The shoe size varies for a 10 year old boy, so you MUST measure the foot for the proper size and, then, buy shoes the next size larger so there's room for growth, too.  It's also a factor depending on the width of the foot, so it's always better to try on the shoe to be certain it fits properly - a shoes that doesn't fit properly can certainly do harm to the foot and cause problems.  If the shoe isn't comfortable, return the shoes and order from another manufacturer.
