It’s a high quality work/combat knife for a really low price.
It’s just what I expected the knife to be! I have had 2 other OKC Spec series knives before this one. Both of them are still in amazing shape considering the heavy use and abuse they have endured. In my opinion this is a high quality work/combat knife for a very inexpensive price. For roughly half of the price of a true K Bar knife. In most ways it’s just as good as a K Bar with one exception. The steel pommel on the K Bar is the only thing that makes a K Bar better. In a real close quarters fight that steel pommel is extremely useful and highly effective. However I do believe that the molded Kraton handle is better for the wet tropical and swamp region that I live in. It will not rot or mildew like a leather handle will in my area and it has a good grip texture. As a side note if this knife is like my other two OKCs? You will never have to worry about the molded grip pulling off of the knife blade! It has a full length tang that is just slightly smaller than the handle dimensions. The lanyard hole tube is installed through a hole drilled in the tang. It is not the long skinny rat tail tang that most larger knives have. I discovered this when I decided to replace the handle on one of my other OKC spec knives. I also confirmed that my other OKC knife has the same type of tang with a thermal camera. Now to the included sheath that came with the knife. I noticed that many people didn’t like the sheath when I was reading the reviews. Honestly these folks must be diehard traditionalist that don’t like anything but leather. Personally I think it’s a great tactical style sheath that is well constructed, has a stitched non opening belt loop, solid MOLLE strap, and 4 eyelets, to mount or carry the knife in multiple ways. I bought the knife to be permanently installed on my body armor plate carrier so I really like the MOLLE option already on the sheath. The bottom line is yes you can get a prettier more expensive knife. But you cannot get a better quality knife.

Extremely good value for a high quality knife
For a knife that costs a little over $40, there is absolutely no better value than the Ontario SP-1. Full-sized, durable, high carbon steel knife made in the USA, this knife could easily be sold for double the price, and frankly I'm surprised they can offer it for this cheap when a comparable knife such as a KA-BAR costs $90. Ontario knives are extremely tough and can take a hard beating while still keeping an edge. The SP-1 is perfect for any sort of indoor or outdoor work tasks. The rubber handle is very comfortable and prevents your hand from moving or slipping during hard tasks. The sheath is surprisingly good and holds the knife very firmly in place. 1075 very easily sharpens and is not a pain to do. Of course, a knife this cheap has to have a few cons: -Like most Ontario knives, the SP 1 is "ugly." Ontario uses powder coating or parkerizing (this one is the former) for most of their knives, and they often look rough and utilitarian. That is because this is built as a work knife rather than a display knife, and the coating is exclusively to protect the blade steel from rust and damage. I personally like how this looks, but if you want a really pretty knife, you might want to shell out for a more expensive knife. -The knife did not come particularly sharp. It will still cut, but roughly tore through paper. I don't care about this because I sharpen my knives the way I want to when I buy them, but I know for some people having the knife come razor sharp is extremely important, so it's worth mentioning. -No trouble yet, but because the knife has a rubber handle over a rat tail tang, I am guessing that is going to be the first part of the knife to start to break down and fail with heavy use. If you store the knife out of the sun and extreme elements, it should last a long time, but if you are going to be very rough on a knife or using it for pounding tasks, like chopping and batoning, it would be better to pick a full-tang knife with hard scales. -This shouldn't need mentioning, but because there is always some ******* complaining that their knife rusted after they left it out wet: this is a carbon steel knife, not a stainless steel knife. It needs to be dried when it gets wet and regularly oiled. Obviously don't buy a carbon steel knife if you are too lazy to do these things. I would recommend this knife to anyone who needs a durable, quality outdoor knife for the cheapest price possible, and it also makes an affordable gift for knife enthusiasts who are introducing a friend or family member into the world of knife collecting.

Doesn't get any better at this price
Outstanding knife for the price. Compared to the Ka-bar it definitely matches the quality and durability. The grip has a nice palm swell and stays put even in wet/slippery conditions. The blade thickness is slightly thicker than the Ka-bar as well. The only upper hand the Ka-bar has over this OKC SP-1 is the steel pommel. Depending on the situation it can become very handy. If you don't feel like spending the extra bucks for the Ka-bar this is definitely the knife to buy. You will not be disappointed. Edge is sharp from the factory, but not hair popping sharp. The only disappointment was that they no longer sharpen the upper swedge. Although unneccessary, I was really looking forward to it. It makes a nice karambit style edge when holding the blade in reverse grip.

