Great!
Here are all my thoughts (in no particular order): 1) Love the smoke white color. Wish there was a slightly brighter white option but the smoke white is beautiful. The general overall look of the luggage is premium! 1b) I'm not really worried about how it will look after many flights. It's a carry on so it won't get the kind of beatings that a checked luggage does. 2) Love the wide handle. I am one of 10 people on the planet who still preferred the old school tilt-and-wheel luggage because I have always found the newer 360 kind to be sort of difficult. The new wide handle makes the luggage far more stable. I also love the bright orange accent there. The handle stops at a few different heights which is great because I'm shorter (5'5") but my roommate is taller (6'). It works for either of us and it adjusts SO EASILY and smoothly. 3) Love the open top style. It takes up less space when unpacking/packing and is easier to pack (for me). I am also trying to use a compressible hanging closet organizer when I travel and the open top style is much easier to use for that. If that's not how you pack, I still think the open top is easier to pack than a clam shell but it might be a less obvious difference. 3b) A minus of the open top style is that when the lid is open there's sort of a lip of hard plastic around the inner corners. Can make packing things in the corner annoying. Only fix I can imagine is making the opening larger. But it might be a problem no matter what. Definitely not a deal breaker for me. Just an annoyance. 4) The wheels glide real nice. Sometimes I just move the luggage around for fun. Like a giant adult-sized fidget spinner. 5) The zippers are a win(?). They zip smoothly, the long handles make them easy to grab, and I like that they lock into the suitcase. It's a cool feature that seems to be popping up on luggage of all brands. I haven't had any issues yet but I do wonder about the durability of the zippers when locked and getting tossed around at the airport. That's not just with this Hanke carry on but with nearly any piece of luggage that uses this style of zipper lock. If the worst happened and the handle of the zippers broke, I could add a new zipper pull but it wouldn't work with the lock. So still serviceable but not ideal. Again, this isn't a ding against the Hanke but a general concern about the style in general. I have only seen one piece of luggage from some random brand that had this zipper lock style AND a built-in cover over the zipper lock to protect it. I'd like to see that the next time they redesign this luggage. But definitely not a deal breaker for me yet, and it may come to pass that it's never a problem. Just something I noticed. Tl;dr: Love it. Very few, small complaints. EDIT: actually flew with this on a plane (4 flights) Reading point 1b makes me lol now. Went round trip 4 flights and for all 4 the airline made me check the luggage because the flight was full. Sooooo now the suitcase has spent some time on rolling ramps and in the bowels of an airplane. First, in terms of durability I’ve had no problems. Nothing has broken, zipper and wheels are just fine. Second, I got a bunch of compliments on the bag from airline workers (which really says something!) Now the disappointing: the really textured surface of the suitcase “catches” the softer black rubber that all of those luggage ramps are made of, depositing bits of black on all the scrapes on your luggage. The nice thing is, at least for smoke white, the color on the plastic exterior is through and through so you’re not getting color removed (instead the black rubbery stuff is getting deposited on). Ultimately you can scrub nearly all of it off with some patience. I included some pictures of the small sections I couldn’t clean all the way. There are now scratches on this luggage but they’re the same color as the luggage which sort of hides them. I tried to take pictures but it was hard to get them to show (which is kinda what I’m talking about). I don’t know if there’s any luggage out there that can survive the kind of abuse that airlines put out. If you don’t think you want to ever scrub your luggage (which is understandable haha) I would just advise you to pick one of this brand’s darker colors. EDIT TO ADD: I’ve literally never had a chance to use this as a carry on. 8 flights in and it always gets checked lol still works great but the black rubber deposits/scratches are annoying to scrub off. I don’t like being someone who cleans their luggage - I’ve got better things to do! As beautiful as smoke white is, if I did it all over I’d pick a darker color. Wish they always made the handle arms an accent color :)

Highly recommend
Love this carry on. It is easy to carry, rolls nicely, locks, and has two handles for each side. I take this one for 10-15 day trips. It holds several pants, shirts, undergarments, and extra pair of shoes. The best thing about this is it is not clam shell designed!!! I can quickly place it on a desk, chair or luggage cart with ease and it wont take up a lot of space. Surprisingly you can squish clothes down in the corners or a few extra things on top before closing. You will be amazed at how much I can fit in this bag.

