This is a game changer!
I am always someone who is big on safety and nervous to open the door for strangers. I live in an area where there are alot of homeless people, and it makes me very nervous. With that said peace of mind is extremely important to me. Previously i was using a doorbell that was a competitor to Ecobee but one i was extremely unhappy with. Upon getting my ecobee i was thrilled how wonderful this product really is. Not only does it have a very sleek design which i absolutely love, but it also is home kit enabled which my other one was not. I love that i can sync this to all my other smart features in my home in one app. I also love all of the really cool things you can do with this. The picture quality is extremely clear and the chimes are very nice. This was very easy to set up and the instructions were very clear. This brand is a brand now i want to buy all the products from. If you havent yet tried ecobee products i would advise you to not sleep on it. They are competitively priced!

I love my new doorbell
This was my first time using a video doorbell, and I was initially worried about the wiring. But the setup was surprisingly simple, thanks to the step-by-step guide in the app. I was also pleased to discover that my old mechanical chime continues to function with the ecobee doorbell camera after installing the included chime adapter—it was a nice touch! The video quality is excellent, and the wide field of view provides a great look at my porch. I also appreciate the motion detection range adjustment in the app, which allows me to customize what gets detected, reducing unnecessary alerts. One of my favourite features is the integration with the thermostat. I didn’t expect to use it much, but I love that I can quickly glance at my thermostat to see who’s at the door when the bell rings. Overall, this doorbell camera has exceeded my expectations. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and packed with useful features. Highly recommend!

Which of the 3 to pick
Of the camera doorbells on the market this one if my favorite, however I think you may want to consider on of the others, depending. Logi was the only doorbell with noticeable downsides outside of having a secure platform. Nest and their ecosystem was the best for full home automation and Eco was the best for a secure platform/ standalone product/ Apple Home iOS product. though you really can't go wrong with any of those 3.LogiI'll start by stating there really isn't a bad choice here, with the possible exception of logi, between them getting obsessively hot and not being terribly reliable. My dad has one and he has both issues though not enough so that he gets rid of it.RingI had a Ring for years and it worked well. It was easy to install and the notifications were accurate. Plus the community is huge so you'll know when something happens. For example when something happened at a local elementary school my ring doorbell let me know first. Same for amber alerts. This is solid choice, though not the securest platform as the only downside here.Google - NestThey make a great doorbell. The major advantage this doorbell has is that it goes with the google ecosystem. I.E. if you want a lot of home automation, or you're in their ecosystem already there is no reason not to grab this doorbell. It's not the most secure platform either though not the least.EcoThe picture is great, it works by far the easiest with other systems (like Apple or iOS), and there are no large downsides. If you want a secure platform or are using Apple's Home App this is your best bet.

Worked for 6 months, then quit.
Bottom line up front, the unit works great, but is hampered by the companies need to try to cash grab with their subscription to their “security”, as well as potential quality control issues and longevity issues. The fact that this doesn’t integrate with HomeKit secure video is an automatic 2 star max.Installed Christmas Day and the doorbell worked great for almost 6 months. Aside from the lack of HomeKit Secure Video functionality the doorbell worked great, until it didn’t. One day, I noticed I couldn’t connect to it through the app. So when I got home I took a look and it had a blue ring circling the doorbell. Followed the support steps to reset it and the reset button doesn’t do anything, at all. So I removed power and rebooted the doorbell. Same issue. So I contact support, which is complicated by being outsourced and language barriers, even through the chat. They ask me to bypass the chime adapter, verify the wiring, and transformer voltage. After that’s complete it’s after support hours so I have to contact them again during normal hours. The next support person has me repeat a lot of the same steps, requests more pictures of the equipment and wiring, as well as the transformer. Finally, after 3 days of contacting support, and 3 different support people they decide I need a replacement. To me, if a major part of the unit, the reset button, is non functional, that would indicate that something is wrong with the unit. We’ll see how the replacement does when it gets here.

