DON’T BUY THIS! Hits hard….. ask me how I know? Update: dead in 6 months.
Update #3 10/18/25 Now the 2nd of the charges I purchased in April 2025 is also no longer working. Same as the other one I purchased one week earlier. An internal fault. With no wires hooked up after about 4 seconds of being plugged in the red fault like comes on. It does flash the light indicating a charge but by meter it is not producing anything. The manual says an internal fault is non repairable. So there you have it…. Around $180 for two chargers both lasted around 6 months. Definitely not a good value and will leave what you are trying to protect completely unprotected. If you have one of these POS’s I would recommend you keep close watch. Update 10/3/25 Just as others have posted. Worked great for a while. Unit was in weather proof box in ideal conditions. Bought April 2025 6 months later no longer works. Not a good value for such a short life span. I would not recommend. Okay just got this installed so I can’t speak to how long it will last. I can speak (expertly) as to how hard this thing hits! I’m enclosing my bee yard for predator control mainly bears. I drove 3 4’ ground rods 3’ apart starting about 2’ from the instrument of pain (controller). I did 5 strands of 12ga galvanized wire with 3 hots and 2 grounds. The top, middle, and bottom being hot with a ground wire between. My two ground wires come directly from the ground terminal on the controller for maximum effectiveness. After hooking up display shows 12.5 volts in and 13,500 out. I was adjusting the controller on the post when my head came in contact with the hot wire across the forehead and the ground wire across my chin. I got a fully hard reboot hard reboot cutesy of this thing, being knocked to the ground and I believe nearly unconscious for a brief period of time. A Dewalt drill I had in my hand was found about 20’ away and I lay crumpled in a ditch just below the controller. Long story I know, but the moral is this thing is AWESOME, but don’t work on it unless it’s powered down, I can assure you I will be more careful!

This unit has worked well for me. The best I could find for the price.
The product has work flawlessly to specification for 6 months now. In response to those that complain about it failing, note that it is important to have a really good electrical ground - follow the instructions. Because my soil can get dry in the summer, I am using three ground stakes, three feet apart and each 32 inches deep. A good ground minimizes internal stress on the electronics. Also, keep the charged wire free of weeds or other things that can cause leakage to ground. This will keep the output at maximum effectiveness and improves battery life. I am using this for a plant nursery to keep the deer out. Having been in operation for some time now, there is never a deer print near it. They've learned to stay away. Lot's of videos on line can show you how to arrange an effective electrical fence for deer. I am running the unit off of a deep cycle heavy duty 12 volt battery charged by solar panels that are sized for the load, a completely off-gird system. I am quite satisfied with this product so far. And plan to purchase another.

Short lived charger
Life span of 3 to 4 months. I have bought 3 of these and so far 2 of them are dead. Good and powerful when they work, but I can't afford to buy another. The first one went out right after a storm and I thought it had gotten a power surge, even though it was plugged into a surge protecter. The second one went out less than 4 months later for no reason other than being faulty.

Cheap, delivers a wallop, but the posts are trash
It’s working great for a week now but the comments about the wire binding posts are spot on, the nuts are useless as they have no washer or flange and the plastic covers on the nuts are are garbage - so be prepared to secure wires to a post without a nut. Otherwise I’m quite satisfied so far. I see comments tht the power supplies fail easily and I work with electronics for a living and can see they aren’t robust. However they are easily replaceable inexpensively with a more robust replacement on Amazon if you know how to match or rewire a barrel connector. Overall it’s great for me as long as the main unit works and I’m very happy with the price. Better binding posts would have earned 5 stars, there’s really no excuse for how terrible the nuts are!

Hits harder than anything you can find in farm supply store
This is the best charge controller i have ever bought this thing hits like a truck and i love that i can see the battery life on the unit and see the voltage that it puts out. even though Fault is spelled wrong on the unit its great to know when there is a short in the system and i need to check the wire saves tons of time. mine has lasted a while so far for the money its the best. You cant even find one in the US that hits as hard as this one does. my one complaint is the connecter terminals are hard to get a wire onto but i think they have updated it. I also love you can you use battery or AC power that is huge for me because i move the controllers around a lot. I do need a new AC adapter plug i ran over it by accident

Game changer for our farmstead
Absolutely love this energizer. Keeps our goats and pigs in no problem. The joules and price is no comparison to our local farm stores. Is size is small unit and the alarm is LOUD! The instructions are clear and it’s easy to set up. This bad boy was a game changer.

Shocking twist
Worked well for the first 4 months then the 12kw post went dead. Switched to the 8kw post and continued to use. That was fine since the 12kw had given my livestock a healthy respect for the fence. I bought this energizer Feb of '24 and now it’s April of '25 and the energizer has completely stopped energizing the fence. Instead, it apparently is energizing itself though. Last night while trying to test the outputs since the fence is dead (but the battery still shows 11.9 volts) the dang thing gave me a full body hit when I touched the orange plastic case - not fun and l am still sore all over the next day. l am now looking to replace since apparently there is no Warranty on this unit...

Stopped working in 3.5 months
I bought two of them, one in April and one in May, the one I bought In May started to show that it was only receiving 9v. I tested my battery and confirmed the battery was at 12 V, and I tested the voltage at the power supply wire and it was 12 V. I opened the unit and saw this circuit on the board. This unit lasted me 3 1/2 months.

Don’t waste your money
As a follow up to my first review, don’t buy any of this junk. 160 bucks plus is a lot to throw away on a total piece of junk. 6 weeks and ready for the garbage. Crap, crap, crap.