10/10 would recommend
Used this suitcase for the first time on a big trip the Europe. The trunk style made it easy so I was barely taking up any room while traveling, as I didn’t need a lot of room to open up the suitcase, which is nice when 5 people are squeezing into rooms. It traveled on side walk, gravel, cobblestone, trains, airplanes and it was so easy to manage as the wheels are extremely smooth and the handles are very easy to manage. The lock works wonderfully & I was able to fit the perfect amount for a big trip to a colder climate in just a carryon and personal item. As someone who used clamshell suitcases for the last few years, when I first started packing it I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to fit enough, but I was able to fit more than normal and had room to add items I picked up while traveling. The expandable option is great, but I didn’t even need to use it my entire 1 week trip in Europe. The trunk style helped keep everything organized. Obviously there is a few scuff marks from travel, and I’m not a careful person, my items tend to get beat up, but from how I treated it to how many small marks there are, this suitcase is VERY sturdy. The color is amazing and beautiful and I can’t wait to travel with this suitcase again in the future.

Sleek, Durable, and Traveler-Friendly Carry-On
The Hanke Carry-On Luggage is a well-designed, functional suitcase that combines style with practicality. It has quickly become my go-to for short trips and air travel. Key Features I Love: Top-Open Design: The top-opening feature is a game-changer for tight spaces like airplanes. It allows easy access to essentials without unzipping the entire suitcase. Durable Hard Shell: The sturdy, scratch-resistant shell provides excellent protection for belongings while maintaining a sleek, modern look. The blackish-green color is unique and easy to spot. Smooth Spinner Wheels: The 360-degree spinner wheels glide effortlessly, making navigating airports and crowded streets a breeze. Wide Handle for Comfort: The wide telescoping handle feels solid and ergonomic, reducing strain during use. It adjusts easily to multiple heights for different users. Compact but Spacious: At 20 inches, it meets most airline carry-on requirements. The interior is thoughtfully organized with compartments and straps to keep items secure and tidy. Room for Improvement: Fingerprints on the Shell: The glossy finish is prone to showing fingerprints, though they’re easy to wipe off. No External Pocket: An external pocket for quick access to documents or small items would enhance convenience. Real-World Performance: I recently used this luggage for a weekend trip, and it exceeded my expectations. The spacious interior fit everything I needed, and the hard shell protected my items from rough handling. The wheels handled uneven pavement smoothly, and the suitcase remained upright even when packed to capacity. Why It Stands Out: The combination of durability, stylish design, and thoughtful features makes this suitcase a standout choice for travelers who value function and aesthetics. It’s lightweight yet sturdy, making it ideal for frequent travelers. Final Verdict: The Hanke Carry-On Luggage is a reliable and stylish travel companion. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a durable and well-designed carry-on that balances practicality with elegance. Highly recommend for anyone who values ease of use, durability, and modern design in their travel gear.

Beautiful and well-made, but demension are uncorrect at 14.5 instead of 14
Beautiful luggage that feels very durable. Unfortunately Hanke luggage dimensions are listed wrong. The actual luggage is 14.5 inches instead of 22x14x9 which could result in me paying huge checked luggage fees if it would not fit in the airlines size sort bin for carry on luggage.