It's BIG but it's insanely great, except...
Edit: 12/3/23. I upgraded my doorbell transformer about a week ago. I was using one that provided 24vac 20 amp. It was a small generic one that I picked up at Home Depot. I replaced it with an Edwards Signaling 598. Now I’m getting 24vac 30 amp. The old transformer was running very warm and I believe it may have been inadequate for this application. The ecobee doorbell requires a lot of power and my 1950’s Westminster door chime has a Telechron clock built in which also draws constant power. Since the upgrade I have not had anymore issues with the ecobee doorbell going offline. It’s been rock solid stable. I have no idea if any firmware updates have come down as ecobee doesn’t alert you to them. If any more offline issues arise I’ll edit this post again.Edit: 11/21/2023. It suffered its first instance of falling off-line/unreachable. I guess I’m used to this kind of stuff because I was going through it with the WeMo. Sincerely hope that ecobee puts out some firmware updates that add a few more features and stabilityI'm replacing a WeMo Doorbell with this one for a few reasons. WeMo doesn't seem to update or support their product anymore. HomeKit automations have stopped working with the WeMo and for me that's a deal breaker. On to this doorbell, Overall I'm pleased with it. The physical size of the unit is quite large. I'm unsure why it has to be this large but it is. It almost didn't fit on the door frame where my existing button used to reside. The physical button is also very large and unmistakable. It's easy to push and plays a nice melody so that the person who pushed it knows that it's been activated. The video quality is outstanding. It also has a few trick features such as software based pan and zoom to keep a person centered in the frame. It has onboard A.I. Learning for package / people / car / animal detection. It's supposed to be faster and more accurate to detect what's it's supposed to and better at rejecting everything else. Doorbell notifications are played from your existing chime or through one of their premium thermostats. If you have it integrated with HomeKit or Alexa it will also chime through smart speakers. The thermostat also acts as a video screen so that you can see and interact with whoever is at the door.It integrates beautifully with HomeKit and will show alerts on all Apple Devices including AppleTV. However, they crippled one important feature of HomeKit that I personally find reprehensible. They do not allow HomeKit Secure Video recording. If you want recordings from this product you will have to subscribe to the ecobee Security suite. It's $5 a month just for this doorbell. Their Security suite offers more than what HomeKit offers so in my mind they should have marketed that as an upgrade if HomeKit Secure Video doesn't meet your needs. Instead they have blocked all recording behind a Paywall in order to extort more money from you. I've already invested in 2 of their premium thermostats and now this doorbell and it makes me kinda angry that they're doing this. As a work around I've installed a Logitec Circle View camera in an overhead corner of my front entrance to do the recordings and I use this doorbell for everything else. I have enough subscriptions in my life and don't want another. Also, it does not allow for HomeKit automations based off motion or light levels. I was able to do these types of automations with the WeMo and I’m pretty sure that the Logitech Circle View Video Doorbell allows them also based off of my experience with the Circle View Cameras that I own. For my purposes I am able to do the one automation that I really need based off a single doorbell button press. I can have HomeKit turn on a light in my entrance when the button is pressed BUT I had to use a third party App to access that feature. The App is called “Controller” and is available in the Apple App Store. It unlocks hidden features of HomeKit that aren’t available directly in Apple’s Home App. This is the automation that stopped working with the WeMo but it works on this unit.I also wanted to speak to the speed of the notifications. I find that it’s very quick to notify me with notifications on my iPhone, ecobee thermostats and most importantly video pop ups on my AppleTV screen. It works nearly instantly and it works every time. The WeMo was hit or miss with the AppleTV pop ups and that is one feature I must have.

Seamless Home Security with Peace of Mind—Perfect Integration with Ecobee Ecosystem!
I couldn’t be happier with the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera. We recently moved into a new home, and I wanted a reliable security solution before heading on a Royal Caribbean cruise. After some research, this one seemed like the best fit, and I’m thrilled with my choice.Installation & Customization:Setting it up was smooth, especially with the Vivria power adapter I bought separately, which worked perfectly with my setup. I took a bit of extra time to drill at an angle to hide the wires, as shown in my photos, to keep things as clean as possible. While the wire-hiding part was more about personal preference, the doorbell itself was truly plug-and-play, and everything you need for the basic install is in the box. As you can see in the pictures, the install was clean other than my first missed drill attempt/minor paint touchups.Integration with Ecobee Ecosystem:What makes this doorbell camera shine is how well it integrates with my Ecobee Thermostat. Not only was setup a breeze with the Ecobee app, but I can actually use the thermostat as a video hub when someone rings the doorbell (you can see this in the photo). This setup lets me see and speak to visitors directly from the thermostat, which is super handy. Plus, both the thermostat and my Ecobee indoor cameras work as chimes, so no matter where we are in the house, we can hear when someone’s at the door.Peace of Mind While Away:The camera gave us total peace of mind while we were on vacation. The live remote viewing, real-time alerts, and the fact that it qualifies us for an insurance discount make this doorbell camera worth every penny. It really helped us relax, knowing we could check in on the house whenever we wanted.Final Thoughts:I can’t recommend the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera enough. It’s a solid investment that makes home security simple and seamless. If you already have an Ecobee setup, this is a no-brainer.

