⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Powerful Performance in a Cordless Package! I recently purchased the EGO Power+ CS1604 16-Inch 56-Volt Cordless Chainsaw, and I can confidently say this tool deserves every bit of the hype. EGO has done an impressive job of delivering a battery-powered chainsaw that performs like a gas chainsaw without the hassle, fumes, and noise! What Stands Out 1. Power and Precision The 56-volt battery packs a punch! I was pleasantly surprised at how easily this chainsaw handled medium-sized trees and thicker branches. The 16-inch bar is the ideal size for both larger tree limbs and smaller yard cleanup. Whether you're trimming trees, cutting logs, or dealing with post-storm debris, this saw has the muscle to get through it without the fuss of fuel and oil. 2. Impressive Battery Life and Charging The included 5.0Ah battery is robust and provides about 60 minutes of runtime under regular use, which is enough to complete most yard projects. EGO's fast charger is excellent, getting the battery back to full charge within 40 minutes, which minimizes downtime. This is perfect if you’re tackling a larger project that might require multiple charging cycles. Plus, the battery is compatible with other EGO tools, which is a big plus if you’re already in their ecosystem. 3. User-Friendly and Well-Balanced The design is lightweight yet durable, and the ergonomics make it comfortable to handle even during extended use. At around 12 pounds, it’s heavy enough to feel substantial but light enough to prevent arm fatigue. EGO’s attention to balance helps keep the saw steady, which makes it easier to get straight, accurate cuts. The tool-free tension adjustment is also a convenient feature, allowing for quick and easy chain adjustments while on the job. 4. Quiet Operation Wow! Compared to a traditional gas chainsaw, this EGO model is exceptionally quiet. It’s still powerful, but you can use it early in the morning or late in the day without annoying your neighbors—or risking hearing damage from the excessive noise gas models can produce. It’s also easier to start; no pulling cords or priming required—just push a button, and you're ready to go. A Few Drawbacks to Note Initial Cost: While the price may seem a bit high compared to some gas models, I find the ease of use, the lack of maintenance, and the overall performance justify the investment. Battery Runtime for Larger Jobs: If you have extensive cutting to do, you may need a second battery, which I had, and ending up needing for the job I had. The included 5.0Ah battery works well for most standard tasks, but larger, continuous jobs will drain it faster. Final Verdict The EGO Power+ CS1604 is a game-changer for homeowners who need a powerful yet quiet and eco-friendly chainsaw. It’s efficient, easy to use, and incredibly convenient for both beginners and seasoned users alike. With its cordless freedom, reliable power, and fast recharge time, this chainsaw is a solid addition to any home tool arsenal. Highly recommend for those looking to skip the gas chainsaw hassle but still get the same performance! Would I buy it again? Absolutely. It’s a top-notch tool that makes yard work feel less like work.

I love going to the YouTube Vlog Project Farm for product comparisons. This was not the best saw, but the best value. So I got it to go up the mountain and cut down trees without all the gasoline, oil, and tools. My trees are mid-sized 6" to 24". My $420 Stihl Woodboss locked up after 3 years. My Oregon 18" plug-in is a great saw. Wonderful close to the house. I thought a battery saw would work well enough. I have felled several trees with it now. All pine or cedar. I haven't tried hardwoods yet. I cut down two dead pine trees on the way up yesterday, then a 17" live cedar. I limbed and bucked the cedar. All that was done on one charge and an oil fill. Over an hour, maybe an hour and a half. Charging from empty took 90 minutes. On the 4th cutting trip I noticed the saw started stopping during cuts. The battery still had plenty of charge. I would stop for a few seconds and it would start back up. It does not cut like a Stihl, but pretty good. For cutting around the property it is fine. And it starts first time everytime, hot or cold with no expesive trips to the power equipment shop. I find it useful around the property. On a farm clearing a field, or in commercial construction, no way. I like dragging logs near the house where I can take the Oregon CS1500 and cut logs to woodstove size. It cuts faster, can go on for hours, cost $105 on Amazon, and is self sharpening (all be it a bit of a chain burner). The Stihl Woodboss is a beast, a $420 beast, that is hard to start in winter, goes through blade sharpenings, needs a bunch of equipment in the field, and barely out lived the warranty. If you can live with the limitations described the EGO is good buy. The pictures show the 17" cedar, the limbed trunk, and the EGO CS1604 next to the Oregon CS1500 both bought on Amazon. FYI you can pick up used Woodbosses on Ebay for ~$250 if you really need a gasoline chainsaw. I just don't bieve I got my value buying a new one

