Works as intended and is quick to water absorb and hydrate...BUT...spread it really evenly and sparingly because if the concentration per square inch is a bit much in regular soil or sand (I take it was meant to be only a 5-10% soil enhancement) it will start this clumping and hardening like rubber nuggets and worsens it as it hardens around root areas or topsoil and defeats its ability for quick absorption and hydration back into sand-like gel that you find in baby diapers and create drain blocks especially in pots and water becomes gunky. I found it works best as outdoor soil enhancement (but is it micro plastic though?) or for those set-ups in pots that don't require grainy "soil" like your grow media is black-eyed bean sized pebbles or compact clay pellets (it extends water base retention a bit more - I was able to leave my lucky bamboo and spider plant together in a gallon pot to survive the month I was away neglected...with only a fifth of the leaves going yellow)

Really does expand the life of your plants and works, I do suggest you really read directions well and place it near the roots and no on top of the soil! Your plants will thrive on this and it has been soooo hot in Florida. Keeps plants hydrated.

Yes, these water crystals are awesome for plants. However, we use them to water crickets. Allow me to explain. We have a reptile room in our house, and we purchase 1,000 crickets a week. We provide food and water to the crickets so they are nutritious for the reptiles. The cricket water you purchase in stores has dyes, additives, preservatives, etc. This product just gives the crickets fresh water without the extra. A little bit goes a long way, so this jar will last us a good while. It’s also an easy and cost effective way to keep our critters happy and healthy.

This stuff is great. I can leave my plants...potted and in the ground and for a week in the Texas summer heat without worrying about them. I water half as often. Plants that I had trouble keeping alive in the Texas heat are thriving. Great for house plants too. I tend to neglect mine and with these crystals they stay hydrated without drowning. A must for pot plants.

I use my hands spreader and apply this to my lawn very lightly front and back so he can retain some of the water on the lawn when I do water because I think water restrictions are coming even tighter than the last couple years so I want to be prepared is designed to put below your plants, but I put it on My Lawn

We live in a very dry environment where summer temps exceed 100* and there is usually a 15 - 20 kts south breeze every day. Potted plants dry out quickly and need constant watering. Mixed these pellets into the soil before we planted this year and they seem to be helping hold the water. We don't have nearly the volume of water running out the bottom of the pot each time we water. Plants seem to be doing better this spring so far. 5 lb size is more than enough and should last us for several seasons.

I did a little experiment... not very scientifically because I didn't attempt to get precise measurements. But I took about a little over a teaspoon of these Water Storing Crystal's and added some water with dye (to enhance the visual). I kept having to add more water, and more water. What started out as a little over a teaspoon filled up a large soup bowl, or around 2 cups. So... this product will be great as an additive in my potted plants and in some flower beds where I have plants that tend to dry out more quickly. This will provide them the moisture they need to thrive. Or just to keep them watered if I happen to be out of town for several days. The product was delivered promptly and was sold at a good price, even a great price considering how much I paid for a tiny packet a few years ago.
