Joan Callamazzo book club approved!
This book is chock full of the same amount of humor and heart and inside jokes and craziness as the show. Pawnee, IN is clearly the best fictional small town since Stars Hollow, CT. Actually, it's even better. Pawnee wins with the Reasonableists, the glorious rubber nipple factory, and the corporate giant Sweetums which helps makes Pawnee fourth in obesity. The book is hilariously in character, and my only complaint is that I wish it were a little longer (there was not nearly enough Turd Crapley...I mean, Perd Hapley). If you're a fan of the show Parks & Recreation, this book is a must-have and a must-read. If you like this book and haven't watched the show, WATCH THE SHOW. If you don't like this book and don't watch this show....then I feel sorry for how sad your life is. May Zorp have mercy on your soul on May 20th (plus or minus a few days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries, etc.)

I love you, Leslie Knope. That Ben Wyatt is a lucky, lucky man!
Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America is the perfect compliment to Parks and Recreation, which is saying a lot since I feel Parks and Rec is one of the greatest shows in recent history. Written in the same style as the show, featuring guest segments by each member of the wonderful Pawnee Parks Department. If only local government everywhere could be filled with people like Leslie Knope and her team. This has to be the best television tie-in I've ever read since Supernatural's John Winchester's Journal. In-show, Leslie wrote this book due to her love for her hometown of Pawnee, Indiana, "warts and all." And seeing her dedication to the quirky history of this town, along with her remarkable accuracy (which she brags about several times). Reading this, I really started to miss Parks and Recreation. Might be time for a rewatch of the entire series. Might be past time...

Hilarious!!
If you're a fan of Parks and Recreation, this book will have you laughing out loud in the wee hours of the night while your significant other elbows you in anger. It's full of hilarious factoids about the fictional town, ranging from Pawnee's sordid history with the local indigenous peoples to its flirtation with a doomsday cult in the early 1970's. A lot of the stuff in this book actually serves as a sort of introduction to aspects of this season of the show. Eg; The aforementioned "Reasonableist" cult featured in this past week's episode are covered in detail in the book, with the story of their meteoric (and drug-fueled) rise and fall, as well as "sample chapters" of Reasonableist texts and documents. It's a nifty and clever tie-in that no fan of the series should be without!

LOVE IT!
This was the perfect addition to my “Parks and Recreation” themed gift to my sister! We are huge Parks and Rec fans, so when I found this book I was super excited. When it arrived, I was more than pleased. I actually read the whole book before gifting it to her. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the amount of detail put into the book. I even found myself laughing while reading through the various articles, advertisements, etc. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

Wonderful Satire
A really fun read in the vein of The Daily Show/Colbert Report mocumentary "text"books. The writing is entertaining and nails the characters. You could tell which character wrote each piece without looking at the byline. Clever essays, clever ads, uncountable references back to every detail of the show. Not the funniest thing I ever read, but up there. Mad magazine for grown-ups. You'll believe the town of Pawnee exists in more than Leslie Knope's mind. I especially enjoyed the bitter chapter on Eagleton. One complaint: I like to keep books like this in pristine condition, but the book itself is printed on recycled matte stock, not the traditional high-quality glossy paper of similar books, so the photographs don't have the best quality, and the paper just sucks up the moisture. I left this book in a room with an open window on a day with slightly high humidity and the cover curled up and the pages are all slightly warped.

My favorite was Jean Ralphio's reviews of the bars in Pawnee
I bought this book last-minute for my Leslie Knope cosplay for Comic Con, and expected it to be more of a prop than an actual book. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it to discover that it's a full length book w/ little blurbs written in character by Leslie and other characters from the show! My favorite was Jean Ralphio's reviews of the bars in Pawnee, and his various ratings of Simantha. This reminded me a lot of companion books typically written for sci fi/fantasy book series, shows and movies. A little corny, super cute, a fun read!
