Freewell M2 Magnetic Quick Swap 5-Pack 82mm ND8, ND64, ND1000, CPL & UV Filters

I just received my FreeWell M2 magnetic filter system yesterday. I am not able to comment on image quality, but from the YouTube reviews I have seen there is a good bit of healthy competition and the real difference is bang for buck. FreeWell comes packaged really nice which is always a good sign. In hand the filters do not feel cheap to me at all and they are nicely marked with the F-stop value as well which is helpful. There is nice knurling to get a grip on them with. The carrying case is nice. Good quality materials and zippers made to last and not be crushed easily and comes with a small carabiner. There is some room to accommodate more filters but not much. The threaded rings went on easily on my lens and there was just the right amount of magnetic pull to keep the filter where it needs to be. I have the Tamron 24-70 2.8 and it does not interfere with using the lens hood, and the system I got comes with the lens cap which has a finger ring which makes getting the cap off when the lens hood is on nice and easy, little things like that tell me that FreeWell listens to customer feedback. My set came with a CPL, UV, ND*,ND64, ND1000 which gives you 3-6-10 stops. I was initially nonplused about getting a UV but upon consideration I am glad, I don't have one to protect my lens and I may find myself in some situation where the extra protection is welcomed.

Love this set and makes changing ND filters easy. Also love the lens cap. Seems like decent quality so far.

I bought the 5 pack, because I needed the three ND filters. This is generally a good product, the magnetic force is very strong and holds the filters very well in place. Perhaps a bit too strong if you store the filters attached to each other, it's difficult to get them apart without smudging them with your fingers. The idea of the magnetic lens cap is great, but it has a foldable ring to remove it, which prevents you from standing the camera or lens up on its end, it falls over. The workaround is to pry that ring off, it is held with double sided tape (securely, but removable). I wish they would provide just the three ND filters, without the completely useless UV filter. The CPL filter is a one glass solution, not really sure how it works, but it does remove reflections and makes the blue sky a bit darker. Not as strong as a dedicated two filter CPL, though. The whole set of five comes with a useful hard case, a shammy, a carabiner and a large outside box. The hard case is about the same size as my trusty Tiffen soft case, without the velcro strap, but more protective for the filters for travel. I was able to cram in a set of three 82mm filters attached to each other, the four (ND+CPL) Freewell filters in 77mm separated, plus a 95mm magnetic ring with reducing ring and ND filter, plus a few shammies.

I bought the 82mm size of this kit, although the majority of the lenses I'm likely to use them on are smaller than 77mm. I was following advice I had seen online which seemed to make a lot of sense. Bigger filters can fit smaller lenses, but not the reverse. Also, the larger diameter is a hedge against vignetting. I'm using the CPL a lot these days - it pretty much lives on my main landscape lens. I've also gotten quite a bit of use out of the ND filters. I like the easy-swap quality of the magnetic mount, although I have knocked the filter off. Most of the time, I struggle a little to remove the lens or the magnetic lens cap that is part of the kit. I'm using the carabiner most of the time to hang the case where I can have fairly easy access to it, but I have to remind myself to be sure the case is zipped up before I let it hang. Otherwise, the filters will all fall out of the open case. So far, I've only had a couple of close calls and I'm getting comfortable with the routine.

I use these filters with my Tamron 18-300mm lens on a Sony A6700, and the difference in image quality is immediate. This 5-pack covers every scenario I encounter while traveling, from protecting the glass to long-exposure daytime shots. The Magnetic System The "Quick Swap" name is not an exaggeration. Once you screw the base ring onto the Tamron lens, you can swap between the CPL and the various ND filters in about a second. This is a game changer when the light is changing fast and you do not want to fumble with threads. The magnets are strong and secure, so I never worry about a filter falling off while I am moving. Premium Storage and Portability One of the best parts of this kit is the presentation. It comes in a really nice leather-like pouch that feels premium and keeps everything organized. It also includes a carabiner, which is incredibly useful for clipping the filters to the outside of a camera bag or a belt loop for quick access while you are shooting in the field. Optical Quality The glass is premium, and it shows. I have not noticed any significant color casting, even with the heavy ND1000 filter. The CPL is essential for cutting through glare on water or glass, which really brings those vacation photos to the next level. What is in the Kit: UV Filter: Stays on most of the time for lens protection. CPL (Circular Polarizer): Perfect for boosting blue skies and removing reflections. ND8, ND64, and ND1000: These give you 3, 6, and 10 stops of light reduction. Magnetic Lens Cap and Pouch: The included lens cap is magnetic as well, and the pouch with the carabiner makes the whole system very portable. Final Thoughts If you are a travel photographer, these are a must-have. They are lightweight, high-quality, and eliminate the frustration of traditional screw-on filters. I wouldn't travel without them.

Very fast on-off! I'm seriously considering buying these for all my 77 and 82mm filter size lenses. That would cover 99% of my usage. I do have a 100mm RF macro but seldom would need to mess with filters with that one. My new problem: What to do with the $1k to $2k of B+W filters I have collected over the years?

Beh, io ero abituata in ISI ma questo sistema magnetico veramente favoloso perché sostituisce gli anelli e tu semplicemente cambi il filtro con una facilità incredibile. Poi funzionano anche bene sono di gran qualità con il tappo magnetico. Poi hai risolto tutto certamente ti prendo un attimo dalla composizione dipende da tanti fattori, il paraluce hai un pochino di difficoltà se vuoi utilizzarlo io infatti lo escludo sempre in situazioni di luci controllata, sperando in pochissime luci parassite…

Ótimos filtros e o ímã funciona muito bem! Mesmo virando ou sacudondo a câmera, não cai. Só vai causar um pouco de vinheta se você empilhar dois ou mais filtros e sua lente for muito aberta. Mas fechei de 14mm para 16mm e a vinheta sumiu completamente. Além disso, o estojo é bonito e de qualidade, com bolsos que permitem ver todos os filtros de uma vez. Isso com as indicações nos filtros facilita a organização e escolha.
