Great little bookends with character and very detailed. A bit costly though.
Bought this as a second gift for my wife. As it reminds us of our time in Kyoto, Japan. The whole train scene is just really cool. The actual assembly went ok, some very small pieces were a bit difficult to put together. I would say that they really need to rethink the sequence of putting things together. I had difficulty with a certain section that involved gluing the gray cardboard, which is supposed to look like corrugated metal sheets. I had crushed the cardboard while gluing it on the wooden roof part. According to the instructions, you were supposed to glue the cardboard on the wooden roof before attaching it to the building. But when you try to attach the finished roof, it doesn’t always fit into place without some pressure. So I feel that you should glue the cardboard on the wooden roof with it already assembled in place. There were a couple of other instances where if you follow the instruction sequence, that you it is actually very difficult to assemble. But all in all this one is great and fun to do. It does not have any painting, just gluing little pieces of paper and things like that. The other designs are a bit more difficult as they involve painting multiple layers of paint in order to complete the bookend. So this one is a bit easier to complete and assemble. Have fun and take your time if you are going to do it. I was under a time crunch and didn’t want my wife to see what I was assembling. Best part is that they all light up and have such a nice look when done.

A most intricate and beautiful miniature diorama
This mini diorama (book nook) depicting a tram (densha, 電車) passing a japanese side alley during cherry blossom (sakura, 桜) time is absolutely amazing. So very fun to build, I built two: one for my sister as a birthday gift and the other I kept myself. The finished result far exceeded my expectations. The only caveat is that the light shade above the bookstore door is too large and thus fits oddly into the given space. The cat in the window is also not to scale, but can easily be chalked-up to artistic license ...

Difficult but Enjoyable
I find the process of assembly very calming. I don't want to think about what I'm doing. I like wood 3d model, lego type building blocks, nuts and bolts type model kits and book nook kits. I enjoy doing the book nook kits the most. So, I've completed 8 kits with different difficulty levels. The first one was a good beginner kit. It was Butterfly of Unknown Lands. It got me hooked on these kits. My least favorite was a Christmas present kit. It had window displays on either side and a little town inside. Oh my gosh it was irritating, fiddly and a pain in the backside. Everything was DIY. The wood wasn't pre-printed for you. The trees had to be assembled from cotton balls and pieces of green foam. Even the tiny presents had to be "wrapped". Some people like that type of kit. For me, it was NOT relaxing. I had to modify quite a bit of it because of my low vision and shaking hands. There were way too many tiny pieces. because my hands shake too much for tiny pieces. Needless to say, I swore I would never do one like that again. Anyway, the Sakura Tram is definitely one of my favorites. It surprised me. I was expecting it to be fairly simple. It's not. It was pleasantly difficult. This one is the step above going into full DIY. You have to assemble EVERYTHING. There are a ton of pieces. The sakura trees and river have multiple layers giving them depth. In fact, everything is like that. Each shutter is at least two pieces. The awnings are about 10 pieces each. The train was awesome. The directions are in black and white. However, they are very clear. Each step is clearly defined. There are tiny parts. It wasn't a huge problem for me even with my shaking hands and poor vision. This one was worth every penny. If you are the type that likes to test the waters first, I suggest doing an easier one like "Butterfly of Unknown Lands", "Sailing Memory", or "Su Dongpo (Ancient China Mountain Scene)". This way you have an idea of how they come together. If you are the type to go straight to the deep end, then go for it. Heck, what do I know. I'm older and slower with shaking hands and poor vision :) I used to have a friend that would always say "It's not a mistake. It's a design feature".

A Beautiful Box
I love the outcome. It took a week to put together. I used Aileen’s tacky glue instead of the glue included. Be gentle with the parts. It is gorgeous on my shelf. It is eye-catching❤️.

