SASS RATS SETS ROCKS
I bought this CD many years ago and make the Cardinal mistake of lending it to a friend in order that they may benefit from its content. Never got it back.Re-purchasing it is one of the best things I have done musically.Great rocking sound, Jordan's voice is up there with the Greats. Fantastic. Screaming with power and emotion.Highly recommend it.Baron Barry.

Great album
I like Sass Jordan's music very much. Not to everyone's taste, but I really like this album. (three more words)

sassy indeed
This was the third album released in 1994 by Brum born but Montreal raised Sass Jordan. Previous album Racine is also very good and showed off Sass'es soulful bluesy vocal stylings but this one has the edge with a hefty dose of hard rock thrown into the mix, thanks in no small part to guitar ace Stevie Salas whos Hendrix inspired funkiness takes Sass'es vocals to another level. The rhythm sections not bad either with Brian Tichy [currently with Whitesnake] on drums and Carmine Rojas [Nektar, David Bowie and the last few years with Joe Bonamassa] on Bass. There are no fillers here, even the two gentler tracks 'Suns Gonna Rise' and 'Breakin' fit in perfectly and offer a nice counterpoint to the high energy rock thats on offer, both hinting at Beatlesque melodies, while the album closes with the wonderfully soulful 'Give' with its descending acoustic guitar figure and a vocal duet with the massively underated and overlooked Ian Moore who also fills out the song with some exquisitely subtle electric guitar. Sass would repay the favour by providing backing vocals on Ians second album 'Modern Day Folklore' which came out the following year and is also highly recommended. Not all of Sass'es albums rock in this particular way, follow up album 'Present' has a much more mainstream approach, possibly being influenced by the mass appeal of Sheryl Crow but if you are of an eclectic musical persuasion you will probably enjoy that too.

A Lost Gem!
I bought this album when it first came out in the early 90's and loved it then. Going through my collection recently, I found it again and found that it still sounds fresh and relevent. A GREAT rock album! The drums are chrisp and powerful, the guitars full and rowdy and the vocals range from pure to throat-wrenchingly raucous to er...Sassy! :-)This record sounds timeless. Like it could have been made yesterday, having the production pared down to remove the overblown effect-laden guitars and boomy drums that peppered so many rock albums in the late 80's and early 90's. This is the female equivalent of "Back In Black". QUALITY.Sass was teamed here with the sublime Stevie Salas on guitar (arguably better here than on his own recordings) and benefitted from some great bluesy rock riffs that will hook in your brain and bring you back again and again. The quality of the song writing also matched the quality of the playing, with each song holding it's own well against the last. Even the low-key acoustic "Breaking" is not out of sorts in this company as Sass's vocals make the song sad and sympathetic at the same time. The single "High Road Easy" is a definite highlight and recently was used to great effect to save the bacon of one of the "new stars" on Tommy Lee's Rock Star Supernova recently. A wise choice. On the back of rediscovering this, I bought a couple of Sass's other CDs. They were at best tame by comparison. This, however, is worth the price of admission and more.If you love great rock music, BUY THIS!!!

A wonderful album from a fabulous singer/songwriter
Sass Jordan should be huge and while I know she is well known in her native Canada it seems a shame that much lesser talents have a much higher international profile. Its hard blues/rock but rather than the lazy Joplin comparisons I would suggest she closer to Sheryl Crowe fronting the Band of Gypsys or a female Paul Rodgers. Shes good not just because it is wonderful funky groove music - she's also an interesting songwriter.Start with this album which is probably her best.
