It worked to get me past setup and that's all I can ask for. I had to unplug the tv a couple times but we got there. My TV is from around 2018 so for people looking for a 1st/2nd get remote, I think this should work. Also, never buying a fire TV again due to this craziness.

SolarCell Remote I was initially excited about this remote because of its innovative solar charging feature. The idea of a remote that could recharge using sunlight or indoor lighting sounded convenient and eco-friendly. However, my experience has been disappointing. The remote worked well for about 50 days. During that time, it performed as advertised—responsive, easy to use, and charging seemed straightforward. But after those initial weeks, the charging stopped working altogether. Neither the solar panel on the back nor plugging it in via USB-C could revive it. The remote is now essentially a paperweight. For a product marketed as sustainable and reliable, this failure is unacceptable. I expected better longevity for the price. Customer support wasn’t helpful either—they suggested troubleshooting steps that didn’t resolve the issue. It seems like the remote’s internal battery may have failed prematurely. If you’re considering this remote, be cautious. The concept is great, but the execution leaves much to be desired. Until this company improves the reliability of the SolarCell Remote, I can’t recommend it.

Work as the original one

Remote looks and feels close to the original solar & usb-c OEM remote, but uses 2 standard AAA batteries. Minus 1 star due to one of the pre-programmed app incorrectly assigned to a button. I specifically ordered the model that has Samsung Plus TV icon as the bottom right button. When pressed Hulu starts up (I don't use their service). There's no way to reassign the buttons I'm aware of (Google turned up no results). Connectivity is a tiny but more laggy than the OEM but still within what I consider reasonable. The buttons make a more audible and noticeable click when pressed, not a bad thing just more "stiff" feeling. At a third the price of OEM, it's a decent replacement, and would buy again.

Bought this as a replacement for our original controller snd works great.

Remote works just fine, but holding buttons on remote don't continually send input. This causes it to be very annoying to rewind and fast forward. You also can not soft reset apps or the TV with the remote. Since holding the back button or power button doesn't send input long enough to initiate the reset. Quality is fine and everything else works, but would. It recommended for a replacement.

Excellent product. Performs better than expected!

I recently ordered what was advertised as a Samsung solar remote, but what I received was far from the genuine product. It's not a solar remote at all; in fact, it resembles a cheap Rs 100-200 knockoff. Disappointed, I requested a replacement, only to receive the exact same fake remote again. This is clearly a scam, so beware and DON'T BUY IT.

So the place that supplies the remote called me to say they have none left in stock and offered me a newer model. When I got the remote, as soon as I paired it with my TV, it works like a dream and that's coming from someone that has been struggling to find a decent replacement remote for a year, so happy with my purchase.

The product description is misleading — it’s advertised as solar-powered, but it actually requires AAA batteries. Please advise.