If only the directions was in color
This is not the first time I've purchased a Robotime kit, but definitely one of the more simple one. In the other kits, there are more work in creating each individual pieces that requires a lot of cutting and glue usages. For this kit, it was mainly snapping pieces together. All the pieces are colored already with what appear to be high quality paint. Each cuts are smooth, making the need of sanding down the edges minimal. Some sequence in the build are not properly though out. For instance, assembling the battery compartment was in the very beginning of the build. The direction said to insert it into the floor and lock it in place. This is bad choice. The battery compartment has a key which protrude out, while trying to assemble the other pieces, there is a good chance to the key could be snake. The insertion of it should have been left at the end when everything was finished The biggest downside is the directions are in black and white, unlike the other Robotimes kit which were in color. This kit is not for people who what to spend time building the individual pieces but for people who are more use to legos. A final advice is to not use follow the directions on the stickers. After the kit is 99% done, take a look at while picture, then decide if the sticker should be used. Personally, I felt the stickers made the whole bookshelf too busy.

Engaging and fun activity
I thoroughly enjoyed putting this together. This was my first model kit and while it wasn't challenging it certainly was detailed. I didn't realize there was painting so I think if someone did not paint or sand edges thoroughly then maybe they could do it in 6 hours... I did it in 18! Frustratingly the top light failed to illuminate at the final build but it was illuminating along the way. At least the other two work right now. As a note, the lights won't work until the induction sensor is activated in addition to working batteries. I checked mine when it stated to check but the induction wasn't reliable at that stage. For some reason at the end it was more reliable but two pieces of wood between fingers and the induction pad is a little thick. I was missing one of the I pieces but I assumed I could scrap the work out myself later. Thankfully it was small enough I could. However, check where the piece is needed if you're missing anything because it could be vital. Overall, the instructions were clear and correctly ordered. It is overwhelming at first to digest and it certainly can use a better translation. Sometimes I would reverse when pieces are put together because it was honestly easier to add them another way but typically their ordering made the most sense. My big word of caution is to pre-attach pieces to ensure they fit into their holes without problem especially if that piece will have many pieces later when it is actually attached. Love the quality of the product and overall end result! Gifted this to my parents. Both the glue and paint included were more than sufficient (and quick drying!) for this kit!

Absolutely stunning!
So relaxing yet fun to build. I was lowkey sad when I finished, wishing I had about nook book to put together. My sadness did not last long because the final product is absolutely gorgeous. This company also gives you extra pieces in case the little tiny one break. I did not know this until I finished. I would have switched out some of the pieces but overall the wood is sturdy so even with a slightly broken piece everything assembled beautifully. Buying more for myself and gifting this one to friends. Worth every penny. I turned my on often, it’s so cute

Enjoyable to build and enjoyable to look at
As a non-crafty person with big hands, this was surprisingly easy to build. The high quality pieces were strong enough to stay intact even when getting squished by my big fingers. Taking a little over 11 hours to build solo, the instructions were easy to follow, allowing for a pleasant building experience. Aside from two AAA batteries to power the lights, the kit contained everything required to construct. Although the kit does have its own white glue, I opted to use a clear glue just because it was easier to adjust pieces before they dried. The piece of sandpaper included proved to be very useful in smoothing out the edges of the pieces to get a cleaner look. Connecting the wiring for the lights was rather simple and quite easy to figure out, even for someone without any prior experience doing such things before. The end result is wonderful and the incredible amount of details makes this a real treasure to look at. As long as you're patient and careful, the building process and final product will be well worth your time.

I received the wrong product, still 100% worth it!
I received the magic time booknook in err0r. As I was putting it together I considered how I would right this r3vi3w. Leave off a st4r for the slow delivery and incorr3ct product? Once I really started putting things together I decided it was still worth the 5/5, the little details are so beautiful. The manual was all in Chinese, but G00gl3 actually had a really hand translator app I used to verify some parts. The manual was very clear and easy to use. I completed this in 6 hours. I have long acrylic nails which REALLY helped with the small parts. I broke one small piece, but you wouldn’t know it looking at it. Almost everything is made of a very thin wood, but as long as you take your time and gently/thoughtfully apply pressure it’ll go together easily. Def not something to rush. I am no electrician but I was able to easily wire mine together. Just closely follow the instructions and you’ll love it! It was so fun to put together!

Fun kit...
This was my second book nook kit. Bought it April 2024 and just built it last month in December. Just be cautious of the full color sheet labeled "C". This was the only real minor problem I had. The small individual pink flowers, C19 C20 & C21 had some lamination issues. These sheets are all plywood. A few of these little pink flowers came apart. Not a big problem, just glue them back together. It may have just a glitch in the kit I have.
