Mattie Sue Athan has done it again! And this time--co-authoring with Dianalee Deter, has given us an excellent guide to owning the complex African grey parrot. These authors have written comprehensive, thorough and easy to read advice to anyone thinking of living with one of these intelligent parrots. Novices, as well as experts, can glean new knowledge herein, and can totally put their trust in the hands of these two. Mattie Sue Athan, as always, is a parrot's best friend. This book is a wonderful addition to MSA's Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior and Guide to a Well Behaved Parrot, which no parrot owner should be without. I reference mine time and time again. Now, if only my African grey could type, I know she would give it 5 stars herself!

Great useable information. This book helped me understand Timmy,African Grey , I inherited 6 weeks ago. I was able to improve his diet ,including trying new foods. I was able to improve his behavior , reduce territorial running and “showing beak” . 1st Vet appointment , Doctor said he was doing well and easiest TAG she’d had to examine

I found this book the perfect addition to my library and is so helpful to have on hand while raising an African Grey. Very satisfied and I highly recommend it!

The book is good. It has detailed information as well as stories that encourage the reader and Grey owner to 'do whats right' with their grey. I did not like how you had to jump back and forth through the book to cover one topic. If you can deal with jumping pages and chapters (at times) then no worries. This book is very thorough and will help both the novice and give great reminders for the breeder.

This is hands down a must have book for an african grey parrot! Mattie Sue Athan provided a vast amount of valuable info on these parrots and is a must have for the african grey owner!

Informative, but the real thing is infinately more complex. I have two such birds and their personalities, though accepting to me are very different and they are a little jealous of each other.

The book was sent on time and I received it earlier than I expected. It was in pristine condition when it arrived. It is very good and provides so much information on the African Grey Parrot. I really like it.

Excellent book with some very good hints and tips for handling and keeping an African Grey a happy parrot.
