These things are not the horseshoe-shaped magnets you used to get in the old five and dime stores They are very, very strong. I had a specific problem: trying to locate studs behind a drywall. Those electronic ones at a reasonable price point don't get positive reviews, and I saw some that were magnetic that seemed to do better. Guys on YouTube suggested just dangling a magnet near the wall. I wouldn't want them anywhere close to magnetic digital media I wanted to preserve. Anyway, long story short, I taped a string to one of them and found the studs immediately(technically, locating the nails in the studs). I regret all those hours of fiddling with a so-called stud finder and thumping on the wall. I understand, though, why these thin ones might break if you don't slide them off the stack instead of pulling them up vertically. With some imagination, this quality magnet should have many uses.

Very pleased with these smooth powerful resourceful magnets. Of course if you are going to pack such strength into a bar magnet you need to know how to handle correctly, slide them apart, avoid allowing them to harshly snap together. Haven't had a single one break on me and I'm using them all over the house and office various uses. Don't let others' "user error" put you off these very useful inexpensive magnets.

These magnets are pretty strong, I bought a blackboard calendar from Target cause I wanted one on my fridge to keep track of stuff. But I think my board itself is too heavy for these magnets. It keeps sliding down my fridge. I superglued it onto the back of the frame.

These magnets are super strong. Think of them as a permanent magnet for long term use of a poster etc. SUPER strong! Will not dissapoint

these magnets work great. I use them to hold my drapes in place. You cannot really notice them

These break fairly easily and aren-xt as strong as I thought they were.
