Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project Omnibus Volume 3

I started with the first omnibus and enjoyed the quirky, fan-service laden take on Evangelion. However, it keeps treading the same ground over and over again. I'm beginning to wonder if this is actually going anywhere. The fan service is getting to face-palming levels of ridiculousness and I feel like some relationship progress really needs to be made in the next book or I might lose interest in continuing on.
