Defective product received - no replacement/refund
Rs 14,999 paid, but received a defective product. It started clicking when plugged into my desktop on Day-0. It's called "click of death" when HDD has a mechanical failure. It was dead on arrival.Amazon refused to refund or replace as it does not qualify for returns. I tried explaining that the HDD is defective, but to no avail. Rs, 15,000 just gone; or so I thought. Now, went to the Western Digital Service center for warranty coverage. They said I will get it back in 7-10 days. One day full wasted travelling to the service center. After 10 days, I plan to go for holidays. It is a total mess. The product was received without any visible damage to the package.Imagine Amazon and WD colluding to get rid of defective product this way.Looking at reviews, I am not the first one to have received a defective HDD. See the video of the click of death sound. Its risky to buy non-returnable products from Amazon. Customer now has to run around, and at the en,d I will get a re-furbhished product.

Defective HDD, Caused PC Boot Failure
I purchased the Western Digital 4TB WD Blue HDD (WD40EZAX), but unfortunately the unit I received was defective. When this HDD is connected to my PC, the system does not boot and hangs during startup. I tested it thoroughly:Changed SATA data cablesChanged SATA power cablesUsed a branded 550W Cooler Master PSUCorrect BIOS boot priorityThe PC works perfectly as soon as the HDD is disconnected, which clearly confirms the HDD is faulty.Very disappointed, as WD is usually reliable. I have now initiated warranty replacement (RMA).Pros:Genuine productGood packagingCons:Defective unit out of the boxCauses system boot failureI recommend buyers to test the drive immediately after delivery so replacement can be done within the Amazon window.

Bought on EMI, Lost My Data in 15 Days
I bought the Western Digital 4TB WD Blue hard drive from Amazon on EMI because it was too expensive to pay all at once, and I had saved my money just to finally afford it. I stored a lot of important information on it, and within just 15 days it completely stopped working — now it’s totally kaput. For such an expensive product, this was extremely disappointing. I feel like my hard-earned money was wasted, and now I’m stuck dealing with the whole replacement or refund process, and on top of that, I still have to keep paying the EMI for nothing.

Packaging is bad
I received it on 18 July they used very big box no bubble rap or anything to protect it only some cardboard strains 😑 i was very afraid it might have damaged but disk worked well i read reviews that it disconnects sometimes i will update if i get any issue disk read speed is around 290mbps and 254mbps write speed in crystal disk which is good for hard disk i have only one issue the packaging of it only otherwise if i get any issues i will ipdate

Poor Packaging Led to Hard Disk Failure
The seller did not package the hard disk properly. They only kept the hard disk inside a cardboard box without proper bubble wrap. Since the day I bought the hard disk, it was making a grinding noise. After one year, it is no longer functioning properly.

Dead on arrival. worst packaging for a hard drive. edit: replaced promptly which worked for a day
it was just sent in a paper bag. no protection at all inside. most probably damaged while in transit as it was not detected. tested in 3 working systems which wont even boot to bios when connected to this. Dead on arrival. hard disks should come in a box with secure foam or hard plastic around it. not with a piece of paper. ridiculous.Edit- replaced promptly by seller. it worked initially on first boot only to fail on second time switching on pc. but all other 3.5 HDD are working on system except this. looks like there is some serious defect in these wd40ezax builds. lost all trust in western digital which was my first choice. so many regrets buying it. when it worked first time I should have monitored it. but i stored some files not expecting it to fail on next boot and i am scared to return. eventually i will.

Amazon Worst Experience
It was not detected as soon as I connected to the system, Amazon customer service is too rude to address the issue and giving various reasons to deny the replace / return, and finally they denied the return and told to go with it as their team has confirmed that it was good when sent.

Do not buy. HDD packed like sending a potato.
The hard disk was sent with no protective packaging. Received a dead hard disk.Does not detect, with no spinning sound.

A Great Decently-Sized Everyday HDD
This is my first 3.5' HDD in a very long time. Amazon dropped it off on the porch, was worried about how they handled it (did they toss the box onto the ground perhaps?). I was kind of against buying a drive online over going to a brick and mortar store because of the fear of it getting banged (drives don't like being hit or shaken). It came in the original unopened box that was in a thin bubble pack mailer.Bought it mainly as a place to store my hobby YouTube channel content (videos, and related media), as well as for future proofing as a long-term storage option. The drive was easy to install and set up. Just mount it within your case, plug in two cables. Then, for drives over 2TB (like the 4TB I bought) you need to manually format it to work in Windows. I've never done this before and it took me like 20 minutes of online research (the manuals WD gives access to doesn't show how to do this) and then a few clicks in Windows, and voila! A brand new formatted 4TB HDD.Ran CrystalDiskInfo and it seems there are no issues, and the drive is running very well. Very silent. It has double the read and write speed of the HGST 7200rpm drive I replaced it with (my old drive was starting to show pending sector counts and is several years old). Not sure if the HGST is SRM, though. It also has nearly double the read and write speed of the other 2TB 5400rpm 2.5 inch CRM drive on my PC right now, according to CrystalDiskInfo. I was surprised that although both are 5400rpm CRM drives, the WD Blue is significantly faster. I was able to copy ~300 GB of info in like 35 minutes. The WD Blue shows about 217 MB/s read sequential, 2.20 random. 213MB/s write sequential, 2.50 random. This is for 8GB files of the size I will normally be working with.Overall, I am pleased with the new WD Blue 4TB drive. It's silent, has surprising performance, and seems to be fully functional. Time will tell whether I got a lasting drive (they say that if your drive lasts a year it will probably last many years).

A great standard
Great performance and a lot of storage. Not much to say, it's a hard drive, it'll work as expected and perform just as it always does. Put this in for bulk game storage cuz I'm running out, and still don't have any issues.
