Bit of the usual
I like MH and have read all of her books, giving a few of them 5 stars. Save Me starts off good as we meet the main character Ellie, who talks a man called Gareth out of committing suicide. Ellie is likeable if a little soft, and her husband Matt is a moody, rude and selfish man who isn't very nice to his wife. This is explained away by him having depression, low self-esteem and no job. Swell. MH has alot of female characters in her books that are naive like this and put up with anything thrown at them. When Ellie's common sister Holly bumps into Gareth on Christmas day and invites him to Ellie's house for dinner, Ellie doesn't mention to Matt that she knows him, he was the man she saved.......why??? From then on Gareth is never away from her door, the cafe she has lunch in, even turning up when she's at the park. Every time his name came up on screen I found myself tutting as he's so irritating and obvious. But as with most females in these books, Ellie feels sorry for him, believes every single thing he tells her and instantly takes his word over her husband and sister. Yet she won't hear a word said about him from people who know him. Irritating. She puts no pressure on him to find a job or to treat her better, and I was gritting my teeth. As Gareth starts becoming more and more controlling, Ellie goes along with it, with predictable consequences. Matt also has a personality transplant which didn't ring true. The ending was a little silly and I could've done without the silly, vile squabbles between two drug addicts and their dealer. I'll always give MH's books a read and would recommend this one, even with the silly female.

New author to me
Mandasue Heller came recommended by a friend of mine and was the first book I downloaded into my kindle. If you enjoy Martina Coles type of books you will definitely not be disappointed with this book I am now looking for my next download.

Another great read from Mandasue Eller who never fails to please. Gritty and thoroughly believable story with characters that feel familiar.
