Are the cushions thick enough to be comfortable?

I have not used this furniture extensively, but can tell you that pieces are comfortable. The cushions are fine so far. The pieces appear slightly small , so they may not be appropriate for a large space. They fit perfectly in my average sized porch.

What color are the cushion seat covers? Are they removable for washing?

Seat cushions are a light grey. I haven’t needed to remove the outside but they do have a zipper. Very sturdy material. Has withstood puddles of water and dries quickly.
