Terrific and reliable!!
My last Crock Pot was over twenty years old before it died, so I know this new one will be with me a long time. The new one is huge, perfect for making my dog’s food, but now I can freeze twice as much. I love the size, I can prep food after cooking in the crock pot and have food in the freezer for well over a week, ready to reheat. I love it’s not a boring color! Simple to use, dump your ingredients, turn on the temperature, and walk away! I highly recommend!!

Reliable, Convenient, and Makes Meal Prep So Easy
I absolutely love my Crock-Pot. It has become one of the most-used appliances in my kitchen because it makes preparing delicious meals incredibly simple. Whether I’m making soups, stews, chili, pulled chicken, pot roast, or even desserts, everything comes out tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. One of my favorite features is being able to add the ingredients in the morning and come home to a hot, ready-to-eat meal. It saves so much time on busy days and makes family dinners stress-free. The temperature settings are easy to use, and the cooking is consistent every time. The Crock-Pot is also easy to clean, durable, and large enough to prepare meals for family gatherings or leftovers for the week. I appreciate how dependable it is and how little effort it takes to create meals that taste like they’ve been cooking all day—because they have! For anyone looking for a kitchen appliance that saves time, simplifies meal prep, and delivers great results, I highly recommend a Crock-Pot. It’s an affordable investment that quickly becomes a kitchen essential.

Great size for whatever annual Crock-Pot events
When only the Crock-Pot will do this is a good Crock-Pot. Hasn't scorched the bottom of anything. Holds a substantial portion. Travels well. Cleans as well as any giant Crock-Pot, removable liner that doesn't quite fit in a double sink. Dishwasher safe. The outside seemingly cleans up easy enough. A great value for the price point.

Good old stand-by for basic slow-cooking
Just used for the first time and worked as it should. I bought this to replace the exact same model that burned out after years and years of use. I like the fact it is no frills- less to go wrong. Also, buying the same model provides me with an extra back-up crock and lid if I want to prep meals or in case of breakage. The size is just right for our average meal for 6 persons plus a little leftovers for lunch the next day for 2. You can reach a simmer on low. The 'low' setting must also be monitored for longer cooks during warm weather as cooking temps can get higher than expected (avoid by lowering to 'warm' as needed).

Excellent Slow-Cooker...BUT NOT 7 QUARTS!
Additional information after using this slow cooker for 4 months (as of February 27, 2013): We have used this slow cooker to make our chili a dozen or so times and are very pleased. In response to some comments made by others: The stainless steel unit does get hot. Do not touch it while in use just as you not touch the side of a pot on your stove top while in use. Add water according to your recipe but consider adding more if it cooks off before completion. Stir every 15-30 minutes or so by bringing the lower materials to the surface. This will provide you with a good indicator of whether or not more water should be added. Do not fill above the lip where the lid sits. It is not supposed to fit tightly. This is not a pressure cooker. Heat and steam need to be able to escape. You may need to keep the level at or below the lip by removing some material periodically. This also provides a tasting opportunity. We never leave our slow cooker completely unattended for hours at at time. Some people do this but they are creating a situation that can result in problems. Periodic stirring is required. The only negative comment with which we would completely agree is the one about the three legs causing instability. It is easy to tip this slow cooker because it only has three legs. Never try to slide it or move it while cooking unless you lift it first. This slow cooker should be labeled as 7 quarts. It is does not have an 8-quart capacity (see details in original review). This slow cooker is labeled as 370 watts (provided in response to a question). Original review follows (October 25, 2012): We have been slow-cooking for over 20 years with a Crock-Pot brand slow-cooker and it has been reliable and free of any problems whatsoever. We have used it over 100 times to make our award-winning chili. The only negative was that it was only 4 quarts (not 5 quarts as promoted in the user's manual). Because we wanted to increase the amount of chili, we started researching larger slow-cookers and narrowed the search to a Hamilton Beach (Model 33182) advertised as having an 8-quart capacity, and the subject of this review, Crock-Pot SCV700SS, advertised as having a 7-quart capacity. Based on our previous positive experience with the Crock-Pot brand, we selected the latter. It is excellent in every respect except one. It does not have a capacity of 7 quarts. It is, and should be labeled as, a 6-quart slow-cooker. This actual capacity was determined by adding water, 2 cups at a time, until the level of water was at the lip where the lid sits onto the stoneware. As anyone who uses a slow-cooker knows, you must cook with the lid in place on the lip of the stoneware designed for this purpose. You should never add more material to the slow-cooker which raises the level above this lip. If you added 4 more cups of water (to reach 7 quarts), the lid will displace the material and overflow the stoneware. In fact, if you added even another one-half cup of water, this would cause the material to be displaced from the stoneware onto the top of the lid. Neither of these events is recommended when slow cooking. Note: 6 Quarts = 12 Pints = 24 Cups = 192 Fluid Ounces = About 5.678 Liters. This is the amount of material that can be effectively and safely cooked in the Crock-Pot SCV700SS Slow-Cooker. This is 1 Quart, 2 Pints, 4 Cups, or 32 Fluid Ounces LESS than advertised. While calling this a 7-quart slow-cooker when it only holds 6 quarts should not deter a potential buyer who is more interested in reliability and effectiveness of the slow cooking process, be advised that if the capacity is important you may be disappointed. We are disappointed but will use this slow-cooker while we continue to seek one that is actually larger and as advertised. Note also that the Owner's Guide that comes with Crock-Pot SCV700SS explicitly states the following: (1) "...always fill the stoneware 1/2 to 3/4 full...", (2) "Do not overfill stoneware...", (3) "...do not fill stoneware higher than 3/4 full...", and (4) "Always cook with the lid on...". These instructions, if followed, lower the capacity from the 6 quarts noted above to a manufacturer-recommended capacity of 3 to 4.5 quarts. This effectively makes the advertised 7-quart capacity a clear deception, not a mistake. The aforementioned Hamilton Beach 8-Quart Slow-Cooker (Model 33182) is available for review on Amazon. Anyone who has one is encouraged to post a review indicating the actual, MEASURED capacity of Hamilton Beach 33182. One current review states that "This unit IS an 8 Qt..." but does not indicate how this was determined, while another review says "...in reality I measure right at 7 1/2 quarts...". Finally, I want to again say that the quality of Crock-Pot SCV700SS is excellent and I am confident it will be effective and reliable in slow cooking. My only complaint is the false advertising which conflicts with reality and the manufacturer's own instructions.

