Jarrow Formulas Jarrosil 10 mg, Beautifies Hair, Skin & Nails, 60 Capsules

I take this JarroSil and Biotin. Together the two have really improved the condition of my hair and my nails. I had fake nails on for - like 26 years. I finally got tired of going to those places. They are so filthy there!! They don't even wash their hands in between clients - let alone - use clean instruments or a clean work surface. Don't get me started. Anyways, my nails were so chronically thin - you could tear them like paper. I researched for quite a while - before deciding what to do about it. I started with THIS stuff & it definitely works. Just to let you know - I take A LOT more than it says to take on the bottle. I rip that stupid "dropper" off the top of the solution & just pour - maybe a scant teaspoonful into my morning beverage. It's fairly tasteless and I only notice the results of shiny hair and strong nails.

I have an autoimmune disease called Scleroderma. One of the symptoms is calcinosis white bumps appear under the skin mostly on the fingers. This is very painful and I have been to many doctors and wound care specialists. The same results are that there is NOTHING that helps the condition. Well I stopped in to a nutritional store. They told me that there was someone who used this jarrosil supplement for his calcium deposit on his cheek. His nearly went away after a couple of months and came back when he stopped. I have had the same results. I have taken this for a couple years now with good results. It is unbelievable! When I am not taking the product my spots swell up get painful and if punctured, a thick drainage like toothpaste comes out.The doctors will not recommend this product for this use as it has not been tested for this but I can say without it I have extreme difficulty using my hands. If you have Scleroderma and calsinosis, I highly recommend this product. Don't give up as it may be a few months before you see the difference. It is mostly noticeable when you discontinue the drops as the affliction will come right back!

I used this product for 2 weeks without any problems but unfortunately went on vacation and did not use it for the next 2 weeks. I am back from my vacation and will say that I had no nails break which is very unusual for me. This product has little to no taste and is very easy to add to any liquid. I plan on resuming use and will update product at a later date. I received this product for free or a reduced price for a fair and unbiased review.

When writing reviews for supplements, it's often hard to notice whether or not the product is making a difference until it sneaks up on you. Such was the case with this JarroSil: after taking it for about two months, I suddenly realized that my hair started growing in faster (which was noticeable because of my different-colored roots) and my skin looked smoother. I first started taking this about three months ago, but, as mentioned, didn't notice a difference until about two months in. I've been dealing with hair loss caused by some medical issues, and had read on a hair forum about how someone who was taking a silicon supplement ended up adding about a half-inch to the diameter of her ponytail. I figured I'd try it, and have since noticed that the area at my temples were my hair loss was especially noticeable is now seeing more growth. My nails are also growing faster and longer, with no breaking or peeling. I've been taking a biotin supplement for about a year, but adding this in really seems to have helped. I take the full ten drops each morning in one dose (the instructions don't say that you need to divide it up into two five-drop doses), and still have a lot left in my bottle. It has a light, pleasant taste, which makes it easy to go down. Several reviewers mentioned that this brand is more bio-ready than others, which is why I picked it up. I appreciate the positive reviews on it since they helped encourage me to try it.

The best hair supplement I had for making my hair look better and stronger. Unfortunately this product discontinued. I WISH is back on shelves :(

**NOTE: Changed from a 4-star rating to a 3-star (see update below) Prior to switching to these activated silicon drops by Jarrow, I'd begun taking two daily capsules of the product, BioSil, a few years ago. Initially, I began supplementing with it because I'd read that bio-available silicon was essential for helping my calcium supplement to effectively do its "job" for skeletal protection. It's difficult to gauge the degree of benefit, if any, that the silicon supplement provided for the calcium uptake by my bones; but my bone density tests remain good so it may be doing something there. The difference it made in my nails, hair, and skin was quite noticeable though. I'd always had brittle nails that peeled and broke easily; but the silicon supplementation made them considerably stronger and allowed them to grow out. My hair has more body and thickness at the root of the hair shaft than it did years ago. I'm particularly happy with the condition of my skin after a period of time on the silicon. Collagen, keratin, and elastin begin to decline over the years. The bio-available silicon helps your body to boost its production of these three connective tissue proteins in order to plump up your skin and remove and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. I switched to the Jarrow drops several months ago due to the significant cost savings over the Biosil capsules. So far, I've noticed no difference in the benefits I generally get from silicon supplementation so I'm hopeful that it's doing the same job that the BioSil did. In the past, if I discontinued the BioSil for a few weeks, my nails would begin breaking again. That always seems to be the first sign; but I assume that the negative effects are also beginning in my hair and skin when I see my nails suffering. I've used a number of products from the Jarrow Formulas product line and have always been pleased with their quality and performance. I take ten drops a day as recommended on the packaging. I just add the drops to a bit of water and drink them down. They have a bit of a sweet taste and aren't unpleasant to take. **UPDATE (2/24/14) -- I've dropped my rating to 3 stars. While I'm still satisfied with the condition of my hair and skin, I've noticed that my fingernails aren't as strong in the past few weeks since switching from BioSil to these Jarrow drops several months ago. There's even the start of some nails splitting and peeling just like back before I started the BioSil years ago. I'd hoped that these Jarrow drops would be a less-expensive way to maintain the condition of hair, nails, and skin; but I'm planning to switch back to the BioSil capsules.

I purposely waited a few months in order to try this. I took 10 drops of JarroSil daily in a tablespoon of MCT Oil (ALZ prevention) and I now have new hair growth in areas that were very sparse. The new hair (about an inch long right now) sticks out from my longer hair which makes my head look a bit frizzy but I can't complain! Lol! I'm 51 & going through Menapause AND I have Lupus so I need all the help I can get with hair fall out and JarroSil has helped with this as well. My nails are also stronger & less brittle but I noticed the hair growth the most.

It's quite effective at collagen increase and for aluminium detox. Lasts very long time and small dosage works well.
