Q: does it come with a charger?

No, you'll need a charger with USB connecting cord with the proper connector at the charger end. Believe it's the same connection as used for an older Samsung cell phone.

Q: The descriprion touts hands-free calling but one of the Q&A responses says call audio doesn't come through car speakers. Can you clarify how it works?

My call audio comes through my speakers, however I believe the mic is on the back of the on/off button that hangs out of the tape deck

Q: Can it charge while it is inserted into the dash or would I need to take it out charge it then re-insert it?

You would take out to recharge. I've found tho the charge lasts a long time so need to do that is not really a big problem.