Good utility knife!
I can't really expand on what other 5 star reviewers have said about this knife. And I really don't want to write another review stating the same thing. So read the reviews, and if you are on the fence, just buy it! It just happens to be discounted at $26, and that's a bargain!! But even at the normal $36, it's a good buy. I have no issue with the sheath, I've seen worse! Has multiple options for securing to whatever you want to attach it to. Blade was "sharp butter knife" sharp. No problem, I have sharpeners. And let's face it, if you use a knife, you need to know how to sharpen one! So, the folks that want to cry about getting a dull knife: get a sharpener, and learn to use it!! Down grading a knife just because it was sent dull, doesn't get to the real "worth" of the knife. And that is, will it do the job you need/want it to do. I consider this to be a medium sized utility knife. General camp chores or personal defense. It's not a chopper, and not a parring knife. I like the handle far more than the "old" leather washer style. Got this through Amazon. Arrived in a timely manner. Well packaged. Was wanting to do a triple comparison between the SP 1, SP 2, and the SP 6. But Amazon fulfillment center stated it "couldn't send to my address" the SP 2, and the SP 6. But they could send the SP 1...... I'm confused :/)

Big blade great deal
Can't beat the deal !! Get it while it lasts , great company and great products !! Quality is amazing , performance is outstanding , and ergonomics is perfect !! It's light weight but not flimsy , it's strong and rugged but not to bulky , and I love mine !!! Has diffrent ways to mount it and has 2 straps holding the blade to the sheath . The sheath isn't great but the knife makes up for it. The sheath isn't bad either just not anything fancy. Overall great deal and product.

Great American-made Knife
I was very impressed with it right out of the box. Feels very solid in your hand with a very nice grippy rubberized handle. The blade was sharp. It cut through raw steaks on my camping trip like they were made of air. Very tacti-cool look too. Versatile sheath with lots of mounting possibilities. Leg mount, hip mount, backpack mount. Also has retaining snaps on the tang and handle. Highly recommended, especially at this price. This is no queen. This is a working knife that you don't have to feel bad about damaging. It's rugged, but if it does get scratched or chipped, just buy another one.

I'll buy more
An absolute steal at the $26 I paid for it, but I'll buy more at $36. Sharp out of the box, but it's a combat/working edge. It isn't a sushi knife, but 5 minutes on a decent quality stone gave me an edge that sheds arm hair like a dog in summer-with the factory bevel. You don't need to reprofile the edge bevel to make it sharp enough to shave hair. Total blade length measures 6 15/16" long, with the edge covering 6 1/2" of that. It is 3/16" thick at the spine (measured with a digital caliper). Sheath isn't bad. Good protection and retention and lots of mounting options. Overall blade profile is the same as the Ka-Bar military combat knife and the steel is 1095 high carbon (good stuff), so if you get it for self defense know that this basic design has been getting the job done since 1943. Balance isn't bad at all, mine balances on the flat end of a pencil at the blade/handle joint. All in all, great quality design and execution. I can easily envision someone, years from now, saying "This was my grandpa's knife".

Great American Knife. Superior value !
Tough as nails. Not too big and definitely not too small. I love the handle. The edge is ready to go as is and if you desire it sharpens easily. The knife is as good as it gets and a superior value. I can’t imagine a knife related task that would be too much for it. I have yet to break a knife made by OKC. The scabbard is adequate. I took a black sharpie to the white stitches on the face and will attach a small pouch. This a superior combat ready knife that won’t let you down and any soldier, sailor or airmen would be well served armed with one of these.

Inicialmente afiada. Bem construída (faca e bainha). Leve.

The Best affordable Combat knife out there!
Great quality Combat knife however the sheath is garbage. OKC bring back the old sheath!!!! It scratches up the guard as you can see in the second picture. The blade is flawlessly sharp but a honing rod is recommended. The lines on the blade match up perfectly and the bevel on the blade is good but not perfect. Highly recommend and I own many knives. I prefer this Combat knife over the more popular versions out there.
