THE COSBY SHOW - Complete collection - Series 1 to 8

I had not seen this show in 26 years (or more). I am so glad to be able to finally get the complete show on DVD. And for around £40 as well which is a bargain. Now I can enjoy the full show at my own leisure. The way I prefer to view shows. Not one episode a week per week. I like it all in front of me on DVD. Binge watch or a handful of episodes per day which ever takes my fancy. The 80s produced some of the finest sitcoms ever made. The Cosby Show is a prime example of this achievement. Good clean wholesome family fun. No vulgarity to be seen or heard. You can watch it alone or with kids. No worries as to who is going to say what. I think this is one reason why the show was (and is) so popular. Sure the more adult themed content for sitcoms is good if in moderation. But I will always come back to sitcoms like this more than any other. The boxed set is a Dutch import. So on the menu you have: Speel Alles Afleveringen Ondertiteling Aan Uit This basically translates to: Play All Episode Select Subtitles On Off It is really that simple to use/navigate. The only thing I've come across as an issue is disc one will not play all for me. I have to do each episode one at a time. But on disc two (season one I'm referring to) it plays all with no fuss. From what I've read the UK only has S1 to 4 on DVD so far. If you can tolerate the simplistic menu setup in Dutch. Then the complete show is available. I don't mind menu's in foreign languages. Just as long as the main features play in English and any/all subtitles can be turned off. If so then it's all good for me. This is another fine program to my ever growing sitcom collection. Nothing beats a sitcom to kill boredom or boost morale. Sitcoms come alive more at night I think. During the day is fine as well. But night time viewing as silly as it might sound is magical for the sitcom genre. Can't sleep one night then slap a sitcom on. Works wonders. The one liners come thick and fast in this show. I found myself laughing a few times in the space of a couple of minutes and I was only on S1E1. The Cosby Show is sitcom perfection.

Timeless brilliant humour. Given how many awful sit coms get repeated ad nauseam on TV, I am baffled about why the Cosby show vanished without trace - no repeats - for so many years after the original series ended. I am equally baffled about why this series of DVD's is being published in Europe instead of the USA. Did Bill Cosby offend the CIA or somethng ? I don't care. He and his humour are bigger than they are.

I was surprised to discover how hard it actually is to obtain The Cosby Show on DVD in continental Europe. But fear not, Amazon to the rescue! I decided to buy the boxed set, even though the last two seasons leave much to be desired in terms of storylines. (Like many successful US comedies that are allowed to outrun their creativity for economic gain, by season 6 of The Cosby Show we are seeing recycled story lines, new characters that don't really fit, and celebrity guests as "normal folks" in an attempt to shore up interest.)On the plus side, these are the uncut episodes; when it was broadcast in S. Europe in the 80s and 90s the edited "rerun" version for US television was used, in which entire subplots were cut out in order to allow for more commercial time. Restoring these lost scenes means that several of the episodes make a great deal more sense than when I first saw them broadcast. The packaging and menus are in Dutch, but the episode list is in English, with a few strange errata (Rudy becomes "Ruby" for example). Unfortunately, there are no English subtitles available, only Dutch. Accustomed as I am to all English-language DVDs having English captions for the hearing impaired, this was a great disappointment. It makes me wonder if the US DVDS are captioned, and if so, why the captions were not used for the European market, since many non-native speakers of English find English subtitles helpful.

For the most part this is a really nice set. However, some episodes (such as the second season episode Denise's Decision) will not play. When accessing the episode from the episode menu it returns straight to the menu page and when playing the disc on 'play all' the episode does not appear. This is obviously disappointing. The picture quality is also questionable in some places but in general is very good. The image on amazon advertises a 25 disc set which includes the look back documentary. This is not correct for the set I received. The set packaging is in Dutch but the episode menu is in English (the main disc menu is also Dutch). The Dutch subtitles can be switched off easily.

Fantastic show. I loved the Cosby show years ago when I watched it as a child. This is the complete box set which has not been released in the UK. I decided to take the risk on this Dutch release and I am completely over the moon. The outer box has writing in Dutch but the discs play in English - there are subtitles which you can turn off. The characters are played so well by these actors, I am sure you will end up googling the whole cast to see what they are up to now just as I have. Little Rudy was played by the actress when she was just 5 years old at the start.

We have looked at one episode and disappointed that it was in a foreign language and subtitled that we have to remove,as we had an episode one and no problem, but we are sure that it will be worth watching as it is very funny and best to watch before going to bed, have a good laugh for a good nights sleep.

This version is Dutch but plays with no issues. You can turn off the subtitles so new issues there either. The packaging isn't the best (there are 20-odd discs just stacked on top of each other in each case) but that is no big deal. If you're a fan of the show, this is the best collection of all 8 series I've come across.

Good, old-time family life and values! If all families solved problems and raised their kids like the Cosby's, the world would be a happier place! Good entertainment and good lessons to learn for all....

