More fun than should be allowed
I have only had this device for a few days, but it is a WHOLE lot of fun! Is it perfect? No, but it is really close. Here are some of the pros I have found so far with this instrument: 1) It's fairly easy to use and learn. There is a tiny bit of a learning curve. Being a flute player (the American flute, - side to side so the 'flute' fingering does not coincide with the fingering patterns on this instrument, and in fact, the 'flute' fingering is called Ditzi fingering, I believe that is a form of flute. Even though I am a flute player, I found the sax fingering much closer to what I'm used to, and only had to adjust to a few different note patterns. 2) It feels well-built and solid. 3) It is attractive and not too small or too big. 4) It has a very nice tone quality in most of the available sounds. Some of the sound choices are a little strange, but I can see where they'd be fun for a composer or for special effects. Some of them are also instruments I am not familiar with so can't tell if the sound is right or not. 5) all of the pads work well, and respond quickly to the lightest of pressure Cons: 1) For some reason the battery level indicator is always "full" it was full when I got the instrument, although when charging the light was red, but did eventually turn green to indicate a full charge. Even when using it for many hours, the battery indicator bar was still "full". 2) The rollers in the back of the unit where the octaves are changed take some time to get used to. The lowest register at the bottom for mine also does not seem to work, although all the rest do. 3) There is a "sharp" key but according to multiple tuners (all accurate on other notes) the sharp key products flats, which is fine, but there's no sharp key (or even a 'flat' key by their standards). I have not reported anything to the seller because on the whole, I am just loving this instrument, and after only a couple days of practice have found it easy to maneuver and play well enough to enjoy. I am not a pro musician, or even someone who plays locally. I only play for my own enjoyment and this device gives me that enjoyment hand's down. I am even considering possibly upgrading to the i-9, in the near enough future.

A good experience
Love the product. It has great value for the money. It is portable and the sounds are good enough. It is easy to figure out. I had to get used to the rollers but practice makes perfect. It had a few problems however, the seller and I settled for a partial refund which allowed me to buy the same i8 instrument again through amazon. I am expecting to receive it mid October. All in all; a good experience.

A Lovely Purchase
I took a chance on this EWI as I wasn't about to spend thousands on a Roland or other hugely expensive item. I absolutely love it. It takes a bit of getting used to, as the fingering is a bit different, but I find it very intuitive. I honestly don't know why some reviewers on here can't figure out how to "translate" to English the obvious. Obviously it's translated from Chinese, and when they say "hairdryer" or hair blower pipe, it's not a hairdryer. If someone can't even figure that out, they aren't going to be able to play this wonderful instrument. Their loss. A great purchase, and I'm completely happy with it.

Tried everything, can’t disable reverb.
This i8-Pro would be “fun to play,” except that I haven’t been able to disable the reverb which makes it useless to me; and the sadly weak “loudness” (or volume) cannot be relied upon to be controllable most of the time. There are reverb steps from 0 to 10, but none of those settings do anything. Reverb remains on FULL every time my hopes for this instrument are rekindled and I try again. Reverb is ridiculous for many of the provided instrument sounds, but sadly it invades them all. Possibly I’m missing something in the woefully inadequate “manual” (a folded slip of paper), but it’s too cryptic for me. On the plus side, the build quality is good, and that remains the sole reason I don’t try to return it, ever the optimist, hoping that some day its comprehension may be deciphered for us ordinary folk.

Not at all as represented
This was a Christmas gift. I just recently found out that it does not work. The instructIons sent with the EWI were for a hair dryer. Very disappointed, especially for the price paid(!) & looking for return options.

So many instruments in one small package.
I love this thing. It has a real DIN (MIDI) output that is fun to plug into other MIDI instruments like a keyboard. Also has the 1/4" and mini headphones outputs. Easy to figure out how to play.

Description was accurate
This instrument has a note on off flaw. Something is wrong with the breath control mechanism. When you blow in and play a note that note continues to sound for a period of time afterwards. I thought maybe it was due to the effects but turning off all the effects and adjusting the volume did not correct this. If when you blow in and then attempt to reverse that action that note will then shut off. Of if you tap the side of the instrument near the mouthpiece gently the note will shut off. If you gently shake this instrument you may at times cause sound to come from the speaker. I returned this to the seller with no problem. In conversation with the seller I was told that this product was being discontinued by them but not give a reason why. Further research of this product from other sources revealed this same flaw, I do not recommend purchasing this product at any price

Not as good as it's predecessor the i8
This is an instrument that would be perfect for the person trying to learn to put a written note to a musical sound during their initial stages of experimenting to understand if they would like to pursue music in their life. I had the previous non MIDI capable instrument the i8 and boy i miss it because this being the apparent upgrade, the i8 was a better instrument so far as being able to use alternative fingerings for notes such as Bb, Ab and a couple other nuance things that I'm really disappointed with. The good news is however, lol this review is useless as because both models have been discontinued for the next generation i(99). I have that one as well and although not as feature packed as the EWi Solo, the i99 is my favored instrument between it and the solo. I do own both. The solo i do believe stands for So Lonnng, lol. The i99 is a perfect balance of feel, weight verses length giving it an excellent feeling while holding it in playing position. The touch sensor layout is essentially the same as the solo however I do find playing the i99 to be noticeably more comfortable yet again it lacks some of the more advanced features. It wasnt designed to be a solo twin so i think the i99 is about as close to a perfected electronic wind instrument as you will find in it's price range. If the manufacturer could somehow update the software to where you can add the 2nd partial playing at the same time like the ewi solo, that would make it a perfected specimen for its intended price range and musician level target.

Sollte also kein Schrott sein.
