Training Day [Blu-ray] [2001]

On his first day on the job as a narcotics officer, roookie LA cop jake hoyt is sent out on the streets with veteran detective ALONZO HARRIS (denzel washington) for a day that will break him Pass the test he becomes a detecive. Fail it's back to traffic duty. As alonzo pushes his young charge to cross lines and break rules, Jakes misgivings about his superior grow as he begins to suspect that Alonzo does not simply push the boundaries but has become a rogue cop. The films great and Denzel Washington makes this film amazing as his acting is sublime he has again proven that he can play any part in any film .

Really very good film, this one. Oh yes. Right from the word go, it grabs you. Ethan Hawke plays a convincing role as a uniformed cop in the LAPD and his initiation in to the highly dubious role of a "narc". His tutor, played brilliantly by Denzel Washington, is as bent as they come and the drama plays out well as Hawke's character tries to stay above the depraved activities of Washington's character.....a hard line bully, corrupted, and prepared to go to any lengths to get what he wants. A truly memorable film, I can personally recommend it.

I saw this film on the telly and immediately decided that it needed to be included in my library! The film is a stunning combination of splendid performances from the leading and supporting actors, great direction and slick production values. Ethan Hawke (who was so brilliant in Gattaca) plays rookie narcotics cop and this film takes us through his first day in his new role. His superior Denzel Washington is a multi-decorated street-wise cop who has a seemingly unorthodox work style which constantly pushes and tests Hawke. Hawke slowly learns about the dark side of the city streets and the police system. The performances are absolutely stellar, and Washington deservedly won an Academy Award for his role. Hawke is very good as rookie Hoyt. The rest of the cast appear in small supporting roles, but help construct a very believable picture of LA. If you haven't already seen this film, get it on DVD - it is one you'll like to view a few times.

Training Day (2002) is a top film and a classic urban movie, it stars Denzel Washington. what more can i say worth every price why go anywhere else. this is value form money. Must Buy

Fantastic. A great portrayal of corruption in the police narcotic department. Training day was and still is a pioneering film that will have you completely immersed from start to finish. Denzel Washington is absolutely superb and utterly convincing as a narcissistic narcotic detective. Loads of cool one liners, a superb script. This film is one of the best films I've ever watched. This film is a classic. The best film I've ever seen Denzel Wahington in and you can see why Mr Washington won an Oscar.

This film doesn’t let up from the get go. As soon as Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington meet in the cafe at the beginning it sets the tone of what’s to come. Everyone that had anything to do with this film contributed brilliantly; David Ayer’s script, Antoine Fuqua’s direction, and great performances from the 2 leads (no wonder Washington nabbed an Academy Award amongst others) aswell as a supporting cast containing the likes of Dr Dre, Scott Glenn, Cliff Curtis, Eva Mendez and Snoop Dogg to name a few, all we’re brilliant. I usually watch this at least twice a year. If somehow you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend picking it up.

This has to be in my top 10 films in my life time due to the Class story Line & the Denzel Washington plays such a good Cop he makes you think he is a good guy to start off with that is all I need to say, As I do not want to ruin the Story line So this is a must buy if you have a DVD Collection.

Getting up at 5am - yep feels like work!! What on earth has happened to Ethan Hawke?! There's always the weight of expectations on your shoulders from your wife. He looks quite wet behind the ears. DW is very amusing in the coffee house. ".. and the most entertaining story you can tell me is a drunk stop!" "Look man I've got a wife!" - "You got a d^%£!" "There ain't no office baby!" I love Dr Dre! (Its playing in the car). "See you've got to hear the street, you've got to taste it!" "Never wear that wedding ring to work! - I'm serious about that!" "Stay off the Rover!" (Radio). This is a really good film!! "Yeh I know you got secrets." - "Everyone got secrets." "You made a decision. - Live with your decision!" I can sense that there might be some tragedy in store for Alonzo's friend. "Thanks for the help!" Alonzo is a very cool character, in a lot of ways! "That's street justice!" - "What's wrong with street justice?!" "To protect the sheep, you've got to catch the wolf. And it takes a wolf to catch a wolf!" "I was getting my a%$ kicked." - "And I did what I had to do!" Snoop Dog!! "You're a Rookie!" - He gets that a lot!! "You gotta decide whether you're a wolf or a sheep!!" Alonzo is always drinking!! "There's nothing free in this world Jake. - Not even arrest warrants!" Dr Dre!! "Taxation without representation!" "Someone didn't sleep through ethics did they?!" "Listen its not what you know, its what you can prove!" "You give me 18 months, I give you a career." This is a really good film, about morals. - If you haven't seen it already. - Check out Heat. I wonder if Jake turns. I just think this film could have gone in a different direction. - I can see why Denzel Washington won an Oscar though! Ethan Hawke doesn't perform nearly as good as Denzel Washington in my book.

Also hier hat Denzel Washington zu Recht den Oscar bekommen! Es ist eine Meisterleistung was er hier abliefert! Er spielt seine Rolle total zynisch , frech , locker , unberechenbar , saucool bis hin zum absoluten Overacting. Sein Partner Ethan Hawke ist nicht nur Beiwerk , obwohl er schon etwas im Schatten von Denzel steht , sondern auch er spielt gut und füllt seine Rolle gekonnt aus. Die anderen Darsteller bekommen mangels Bildschirmpräsenz nicht die Gelegenheit sich in den Vordergrund zu spielen. Das gilt u.a. für Eva Mendes , Scott Glenn , Tom Berenger , Cliff Curtis u.a.. Die Story zeigt einen einzigen Tag im Leben von zwei Drogenfahndern. Es ist nicht nur die übliche guter Cop , böser Cop Geschichte , Training Day ist mehr! Es ist eine interessante Geschichte , eine gekonnte Mischung aus Action Thriller und Polizei Drama , spannend inzeniert , mit rasanten , dosierten Actionmomenten. Der Film ist ein Must See - und das nicht nur für Action Fans! Ralph Nettelmann Bremen
