Very worth it for a hundred dollars!

SHARP has always been a wonderful company in regard to electronics; I still have most of a stereo system that my parents purchased from the mid/late 1980's, and although the CD player unit wore out after about a decade, I've kept the central unit AND those very tall left/right speakers with the smooth wooden finish fully functioning and hooked them up to my computer/iPod via one of those line-in cords, and everything remaining works like a charm! :)Onto the actual product, before I digress, and just wanted to give some praise in regard to a past SHARP product that our family had previously purchased! After becoming frustrated on account of another very well-known brand (I won't mention the name as not to cause them embarrassment!) that manufactures the same type of CD players as the one I'm about to review, I went through TWO of them, in hoping that maybe just the first one was a "dud." Yet again, the second stereo had the same problems as the previous one... About a half year since first using the product, the CD skips, goes silent, starts again, goes silent, sometimes jumps between tracks over the course of the CD, and keeps on going and going... Sometimes it "corrects" itself if you actually let it go after some time, and other times, could go on forever, and the CD needs to be ejected, inserted back into the player for another go, only for the same nonsense to occur again and again, and who wants to suffer through such aggravation, right?! A shame, as that particular product is known for its excellent bass and sound output. :(Fortunately, this SHARP CD player is the closest item to what I once had, and after searching this website for any kind of CD player that wouldn't "break down" within a year after the actual purchase, it was a true Blessing to come across this gem! Maybe it was just a "freak" incident, but I've only had the power go off by itself while the CD was playing one time; Maybe it's because I used the remote to start the CD on a different track to my liking and the system didn't agree with it? With CD players, there will be quirks here and there, as long as they're not routine! Another heads-up, so buyers won't be alarmed, is that sometimes when the CD is inserted, the player needs to "read" the disc before it can be played, and it won't always process and will display, "No disc" on the screen that shows the track number and track time of the CD; No worries! Just keep ejecting and keep trying, sometimes turning the power on and off while the CD is still within the unit, and eventually the CD WILL play; This may SOMETIMES be the case, but most times the CD will start right up... I try to give the products the benefit of the doubt, such as the anti-shock scenario with the CD discmans from the 1990's and early 2000's, whenever they were moved or "bumped!"Please be patient as things seem to work a bit slower with this particular CD player verses the one in which I've had a bad experience with... Give it a few seconds to warm up when the power is turned on, and also if you use the "Repeat All" feature, if you want your CD/album to keep playing... Some brands of CD players take you from the end of the final track on the CD back to the first track at lightning speed, whereas SHARP takes a few seconds to return back to base, so accept the delay, as long as the music plays without interruptions. One more thing: If you are listening to an album where all of the tracks "merge" into one another (Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall" are two examples), there is a limitation as the CD will "pause" for a nanosecond, while changing over to the very next track in the sequence, if that makes any sense. If this doesn't bother you, then you will be very pleased with your experience using this SHARP CD player. It may sound like I have a lot of negative material to say, but this is just how the product functions, and I have no problems with it at all, and it's still functioning beautifully to this day; Just wanted to be honest with buyers, in case they had certain expectations in their minds. The most important thing is that you get very satisfactory sound quality, as opposed to back in the day, when you had the option of regulating the bass and treble knobs or switches to your liking on the older stereo systems; Everything is in its place! *On this particular unit, the volume goes up to "32," and "20" is pretty loud; 20 is great to have it set to, as long as there's no one else in the area at that time, out of respect to neighbors, otherwise stick to keeping it between 12-14! ;) Also, if you're like me and have a collection of "re-mastered" CD reissues of music/bands from the 1960's and 1970's, it's WIN-WIN with the output of the sound quality! :)The product is designed very nicely and isn't very heavy to lift, has a nice finish on the top that won't attract dust if not wiped down daily, remote comes with batteries, and the nicely looking silver-coated volume knob and buttons that operate the CD on the actual unit are easily accessible. Depending on what technology you use to access your music, if you're still in "CD" mode like me, versus those who listen to vinyl, downloads/streaming, etc., and you have a CD player that just won't cooperate, definitely invest in this SHARP edition... You'll be glad you did! :) Thanks for taking the time to read, and may God Bless you all with the very best in life! ~Kindest regards from Kevin :)

GenX is calling...

Gather 'round young ones. I'm going to tell you a story about the early aughts. Back in the days of yore, Starbucks had CDs for sale at the counter. They were made through the HearMusic label and the compilations were really awesome. Like, really, really good. Everything from hip hop to jazz to pop to classical to holiday. (The holiday CDs were the best, IMO.) Its music that you can't find on Amazon, and are not longer produced because HearMusic went south many years ago. I still have all of the CDs I purchased during that era, hence the reason for the purchase of this player. The case of this player is really good looking. Clean and simple with BUTTONS and a dial to navigate around. The sound is deep and clear and resonates throughout the house. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it.LONG LIVE THE CD!!

Surprisingly Good sound; especially so for the money

I bought this for Mother's day for my wife. It is to replace my much loved Como Musica which died when static electricity fried something. THEN a couple of moths later, Como went out of business which I discovered when I tried to buy another. Rest in peace, Como, you filled a unique niche in quality audio. The Sharp CD BH-10 is very close in sound to the Musica (far from a perfect match, but VERY good). It will fill a small room with plenty of music. It's a simple device to set up and operate with the exception of setting the clock. The clock instructions ARE in the operations sheet, which comes in English, French, and Spanish. See the included photos. The single disc CD player is consistent, in operation, with older CD players of, say, 5 - 10 years ago. True, it doesn't work as fast as more modern CD devices, but the sound quality is very good. If your love of music stems from a "chill out, slow down, and relax" philosophy, this CD player will not bother you.I was worried that the Mahogany color would clash with our minimalist house furnishings. Our Musica (SOB!) came in a wooden, high luster, Piano finish black. However, the Mahogany is very dark, closer to a Dark Coffee finish. Quite pretty. and the cabinet has a lot of wood in it which translates into a pleasant warm sound. I will likely attach a Wiim Mini Audio streamer to it via bluetooth or line in for listening to Spotify or Amazon Prime Music. The back has no input or output plugs on the back. Just the power cord and FM antenna input. There is a USB Type A "in" port and a 3.5 mm line in plug on the front panel. So no secondary speakers can easily be attached. One of the two input methods should be able to support an external streaming device though it would h ave to be plugged in from the front. It supports Bluetooth IN, but not out.I suspect that this is what many people call "Old, New Product". That is, somebody found a warehouse full of new, unused devices stored where people forgot about them. They buy them for very little money, and sell them at reduced prices. The CD player would also support this theory. If you go to the Sharp USA web site, you won't see ANY audio equipment mentioned. They are out of that market and have been for quite a while. If so, that doesn't matter to me, the BH10 is exactly what I'm looking for. That is, an attractive, small room appliance, with very good sound. What this means for those reading this, is that there are likely limited supplies of this thing, And once they're gone, they are gone. If this thing holds up, I will grant 5 stars.I am pleased with my purchase, and for the small amount of money and resultant risk involved, I can recommend it to others.

Good looks, good sound, easy to set up and use.

So far I'm really happy. Good sound fills a large room for listening while reading or cooking. Good to get my CDs out of storage and enjoy all the music (that I spent so much money on) again. I like the size -- picture a large one-volume unabridged dictionary -- the looks, solid black and deep black oak-like "wood" finish top -- the convenience. Chose this because it can be operated without the remote (buttons on player -- so old-fashioned) just it case you lose it. I don't plan on using it for bluetooth or radio, so it was easy to set up.