Simple and Reliable
I bought this because I previously had one that got pretty old. Had to get rid of it because it is not meant to melt plastic! Who would think??? So I got another one. Simple to use, dependable, and a real classic. Easy to clean (as long as you don't melt plastic in it ! ) 😄 The generous 7 quarts size allows me to make larger portions. I find the cooking levels are accurate. A real blessing.

Great crockpot
I don't know if I was just excited to have a working crockpot or what since I didn't realize my old one wasn't quite working right for awhile. The directions said cook on low for 5 to 6 hours but since it was new I set the timer for 4 hours and 15 minutes to check the chicken. When I checked the chicken it was perfectly done at that time and ready to be taken out. I have used it twice in the last couple weeks and seems to be consistent. Definitely worth the value.

Cooks similar to the paradigm of older crock pots
Received boxed well with no dents, cracks or otherwise observable defects. Strengths are the size and simplicity of design with a lack of the digital fluff that drives up costs with its added fragility and high failure rates. The previous crock pot in my possession had a digital module that "bubbled out" across the face of the read-out. Yes, it doesn't have a light. Clue: look to see where the knob is turned if you forgot what you were doing after that 4th glass of wine or Jack without the ice. But whether you have a light or not, assuming it hasn't failed, you were going to put your hands on the product anyway, right, without at least a very light touch to test on either the glass or a side for heat? I don't pick up my toaster, toaster oven or egg steamer with bare hands after I finished using it without at least a light touch. There is a simple, ancient and well-tested device, known by many names and cultures throughout the ages, we now call a potholder, which might be indicated for such situations if such handling is necessary. Yes, the cords are short as a safety feature that tries to force you use the crock pot on a counter next to an outlet as far away as possible from small hands and from interference with the cord. Yes, the handles, such as they are, get hot and they are somewhat small (it's not exactly a "portable" device after all and doesn't advertise itself as such), but what I see is without the extra coatings, plastics, bells and whistles, there is very little on this unit to break (or break off) unless you want to perform a drop test or throw it against a wall. For those that complain the crock pot gets hot, I suppose you must have a floor stove that doesn't. Use a timer to shut it off if you are not at home at the end of cook time if that's your major complaint (it's actually safer as it's not subject to heat failures) as suggested by others for those that would have wanted to have the crock pot set the table for them also. All you have to look at is the KitchenAid Crock Pot that was highly rated by America's Test Kitchen as an example of a nightmare waiting to happen for those that like the fancy electronics despite their high failure rates. Here, there may be some things that are inconvenient, but really they're pretty minor when you're looking for something relatively bulletproof with good performance and longevity. I just look at this as a dutch oven that doesn't heat up the kitchen during the summer and saves money if you have an electric stove. I've had both electric and gas and feel a hell of a lot safer walking away from the crock pot for any length of time than either of the stoves with the dutch oven. I understand that a dutch oven may be in theory more precise in terms of even heating over it's entire surface when it's placed inside a stove, but the most I can say IMO is that the differences are minor based on my experience with both. I'll leave that to the Le Creuset upper crust types to argue that out with their 300+ dollar tastes. Here: Marinated 5 pound sirloin tip roast placed at room temperature on low at 5 am...roast 3/4 immersed...broth surrounding roast at 10 am read approx. 140 degrees F. There was good low temperature stability throughout process. At 1:30 pm cooked completely through on the edge of fall apart but could be cut with a fork after slicing. Broth in a meat stew with veggies (one inch cuts) ran at about 150 degrees measured at 4 hours low heat. Not to cause a fight here, but just because there may be some "bubbling" on the surface doesn't in my experience mean "boiling." Heavier liquids seem to do this more and many times I'm not reading anywhere near 212 degrees when I test. Edit: 3/28/22 ...Sometimes I make bad judgments, sometime good and sometimes as in this case a very good judgment. Still working well using it a couple of times each month. Longevity, durability & consistency in operation.
