So. I have purchased this product in a gourmet grocery store and it was exactly what very aged balsamic should be, almost like a syrup, wonderfully sweet. I could not be more disappointed in this product that I ordered online. This crap tastes like cheap red wine that sat on the counter for too long and has basically turned to vinegar. ZERO body to it. I don’t know if this stuff sits in warehouses too long or what, but for $28 or whatever it was, and no returns, this gets the prize for my biggest rip off this year. I can only assume that any positive reviews this product has are by people who don’t know what truly aged balsamic should taste like. I dumped it immediately down the sink, and was grateful that I didn’t crack open this new bottle to serve friends with tomato, mozzarella, and sweet roasted peppers. I would have been mortified.