Hanke or Matilda?
The Hanke hardside 20 inch carry on is almost EXACTLY the same as the Matilda 20 inch carry on. Both are made in China. Because of this, I am reducing one star as currently the Matilda is priced more competitively. I ordered both suitcases to compare and think your final decision might come down to the feel of its handle in your hand, your intended use of interior top pocket and price. Here are my personal comparisons and observations on deboxing: They look identical, with the exception of some of the lines and color of the zipper. Hanke uses a black zipper and consistent design on all sides of the luggage which makes the luggage looks sharper and more expensive. Wheels - both suitcases glide smoothly and move 360 degrees over low carpet and hard floors. I will say however, that their wheels can't be compared to the quality of Away, Mono or Delsey which could be this carry on's ultimate flaw, should they break. Handle - the Hanke handle has a thinner handgrip. Both are easy to pull up and stop at different heights. Side by side, - the case, color, dimensions, TSA lock, side handles are identical with the exception of the hardware used for the exterior zipper pull to extend suitcase width.. The Matilda uses a metal loop pull. Inside the suitcase - the Matilda includes 2 pockets in the lid for storing socks or wet items. The Hanke does also but it is larger and lies flat so only thin items would fit. The wet compartment is not vinyl nor would I trust it to be water tight. Both suitcases include a zip pocket in the base. See photos for comparison. I will report back after packing and flight.

Side zip, wide handle, like a mini travel trunk! Loved it!!!
Waited to write this after taking it on both an over head carry on and checked style trips. I usually use a duffle bag with 2 side zip compartments for my shoes. I feel that it was the only feature that I was missing. The quality is great. Held up after being tossed around with minimal wear and scuffing. I am clumsy, it did get crashed into seats, walls, hallways, chairs with the arm extended high and did not break as other reviewers stated. Wheels smoothe 360’s and I love the design with wider handle. I was able to fit 3 pairs of Levis, 4 T shirts, pair of sambas, night gown, 4 pairs of socks & undies, 2 tanks and a sweatshirt, and room for my curling iron, a mini flat iron, my toiletary bad and make up bag. And a flannel. Wow! The side load made it easy for me to pack and allows for more items since you don’t have the zipper down the middle. I purchased the black one and received many compliments on the design and look. It was easy to spot because of its unique design. It is exactly the size of a carry on for the overhead bin, in case you get measured! The side and top handles to pick it up were awesome! The only flaw is that rectangular bags are not made to sit on top if they are heavy it will topple over when you wrap the strap over the wide handle. Conventional bags and backpacks are made with a slim strap to accommodate conventional luggage. Simple fix… wraps tote handle around when you are walking through the airport. Not an inexpensive piece of luggage for the features. I did read reviews about locks breaking off. I’ll update if they do.

Make the purchase!
Absolutely perfect! I was thinking of another brand but their carry on was a bit too large. I love the front lid open already. Smooth operation of all zippers, wheels, handles etc. The outside is textured like fabric but is not. The inside is spacious with wet/dry pockets on the lid.

Very disappointing
I am extremely disappointed with this suitcase. I used the suitcase once and the zipper already broke. The suitcase (especially the top flap and zipper) is very flimsy. Feels like a waste of money.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
I love everything about this luggage! The wheels are super smooth and the orange contrast makes it look very luxurious. The colour is a smoky white (light grey) so you don’t have to worry about it getting too dirty. It is very spacious inside and fits all the essentials! Overall really good quality luggage! If you want a quality aesthetics luggage , this is a must buy!

absolutely obsessed with this suitcase!
this is the best luggage ever! i bought the expandable version of this carry on (i also own the regular one and 26in one) for my recent trip to europe. if i didn’t shop so much, it would have been the perfect size for a 10 day trip! very cute and my only tiny complaint about it is that stickers don’t stick to it very well, although that could be user error! lightweight but sturdy, zippers and lock work seamlessly. obsessed with this suitcase!

Like it so far
Perfect size for 1-2 week trips. Did 1 trip to Cuba so far. Luggage still looks great, minor scratches, but surprisingly, none of those nasty black rubber stains. The top opening is great for hotel luggage stands. Note to those complaining about scratches: I have never ever heard of luggage that does not get scratched. Be extremely careful when setting lock code. This one passed the YUL and SNU baggage trauma test. Will see in future if it stands up to 4-5 trips a year.