the Ecobee Smart Doorbell is a strong contender in the smart home market
I recently got my hands on the new Ecobee Smart Doorbell, and I have to say, it’s an impressive addition to any smart home setup. Right out of the box, it gives off a premium feel with a sleek, modern design and solid build quality.Installation was straightforward, especially if you’re already using Ecobee products. The doorbell integrates seamlessly with the Ecobee app and works great with Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The 1080p HD video quality is crystal clear, even at night thanks to the infrared night vision. The wide-angle lens gives a great view of your doorstep, and the motion alerts are fast and accurate. One of the standout features is how well it handles package detection and visitor recognition. Plus, the two-way audio is surprisingly clear, letting you talk to delivery drivers or guests in real time.Overall, the Ecobee Smart Doorbell is a strong contender in the smart home market. It’s stylish, reliable, and packed with features that make your home feel more secure and connected.

Good First Effort, But Needs Some Work
The Ecobee Smart Video Doorbell is my first video doorbell. Now that I have had it for a few weeks, I can see it is a good first effort, but it needs some work to make it better. It hasn't lived up to the product description in my opinion. The angle mount is not enough of an angle to center the detection area in the center of the camera view. It needs more of an angle. I get too much of the wall on the right camera view and not enough of the area in front of the door on the left of the camera view. I hope Ecobee will eventually offer a variety of angle mounts with different amounts of angles. The included one is not sufficient for my installation.Even though I have the seasonal wall decoration outside of the the customizable camera view, it is frequently causing false "Motion" and even "Person" detections when the wind blows the decoration tassels even a small amount. I also get false detections when the wind sways the porch swing. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove the porch swing from the detection area.Ecobee tech support was excellent when I inquired about how to wire my two chimes. They directed me to a link for a wiring diagram that was just perfect for my type of two-chime installation. The installation kit includes two adaptor wires with spade lugs on the ends to assist in connecting the doorbell to the doorbell wiring. I was very glad for these as it was the only way to make the connection due to the short length of the doorbell wires at the doorbell mount. I really could have used two more of those little spade-lug wire adaptors to connect the wiring to the transformer. I suggest Ecobee include more than two of those spade lug wire adaptors for customer convenience in transformer wiring.By the time I get a detection notification on my phone, open the Ecobee app and click on the live camera view, and then wait too long for the live camera view to load, I sometimes miss what happened. Then I have to wait for the video to post to the history and play it back later to find out. The live camera view just takes too long to load. And I have super high-speed Wi-Fi and an extremely fast fiber internet connection.I had a package delivered once without being detected. The delivery person had placed the package on the top edge of the porch at the top of the steps. In trying to figure out why this package delivery was not detected, I discovered that the default detection distance was set at 10 feet. Even though the top edge of the porch is less than 10 feet away from the camera, the camera did not detect the delivery. I changed the detection distance from the default of 10 feet to 20 feet to solve this issue.I really like the cool pan and zoom feature, except when it pans and zooms to the wall decoration when the wind blows the tassels on the decoration a bit. This happens even though the decoration is not in the customized detection area. Also the pan and zoom is quite jerky. Otherwise, I really like the pan and zoom feature. It's a very nice touch. I probably will not subscribe to the monthly security subscription as I have found, through my research, that the monthly charge is not competitive enough. In summary, the installation went smoothly but took a couple of hours. It would have been easier if there were two more spade-lug wire adaptors included. Fortunately I happen to have a masonry bit the right size. Most people won't have one. It would be good if Ecobee included a masonry bit in the installation kit. There are too many false detections and customizing the detection zone doesn't seem to reduce them. The angle mount does not have enough angle for my situation. All things considered, it is a great first try at a smart doorbell, but it really needs some improvements. And this coming from a first-time smart doorbell owner. My expectations set by the product descriptions compared to my actual experience is why I say it needs some improvements.

