) The device is very nice and works good. Good day & God Bless... Randall M. Rueff K9RMR

Ordered new unit, received repackaged one
I bought a new unit, the box had clearly been opened previously with a white stain and scratches on it

I wish I'd bought the one with data export
Readings appear to be very accurate. I let it run for several hours on my patio to make sure HCHO detection was calibrated correctly. I'm mostly concerned with PM2.5 and PM10 levels. I bought a USB power adapter so I could plug in the PKC-1000E and have it running all day. After setting it up in my office, I just kept an eye on it throughout the day. The readings on one day were different from other days, and I wished I could export the data for comparison over a longer period of time. I may watch for a sale to upgrade to the M2000 series. Note: 1 - Do not confuse the AQI on this device with the outdoor AQI levels published by the EPA or weather channels. The EPA calculates AQI from five different pollutants, and this device only measures one of those pollutants (particulates). So this device's AQI does not take other factors into account, like ozone. 2 - The included manual covers all LKC-1000 models, and it isn't very clear about which capabilities are on the LKC-1000E. "3) Setting" is about setting the time, storage intervals, and data export -- these features do not apply to LKC-1000E, but it doesn't say so. There are some limited settings on the LKC-1000E (like language), and to access these you must hold the Pause/Play button for at least 5 seconds.

Very good quality for the price
bought a few particle meters and air quality monitors (I learned that they are different) comparing readings this one is capable of consistent high sensitivity readings especially for the price. I would recommend if you are wanting to monitor air changes in process such as a wood shop or paint booth.

Good air quality monitor to have. Got the basics covered.
This air quality monitor got all the basics covered, one screen reveals the concentration of small sized particles, another screen judges the air quality index, and last screen shows the formaldehyde content. I use this for 3D printing workspace and it's got all the basics covered so I know when to tinker with my filters. About using this device: * The monitor sort of have a "lazy" response in reading. I have to wait a few seconds in between readings; so it's not a true realtime monitor. * The battery lasts about 15-16 hours on constant use. I ended up turning it off most times and turn it on whenever I remember to check the air quality. That makes it last up to two weeks by having it mostly on off mode. * Charging the device isn't that bad, only took few hours to charge up. * Boot up sequence is slow and annoying. By the time I remind myself to check the air quality, upon pressing the power button, it took almost half a minute to boot up and read the air for the first few passes to stabilize the read. * This meter only has what I mentioned, it does not really measure for VOC's nor CO2. So if you're looking for a full panel, look elsewhere. Overall, as a basic air quality checker, this one does the very basic. I do not have another meter to verify the readings so I cannot confirm if it's accurate at all. But the way I use it is based on relative values. I know I can turn it on, walk around and use more readings and compare to previous readings. That's about the extent of how this can be used. With all that being said, I think this is a good little device and having a way of using it on relative terms makes it confident enough for me to make air quality decisions in the 3D printer workspace. When the air gets quite filled with air pollutants, I would replace all the HEPA and carbon filters to watch the air index improve. So it's a working device and highly recommendable.

Very Impressed - Great Purchase!
I recently obtained this air quality monitor, and it has been an enlightening experience. The device covers all the basics, such as small particle concentration, air quality index, and even formaldehyde content. It's ideal for my workshop, and it lets me know when I need to replace filters or turn on/off the exhaust system. The monitor has a bit of a delayed response, but once it gets going, it provides reliable readings. The battery life is decent, lasting about 15 to 20 hours of constant use, and it is rechargeable, which is a great feature. However, one downside is that you cannot change the batteries. Also, a heads up, it does not measure VOCs and CO2, so if you need those readings, this monitor may not be the best option for you. Despite these limitations, it is an excellent tool for ensuring the air quality around me is safe. This is the perfect, inexpensive air quality monitor for obtaining basic results.
