Ace FRENCH Murder Mystery Game : Le Mystere des Masques

French Revolution tick! Costumes involving long sweeping lacy skirts and pompadour hairstyles tick! Murder mystery game tick! A Game that combines three passions is not easy to find as a rule :) Ace murder mystery games are delightful. I think I've pretty much ordered most of them by now. The game has preassigned personalities with descriptions of each character along with a secret they're concealing from the world. The Game is divided into 3 scenes interspersed with clues to be read out by the different players and each of which reveals a new plot twist. Cheesy one liners, classic murder mystery scenes in which the characters are all inadvertently revealing their individual weaknesses while attacking others and pushing them to reveal their flaws, creepy innuendos, lots of room for crazy improvisations and space to invest ur character with accents and mannerisms all add enormously to the fun. At times we would be laughing so much we would pause although as a rule we try to stay in character as much as possible since then we extract the maximum fun from it. To create feel of Paris we really went to town by creating an opulent feel to the room where we would all be sitting. We hung branches of artificial roses, puddled velvet on the floor, tucked lacy fans and embroidered tapestry cushions in corners and posed porcelain dolls on sofas. We placed a quill pen with an old fashioned book and invited the guests to sign it. They had so much fun with that and really entered into the whole period atmosphere we were trying to create. The ladies adored frou frouing with their silken skirts and fluttering their lashes over their fans and it all helped them to act out their parts with zest and aplomb. All in all a huge success and I may add in each game up till now we've played no one really guessed who the murderer was. But that could be because our family expanded each role so much that by the end it seemed each one could have committed the murder! The thing is for most people its such an unusual experience that no one wants the evening to end and everyone has so much fun they always demand to know which other games we have and when we can invite them over again! What more does one want as a hostess?

Enjoyable game easy to follow

Played with a group of friends on New Year's Eve. Have played a few murder mysteries in the past and this is one of the best ones we have done. It has more structure and is largely scripted so easy to follow - though no one ever manages to work out who the murder is!

We had a blast doing this. Was easy to follow and very enjoyable

We played this game as two families with teenage children. We really enjoyed it and found it very humorous. Only one person correctly figured out who the murderer was.

We hosted this murder mystery on New Years Eve everyone dressed up and it was great fun. Very well organised package. Would highly recommend this.