Product is as advertised, good quality
I've had the doorbell camera for almost two months. The camera functions well, the image quality is nice, and install was a breeze. I also live in northern Alberta, and it functioned without issue during an entire week below -30 degrees celsius. The subscription to have your videos saved on the cloud isn't overly pricey and reasonable. Having to pay a subscription is really the only drawback so far.I like that it integrates with my ecobee smart thermostat, but the functionality is limited since the image only appears on the thermostat screen when someone presses the doorbell button. I wish it would appear on tbe thermostat whenever motion is detected. I'm also pleased that this doorbell camera works with my house's old 16v 10va transformer, and that I didn't need to install a new one. Most new smart cameras require a higher voltage transformer with greater amperage output. I believe the ecobee doesn't require as much power due to the chime adapter having it's own battery. This would reduce the total on system when the mechanical chime is activated. But that's just my personal speculation. There was an issue with the zoom/pan feature, but support was quick to get back to me via email, and they assured me the issue would be resolved with the next patch/update. This proved to be true, and the issue is resolved.Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase so far. And having full control of my home's thermostat and camera on the same app is a pleasant experience. I'd recommend this product to anyone okay with paying for a subscription.

Excellent Video Doorbell with Great Image Quality
I've been using the ecobee Smart Video Doorbell Camera (Wired), and it has exceeded my expectations. The video quality is excellent, with a sharp, clear picture both during the day and at night. The wide field of view lets me see visitors, packages, and the entire front entrance without any blind spots.Motion detection is fast and accurate, and I receive instant notifications whenever someone approaches my door. The live view connects quickly, and the two-way audio is clear, making it easy to communicate with visitors even when I'm away from home.Installation was straightforward, and because it's wired, I never have to worry about charging batteries. It integrates seamlessly with my smart home setup and has been reliable since day one.If you're looking for a dependable smart doorbell with excellent video quality, fast alerts, and reliable performance, I highly recommend the ecobee Smart Video Doorbell Camera.

Love its features and work as intended.
We’ve looked into a bunch of smart doorbell brands; especially offer sustainable products and this one was super well-rated. Got in great price, so felt like a solid deal. It's feels premium, lightweight & complete kit which made our setup so easy. I hope it holds up well since we experience pretty cold weather here. The full HD video plus the quality of sound is amazing; everything is so crisp & clear especially during day time. I like that it has 2 way audio features, night vision and impressive motion detection. The controllable low siren in the app is new for me and nice touch for deterring unwanted visitors. So far, no delay with the ring or app notifications, except when recording motion and updating every two minutes. You can also download the ecobee app and invite family members for easy access when you’re not home. Definitely worth it, and highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade and enhance their home security.Update: 12/28/2025I bought this in April 2025 and everything works perfectly. But by Oct-Dec, the mechanical chime stopped working (no ding‑dong sound), possibly because of the extreme cold. Then in mid‑December, we didn’t fix anything, it suddenly started working again.

Good Doorbell Camera
I would give this camera a 5-star rating except for three things: 1. the time delay between the camera detecting a person or doorbell ringing and providing a video impage is too great; 2. It does not yet work with Google (unlike my ecobee smart thermostat which, by the way, also displays the camera image) and 3. it doesn't store locally but requires a subscription to ecobee Smart Security @$14/month to obtain historical data. The installation was quite straight forward with the ecobee app on my cell phone. The provided door chime adapter has to be wired into the door chime, also a simple task provided the door chime is compatible. Unfortunately my 22-year old chime was not. But everything works like a charm after I replaced the old chime (the list of compatible chimes is very extensive and available on the ecobee website). Also, I had to replace the old door chime transformer with a more powerful model. To sum up, the doorbell has an excellent camera, great detection capability, works with a doorbell chime and provides security.

Not as good as nest
I had the Neat at our last house, in thought I’d try the ecobee to run with the thermostats in my new home. There is no way to go back to a particular time and see what was taking place. The nest (now google) doorbell cam was much better. I have missed the return window, so I’m stuck with it!Video quality is good, set up was not easy, I was on with customer support a few times, and they are amazing.
