A visual treat for nostalgic Eastern European millenials
I bought this book because I’ve been following Cassandra Calin’s work online for many years. The cover and snippets of illustrations that I saw online reminded me of the W.I.T.C.H comics I used to collect when I was Lia’s age (and judging by the first chapter, I think she would have definitely been a fan of!). I am not in the target demographic for this book, but it was great to get lost in a comic book in a very similar way to when I was 12-13. I would highly recommend this book, it is a visual treat and the story is engaging!

girls, moving countries, friendships
A Scholastic graphic novel. Thanks to Kiran at Scholastic for the copy. This was released on 6th June. Lia's family are leaving Romania, and the rest of their family and friends for Montreal, Canada. As if that isn't bad enough Lia's first period and the resulting pain comes while she is waiting in the airport to board the plane! Canada is difficult, the food she likes she can't find. The school teaches in French which she doesn't understand so she has to go to language lessons. And just how do you make friends when you don't understand them! She is excited by the school magazine and the chance to do illustrations and photos for that. Slowly things improve for Lia. She gets better at French, she makes friends and finds a Romanian shop to buy her favourite foods from! A good graphic squarely aimed at girls. Lots of discussion about periods and boys.

Un acierto de regalo
Ha sido para regalar, pero parece ser que el libro está muy bien. Y que le gustaría tener la segunda parte (parece que hay otro). Así que: muy recomendable para jóvenes adolescentes