Que dire du cosby show, je me revois le soir sur m6 guettant le générique, laissant tout tomber pour se mettre devant la télé c'était après le 6 minutes de m6 et c'était incontournable pour moi le grand moment de détente de la famille ma mère interdiction de la déranger à ce moment là !!!!! Que de souvenirs joyeux avec cette famille qui nous à temps amuser on à grandit avec les enfants et muris avec les parents une des rares séries ou aucun tabous n'étais de mise,drogue,maternité,alcool,maladie. Tout étais aborder avec humour et sérieux!!!! Cette famille afro américaine on n'oublié sa couleur chez eux blanc noir pas d'importance vous étiez bienvenue que de souvenirs d'épisodes avec rudy théo vanessa denise sandra !!!! les grand parents adorables et notre cliff heuxtable et sa femme claire les parents fantastique!!!!! ici tous les problèmes se règle avec humour respect crainte des parents!!!! et amour surtout!!!! Qui na jamais rêver d'avoir cette famille comme voisin de palier!!! Bref que de bons souvenirs avec des moments magique que se soit en famille ou seule vous aurez la banane pour la journée steevy wonder, et pleins de guest viennent égayer si besoin est l'ambiance de cette famille qui peut être aller vous rire nous montre en image ce que nos parents nous inculquent souvent difficilement regarder ça avec vos enfants ils en redemanderont ... Une série drôle,non violente,tendre,d'une grande qualité qui ravira petits est grands!!! une époque que l'on à adorer ou les séries étais bien faites (madame est servie, notre belle famille arnold et willy,)l'age d'or des series!!!! Le coffret en lui même est très bien fait élégant comme bill cosby en smoking le clin d'oeil est pas mal .... il est luxueux tout en glossy les dvd son soigneusement ranger dans des compartiments livre qui s'ouvre le premier contient les saison 1,2,3 le deuxieme 4,5,6 et le troisième 7,8 le packaging est soigner c'est un coffret luxueux bravo m6 qui c'est appliquer!!!! le menu des dvd est super on retrouve un menu simple est bien fait les génériques originaux sont respecter par saison ils sont à eux seul un joli amuse bouche avec chorégraphie et thème pincipale qui change !!! pas de bonus mais c'est pas important vo et surtout vf respecté de l'époque avec la voix du grand jacques thebault qui double à merveilles bill cosby ce timbre de voix douce et forte et une élocution hors du commun ce comédien en autres est la voix officiel du grand steeve macqueen et de robert conrad (mystères de l'ouest,tête bruler) ... Que dire de plus à part acheter les yeux fermer vous le regretterez pas si comme moi la nostalgie vous prends et bien laisser vous emportez par cette joyeuses famille à qui ont voudrez bien appartenir Amazon comme à son habitude ne démérite pas l'expédition,l'emballage,le prix sont toujours un must merci à vous

Los menús vienen en alemán aunque se intuyen las opciones, sin embargo hay varios CDs que tienen los capítulos intercambiados, es decir, siguiendo el orden del CD avanza en la temporada y luego vuelve a poner algunos más antiguos.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but in my humble opinion most of today's TV sucks. Commedies aren't really funny anymore. Even two-and-a-half Men, which used to have me laughing my head off even despite it's more than a little sexist content, has lost a lot of the humor for me. The Cosby Show reminds me of days gone by, when commedy could be clean and still be funny. While it is true that when I ordered my copy of the 25th anniversary commemorative edition (god bless whoever decided to release this gem on DVD), at least one of the disks were damaged rendering a few episodes partially unwatchable, I've still got most of my favorites. And I may have my electronics-savy girlfriend take a look at the one disk I know for sure to be damaged and perhaps even be able to correct the problem without having to reorder. I remember watching The Cosby Show when I was growing up. I t was basically a family event. We'd sit down every Thursday night to watch the trials and adventures of the Huxtable family as they tried like the rest of us to get through life. It's of course well-known that the Huxtable's story bears a lot on Cosby's real life family, right down to Theo's discovery that he had Dyslexia, which the late Ennis Cosby also suffered with and eventually overcame. Much of the humor found throughout the series also comes from Cosby's own commedy routines, right down to the famous "Push 'em out, shove 'em out, waaaay out!" cheer which appears both on Bill Cosby's Bill Cosby Himself album and in the Cosby Show's pilot episode. All in all an excellent series well-deserving of a DVD release.

Après avoir longtemps hésité, j'ai franchi le pas de commander l'intégrale du Cosby Show, série que je regardais étant plus jeune... Premier constat: concernant le packaging, c'est vrai que c'est un format non standard, mais l'objet en lui-même est très beau! le format vinyle est intéressant, et avoir 3 pochettes dans le coffret reprenant chacun plusieurs saisons est pas mal. Comme beaucpou, j'ai eu également des dvd qui se baladaient dans le coffret mais aucun n'était abimé. (en plus j'avais lu les remarques avant et donc j'ai fait attention en ouvrant le coffret). une fois qu'on a déballé le coffret la première fois, plus de soucis (à condition de ne pas retourner le coffret évidemment!) Image et son: la qualité n'est pas toujours au top, il n'y a pas je pense de restauration du master original mais bon ça reste acceptable! jusque là 2 ou 3 épisodes sont flous au niveau de l'image Au niveau du son, c'est fou de voir qu'à l'époque lorsque les séries étaient doublées, on ne parlait pas de dollar ou de l'anglais, mais tout était traduit en francs et lorsqu'ils parlent de leur langue, ils disent le français et pas l'anglais! Concernant la série en elle-même: même si elle est vieille, je ne trouve pas qu'elle ait trop souffert du temps! d'autres séries même moins vieilles souffrent de cela mais pas là... Un plaisir de retrouver la famille Huxtable, Bill Cosby en tête! ma femme plus jeune que moi ne connaissait pas du tout, et a directement adhérer à la série! L'humour est bien présent, et disons-le... cela fait plaisir de retrouver une série où l'humour ne tourne pas autour du sexe! et où chaque épisode n'a pas ses minutes de sexe "inutile". Bref, une série que même des enfants peuvent regarder sans que l'on doive sauter des chapitres! Bref, un coffret indispensable pour les nostalgiques de la série, et pour les autres qui recherchent une série dans le même esprit que madame est servie par exemple, il ne faut pas hésiter! une série qui aura sans doute du mal à passer chez certains justement pour les raisons qui font que moi je la trouve bien justement mais bon chacun son avis...
