I hate it took me so long to try the meeden cold press. It's divine and very affordable in my opinion especially considering it's 100% cotton. Im no pro but I paint as often as any pro honestly. I'm obsessed with everything watercolor but especially paper. I don't think there is a brand I haven't tried. I actually thought I found the best in the Winsor and Newton paper. I know arches is the standard and it's great but I really like a WHITE paper. Arches and Saunders are identical to me. Same feel and look. Great paper but not as smooth as like and definitely not as white. Hahnemhle (sp) is really nice but almost too smooth (I know..I'm picky). The New York Central is fantastic and about neck and neck with the Winsor and Newton for being white and a smoother cold press without being..well..hot press. I have the Meeden Hot Press and really like it but I still gravitate towards cold press. I decided to try Meeden yesterday on a whim (just so I knew I tried them all) and just finished painting on it and THIS IS THE ONE ...COLD PRESS ..smooth but not too smooth..THICK, ABSORBS, it's still got tooth...it's TRUE WHITE like the WN, NYC but this is where it rises to the top...$$$$...The price is right. Best price, best finish, Fast shipping, Beautiful finish, Great price.. Im forever faithful. If you need more texture you can use the rough grain so I can't imagine this not being preferred by most. This paper block is amazing! I just tried it for the first time on a landscape and oh my god from the first stroke I knew it was good stuff. It’s cold press, perfectly cold press. It’s less rough then arches which I prefer and unlike all other blocks I’ve used the corners haven’t peeled off the block before I’m done painting. The glued edges are far superior to all other blocks I’ve tried. I haven’t tried removing the painting yet, I legit finished it and had to come leave this review, but I don’t mind if it’s slightly harder to remove the page so long as the pages stayed glued while working, which they do. It’s 100% cotton, acid free and seems to have a good amount of sizing. Really good stuff. Seriously, just try it.

I love this paper. I'm not going to say it as good as Arches, but it is affordable and works exactly like I think watercolor paper should work. It lifts easily, does not tear, stays wet. It is an awkward size but i like it.

Updated Review: My biggest con from my original review, was that the gluing around the edges of the block was too thick and caused many rips on the page beneath it when trying to separate a page from the block. It seems that this issue was corrected or adjusted as of November, 2025. I have had no issues within the last month or so. I have tried out several sizes and all of them have been much better from the gluing angle. I do now recommend the paper. It's actually great. But there is another main issue that I've recently come across, which is a matter of the listing info. The listing states that the 15x10 size is actually 15x10 (and a quarter), but the BLOCK itself says 15 x 11. I bought some large frames that have a 15x11 mat, only to find that the paper is too small for it. It's frustrating! I hope/wish Meeden will update their printed information on the covers of the block to list the correct size. This is just a heads up for anyone looking into this size. Again, even though it says 15x11 on the block, it is ACTUALLY 15x10. Plan accordingly. Original Review: The paper quality is excellent (it is just a renamed Baohong, after all) and I've really enjoyed painting on this 100% cotton cold press. BUT (and it's kind of a large But...) I've only used three of the sheets, and I must say that the other reviewers who mentioned the strong gluing around the sides of the block, well, they were absolutely spot on: The glue is far too excessive and strong, and it is nearly impossible to remove a page from the block without either damaging the top page or the one below it. I have been extremely careful, methodical, slow, and have used a clean and sharp razor thin box cutter. Damage every time. Not huge damage, but it's enough to be noticeable. This, to me, seems like a real shame and may prevent me from purchasing another block when I've finished with this one. The price is fantastic, and as I said the quality of the paper itself is really excellent, but damaging pages makes it a no-go when it comes down to it. Yes, I could just crop out the small damaged edges of the pages, but I feel like I shouldn't have to. Maybe if you were creating deckled edges anyway, it wouldn't matter. As I said, the paper itself is excellent. I can't really recommend the paper as it is now. If they could update their manufacturing on this, it would be an automatic recommend from me. Just not at this time.

Just started watercolor and struggled with low quality paper until this one. Great texture and quality. Holds water exceptionally well and good for wet on wet and layering.

I love this paper, beautiful quality for the price

This paper is a part of my study of readily available high-end cotton papers. Of course we compare everything to Arches, and I have had lots of experience with that, Fabriano and New York Central, as well as some other cotton papers that I'd rather not mention. My biggest issue with Meeden is it peels with rough treatment perhaps a tad faster than Arches of Fabriano. (layer 7 instead of layer 8). Lifts nicely, layers nicely. Zero issues with any blend or lift. Stays wet a tad longer than normal. I've recommended this to other good watercolorists, and the word they all give for this paper is, "forgives." In watercolor language that means it is very easy to work. For example, should you be shading a face and need to leave areas to blend a bit late. This allows that, a big measure of the worth of the paper. At half the price of Arches, it paints just fine, and the results are smooth and excellent. I will buy more of this, and not for practice paper, either.

よくセールされてるので、気付いた時に買っています。コットン紙の中ではコスパも良いので、気軽に本番練習用として使えます。丈夫な紙でマスキングも問題なく、水を多用しても曲がりにくいので、好きな水彩紙の一つです。中目でも結構ザラザラしてるのでドライブラシはやりやすいです。

Ich bin sehr zufrieden: Erstens ist der Block am Rand verleimt, sodass das Papier beim Trocknen keine Wellen wirft. Zweitens nimmt es die Farbe langsam, aber hervorragend auf, wodurch sich wunderschöne Farbverläufe erzielen lassen. Sogar die Farben scheinen beim Trocknen im Vergleich zu Papier anderer Hersteller an Leuchtkraft und Helligkeit zu gewinnen.

High quality paper. a bit annoying to get off the pad but the paper is excellent.
