Needed this item as the Original Ring doorbell wiring was not long enough to reach the required power point after a house move. Transformer did emit a noise on the first day of installation, but that seems to have cleared now. Works well, good value.

However, extra caution is necessary when connecting to the power source. If you're unsure, it's advisable to consult an electrician. Since installing this as shown on the blink app the batteries run out in 2 weeks. When you use a power supply you still need batteries and the mains transformer only works the chime, so not worth it.
