I Like Me! (Picture Puffin Books)

In my preschool classroom, I Like Me! has been a wonderful addition to our Creative Curriculum theme “I Like Me.” The book’s cheerful tone and positive message help children build self-confidence and celebrate what makes them unique. I learned to read using this book when I was a kid and now we have it for our kids. It’s a wonderful book. The pictures and message are positive and perfect for kids that are early reading age. The words themselves are well matched for an early reader. If you’re looking for a book you can read with your kid over and over again or a gift to a grandkid just learning to read, this is a great choice.

This book isn't a book about ego, it is an amazing "teachable moment!" It is very basic and very short. Unfortunetally, I think anything above 2nd grade is pushing it but that's not to say it can't be used in a less direct way with older grades. The cute pic loves her "round tummy," but takes care of herself by brushing her teeth and eating healthy etc. She picks herself up when she falls, cheers herself up when she's sad, and tries again when she makes mistakes. The ONLY thing missing is something about not caring about what other people think. I still highly recommend this book for all teachers and parents!!

I use this book for the first week of preschool to help the children learn about each other and develop a positive sense of self. It is easily read and understood even for my 3's. I love the illustrations. So cute! I love this book!

My daughter had this book when she was a little girl. I think it helped her learn to love herself the way she was. She is 22 now and wants another copy. I'm giving it to her for Christmas. I hope it helps to bring back the happy feelings she had about herself when she was little!

I bought this for my 3rd grand daughter for her 4th Birthday. She likes it and actually stood still to read through it with me. ( practically impossible for her 😂) Good book for teaching to like yourself no matter what.

I use this book ALL the time for my therapy groups, both for kiddos and adults. It is so well written! I especially love the "Hi Good Looking!" page and use mirrors in my groups to practice this! Thank you for writing this Nancy! It has been my favorite go-to for many many years!

Adorable illustrations and beautiful message for any young child. I remember this book from my own childhood and bought it for my daughter. Highly recommend
