Does what it's supposed to
Had to get one of these because my old Mavic Pro couldn't get the firmware update needed to stay compliant. Easy enough to register and charge, I just fastened it with a piece of strong velcro to the top of the drone and it's been fine as far as I know.

Most economical Remote ID broadcast module to date
Ever since the announcement of Remote ID and the implementation of it, I have been keeping tabs on any (affordable) available broadcast module for my Autel EVO 2 V1 that Autel refused to make compliant via firmware update. The FAA seemed to think that companies wouldn't capitalize on the need for add on broadcast modules and portrayed that they would be affordable for all well under $100. They were wrong as greed dictates a business' angle of sales. All Remote ID broadcast modules I was finding (which were only a few) were going anywhere from $150 - $329. With the fast approaching March 16th 2024 deadline, I weighed my options of biting the bullet on an expensive add on option or moving on to an upgraded model with standard Remote ID built in. Low and behold, the other week I did another Google search on Remote ID broadcast modules and this one from Holy Stone popped up... for $89! Seeming too good to be true I did a little digging and visited the FAA Remote ID compliance list. Sure enough this module was indeed listed as compliant. Without further hesitation I submitted my order and waited for it to arrive. The set up for the initial writing of the identity was very fast and easy. The app was easy to find and install on my Android device. Within minutes I had my broadcast module affixed to my EVO 2, Remote ID registered with the FAA, and I was flying in compliance with over 2 months to spare until the deadline. I am very pleased with this module and recommend it to everyone looking for a more affordable compliant device. I hope Holy Stone doesn't give in to greed and keeps their module at this price point.

Seems To Work As Advertized
I use an older DJI Mini 2 for real estate photos which needs to be remote ID compliant as of Sep 2023 (although enforcement delayed to Mar 2024). Since the Mini 2 is not upgradeable to meet the new requirement, rather than shell out over $1000 on a new drone, I bought one of these remote ID modules. It is small and light enough to fit the mini 2. You have to be careful where you mount it however, as the Mini 2 GPS module is just aft of the middle and you do not want this module blocking it. I therefore mounted towards the front on top of camera gimbal. Setup was very easy with the app and it immediately indicates it is broadcasting, although I have no way to check that it actually is. It was the cheapest self contained module I could find, and one of the smallest. So far so good. My only complaint is the velcro pad provided for mounting is very poor and the module is very loose and wobbly, it did not feel secure at all, hence only 4 stars. I substituted some finer pitch higher quality velcro. I saw one reviewer concerned that the module could not be detected with scanning apps. This is fine by me, as I do not want random people being able to detect my drone and my location when operating the drone. As long as the proper authorities with the proper receivers can detect it, then it serves it's purpose.

Great and the least expensive option for Remote ID
I'm sure most people like me are frustrated with manufacturers (like DJI) that won't provide firmware for expensive drones to comply with this new law. That being said, I needed a solution and didn't want to pay over $200 just to comply. After checking that this RID module is on the approved FAA list I thought I'd give it a try and wasn't hopeful on quality, etc. but why not. I got the remote ID unit last night and couldn't be more pleased. Setup was fairly simple after downloading the app from the app store. Once I put in the serial number, etc. and restarted the RID unit, I performed a bench test leaving it outside and it started broadcasting and immediately appeared in the Drone Scanner app. There might be a quirk in the firmware as the drone model I put in flashes in and out but that might be me. As far as I'm concerned, seems compliant to me. Will have to find a good place to mount it on the Phantom 4 without interfering with other internals like the transceiver or built-in GPS. My only concern long term is the internal battery might not be replaceable but at this price point, I'm okay with that. As long as Holy Stone is blinking, I'm flying. Well done!

I'm delighted with this RID unit!
I was on a waiting list for two other, more expensive, RID units for a month or more when Amazon recommended this one by Holy Stone. It's easy to set up with a Bluetooth phone, worked for me the first time, and has showed up on OpenDroneID, AirSentinel, and DropneScanner on my smartphone. A recreational flyer can use one of these for all the drones in their fleet that need RID. A commercial flyer needs on RID for each drone. It's very light weight, something like 12 grams, and attaches with velcro. My Air2 and now my Mavic 2s are 'native' RID compliant. I'll use these Holy Stone RID units for my Typhoons and Inspires that are not RID compliant. The only problem I had was that one of the QR Codes in the printed material led to the wrong website to download the Android app to configure the unit. I used Holy Stone's Chat feature on their website to contact them. A very helpful tech answered quickly and advised me to use the one on-line, which I did. This whole experience helps convince me that Holy Stone is better than the ordinary 'toy drone' manufacturer...
