would def recommend
like another user noted the handles are a bit wobbly yet sturdy enough to give you the power to raise yourself up enough to get up from the seat without feeling like they will break ... the height on this was enough with minimal effort to rise me up to standing position

Perfect after hip replacement
Purchased for my husband after his hip replacement surgery. Worked so well we have kept it installed and continue to use it. Comfortable and easy installation.

May not work well with every toilet seat.
Overall product is great. Seems to be designed for use with older toilet seats, not the ones that come with all the plastic hardware that are designed to prevent the seat from loosening. The bolt head may not fit into those plastic hinges if you use a washer. And the bolt may not fit particularly well in some of the bolt holes in those; the holes may be elongated which could allow the toilet seat to loosen on the riser so that it can slide forward, back or to one side or the other.

Check the seat size for elongated vs round when purchasing
This type of toilet seat is a Must postop knee surgery and in a doctor and researched the best options for recovery 1 it attaches easily and is very sturdy and has the ability to slide 2 postop bending the knee is NO JOKE and the ability to gently sit slowly transitioning from cane or walker is a life saver. Any quick movements cause severe pain and possibly can injure the site 3 you have to get UP after and getting off is also challenging 4 small bathrooms won’t fit the walker so having something to grab other than the sink or toilet paper holder (which will rip off) matters Strongly recommend this with the bars - have a different type in a larger bathroom but strongly prefer this one for recovery

Requires significant effort to disassemble & clean
I needed this for post hip replacement surgery. The plastic riser portion fit my elongated toilet adequately. To accommodate my soft close toilet lid & seat I had to purchase larger round steel washers and rubber washers to assemble my lid & seat to the riser & toilet. Assembly is a bit tricky as the wing nuts on the bottom of the supplied bolts are under the toilet. Daily or weekly removal for cleaning is not practical. The handles at the widest setting were not wide enough. I'm 6' 200lbs, very fit, not fat. After using this for 5 weeks (daily cleaning using disinfectant wipes) I removed it to find the metal arms and "click spring buttons" corroded, paint peeling, and needing not just cleaning but maintenance to restore the internal springs. After a thorough cleaning w soap & diluted bleach I fully dried all of the parts. I chose to not use the handles when reassembling this time and found this superior. For my second hip replacement I will not use the handles. I'll use my walker to stand up. This item is fairly priced.

Just what I needed....
This is a lifesaver. I read a lot of reviews and looked at a lot of products. Some said the seat shifted, so I was a little skeptical. I bought it because I have arthritis in my knees making rising and sitting painful. This is a perfect height and has completely eliminated any discomfort. I didn't install it, but it looked pretty straightforward. Also there are rubber strips on the underside that make contact with the toilet. It doesn't budge at all. I find I don't need the handles, but at some point if I do need them, good to know they're there. It seems well designed and made. One caveat, I have a toilet that flushes from a button on the top of the tank which means I have to close the lid in order to flush. Not a big deal and at some point I likely will have to replace the toilet. I would never buy a toilet that uses the top of the tank in that way. A plumber unloaded it on me without my knowing how it flushed.

Poor design, hard to install, not secure, might be a fall risk.
Rarely to I give 1 star reviews. I often just return poor products, get a refund and move on. In this case with the nature of the use, guess we will keep it. 1. The attachment hardware contains washers that are too small for the forward backward positioning slot opening in the seat. Problem here is that they end up going in at an angle. 2. The wider plastic washer also is too small for slot but I expect it was for under the toilet. Problem here is that there are newer better parts for the under part of ceramic toiled that come with seats event form Walmart. They snug up into the opening and damage nothing. 3. The wing nuts for the under toilet seat cannot be turned all the way as they eventually hit the side of the bowl and cannot be turned. This could be depending on the bowl design but again see #2 as a manufacture like this should be aware of better parts. Bottom line is seat would never be tight. 4. I used the better connectors from the regular seat we had to take off and we bought from Walmart. Their threads worked with the bolt supplied. 5. To tighten down, you had to have the washer either at one end or the other end of the forward back positioning slot to prevent it tilting into the slot. So if your best position was anywhere but those two locations it would not work unless you found better washers. Even at that you would find it hard to keep the bolts at those positions as you locked it down. 6. The head of the bolts and washer are on the seat surface so expect bolt marks in your behind. The seat should have a recess for them and a cover. 7. The height is not much more than a good padded seat but is higher. 8. Seat is not soft but that seems to be the standard. 9. There is no lid. Expect your dog drinking it. 10. Cleaning it is ok, but to clean between it and the top of the toilet seat is going to be a big job because you will have to unbolt it. Mold will build in that crack. Again there are easy to lock and unlock mechanisms for seats and the mfg should use them. 11. Handles are strong but have no adjustable levels. For the price, this is a gross overcharge and the product is not something of quality to expect from a brand name. I suspect that what is offered here was a fully packaged manufacturing batch that had wrong hardware and it was pawned off to another distribution channel or vendor to get rid of it.

Raised toilet seat
This raised seat allows you to add on your own seat and lid. Long bolts are provided along with wing nuts and washer. I have installed one for my husband and another for my 91 year old mother. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble. The elongated model fit my mother's toilet more fully than our rounded model. As was stated in other reviews, the seat does slide from side to side slightly. I have not yet decided if I will solve this issue with 2 sided tape. My husband who has ALS, finds it easier to get off the toilet using the raised arm rests. It is easier now for me to assist him in getting up. My mother also finds it much easier to raise herself up. I would buy this product again.

It Works
Bought this for my mom. It is easy to install and is very sturdy. It’s not very wide, so if someone plus size uses it, it could be uncomfortable.
