I love this series! The characters and the pet animals are very engaging. There are a lot of rescue animals - too many to name - but Keats and Percy shine.Ivy follows a fox to an adjoining parcel of land and discover a man who is clearing the land, or should I say ravaging the land. There are a lot of trees being cut down - more than a normal house building would require. What is going on here? Why was Kellan sent away right when this is happening? Is there a conspiracy going on? There is a substitute chief of police while Kellan is gone and he is a no-nonsense man who then brings in his own police officers. Poor Asher has a tough time of it with the acting chief putting him on night duty patrolling the streets.I found this story very engaging and I was engrossed from the beginning. The "bad" guys were hard to pick out because there were so many people being sketchy. I had a hard time not skimming the story to find out the end, and am so glad I did not. The new group coming to stay at Runaway Farm - a gentlemen's club - made me laugh.I don't think anyone will be disappointed in this story and I think it was my favorite so far. I don't know how she can get any better and I can't wait for the next in the series. Poor Ivy having to go to her high school reunion (which makes me laugh how her mom has roped Kellan into going with Ivy).

a very entertaining mystery

I have really enjoyed the series and I can't believe I have to wait almost a year for the next book.l am going to go through serious withdrawal, but I will try another of Ellen's series while I wait. If she only writes one a year, poor Ivy and Kellen will never get married!

This latest addition to the Bought-the-Farm Mysteries is one of my favorites. The plot moves quickly and includes the usual quirky characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the fox character, and hope we see more of her in future books. I read all the books in this series and I’m looking forward to the next one. Which will be out soon. Please keep them coming, Ellen Riggs! I am definitely a fan.

Just when you might think this series can’t get any better, Ms. Riggs proves you wrong. Fast moving, suspense filled, humor, mayhem & lots of surprises just begin to describe this page turner. As the title might indicate, yes a fox is involved. Ivy names her Veronica. Veronica helps to lead Ivy, Keats & Percy on an unforgettable mission of discovering some shady dealings going on at her adjoining property’s site that is being carried out well out of view. Of course the regulars in this series also play a big part, Jilly, Asher, Edna, Gertie, Ivy’s family & more. No spoilers here so you will have to read the book to know what happens. A very good read & I can hardly wait for Book 17!

Another lovely, fun yet dangerous adventure with Ivy, Keats, & the wholemo pack! In Ivy's life, it doesn't take a village, but it DOES take a pack! A large multi-species pack! But without Kellan to save her, Ivy still follows her instincts, & Keates', so it falls on poor Asher's shoulders! Will things slow down enough for Ivy & Kellan to get married in Peace? Well, I'm not holding my breath, because those hills are still full of myths, legends, secrets, & stashes of treasures, jewels & gold. I'm waiting to see ALL the people & ALL the animals working together on one big be all, end all detective job!

Not quite the fast, easy read of some of her earlier books. This narrative is a complex intertwining of multiple plots with a couple sub-plots waltzing through. Enjoyable with some twisty surprises. Great participation from the beloved animal menagerie and Ivy's pals. Appearances from characters we love to hate as well as some new villains. Tied up some story threads while solving a new murder and tracking down municipal skulduggery. Definitely recommend.

My favorite series of books, never dissapoints! Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing and reading into the wee hours! Thank you Ellen for another great story!

From the first I sensed a difference, yet same somehow? The stories enlightening Kellen’s past and secrets with Asher. That brought fun out of Ivy and her brothers past as kids. There was developing going on that was enjoyable. The whole series is good. Love Kellen has a plan and what it is. Well worth a read.