I bought the EGO 16” Chainsaw (CS1604 version) on Amazon a couple of weeks back. Yesterday (9/29/2023), my 2 sons and I cut down and cut up into logs and into burnable branches 2 holly trees, one being about 35 feet tall and having about a 14” base and one being about 20 feet tall with about a 12” base. This saw worked great on little half inch and 1 inch branches, as well as cutting the core logs between 3” to 12” thickness. I was very surprised by how well it did work. My forearm and wrist also didn’t get sore from holding the saw which was nice. Through out my life I always used mixed gas based chainsaws and like many people gave up on them after much frustration finding it impossible to get them started a second and third time and keeping them running no matter how much care I took (very frustrating). For residential home use this EGO 16” chainsaw is perfect and it adds to my EGO collection as I already use the EGO blower with 5.0 battery, so now I have 2 batteries I can rotate from the device to the charger and back again which is perfect for keeping work from being interrupted. The only issue you will have with this EGO chain saw, which is common on all chain saws, is the chain loosens over time on the bar and eventually pops off. When that occurs you must take off the side cover, clean out the gunk, get the chain back on the bar, then get the chain back on the drive wheel, then adjust the tension nob, then replace the side cover. This happened to me about 15 times over the course of about 3 hours of work. Don’t worry, you will get good at it over time. I feel EGO has made this process as simple as it can be made so no heart burn there. Once you learn the saw and learn the best way to tension the chain, this all gets easier. Again, this is a common process to every chainsaw but EGO has made it pain free as possible. It also goes through the Oregon bar oil — plan something like 1/2 to 1 quart used up in the chainsaw per 3 hours of work time. You need to constantly be checking the oil level as it goes away quicker than you think. The biggest mistake I made when I bought this chainsaw is I didn’t order the bar oil and I didn’t order extra chains. If I was to do it all over again I would buy the EGO CS1604 version again, and 1 gallon of Oregon bar oil, and 2 extra chains all at the same time. I’m so glad I bought this — would highly recommend for DIY home users. Once you remove one or two big trees on your property and get them cut up and limbs burned or chipped, then you’ve paid for the chainsaw vs. hiring out to a tree removal service, and now you get to keep a great tool for next time.

Cuts well. Uses quite a bit of bar chain oil. Battery life surprised me. Quite a bit lighter than similar size gas chainsaw.

*Update* After having this for almost a year, it quit working. It hasnt been used a lot. Probably less than 10 times. I went to use it yesterday, it ran for about 2 seconds and quit. Now, it does nothing. Battery is fully charged. Nothing is binding anywhere. Blade brake is disengaged. Nothing. I contacted Ego, and rather than providing a new unit, I am now going to have to take this to a service center that is over an hour away to get it checked out. It's sad, because I loved using it. For odd jobs around the property, it was ideal. No gas and oil. No smelling like exhaust. I guess we will see what comes of this. Until it is resolved, I guess it's back to my 18" and 12" Echo gas saws. *Original* I had been fighting with myself as to whether I should get a battery-powered chainsaw for some time and finally decided to go for it. I have two gas-powered Echo saws. One is a 12" and the other is an 18". I purchased this with the intent to use it when a full-fledged saw wasn't necessarily called for. After 3 lengthy sessions with the Ego saw, I will say I'm definitely impressed. We recently had storm damage and the first task for the Ego 16" was to cut up a large branch about 14" in diameter from an old Mountain Maple. Mind you, this was solid maple and not rotten or dry by any means. The branch tapered from 14" or so to around 8" over a 10'-12' length and then branched off from there into multiple offshoots that were around 3" and smaller. I tackled the smaller branches first to get a feel for the saw. I was impressed with the power of this thing. It handled what I threw at it with no problems. I moved onto the larger piece and that's where I was really impressed. Even though the saw lacks bucking spikes, it was easy to use the same method to tackle the bigger stuff. It ate through the maple very easily. At times I used more leverage as I would with my regular 18" saw, just to see what would happen and it didn't complain. I will say that when pushing the saw harder than I should've, it did stop momentarily 2 or 3 times. After releasing the trigger and pausing for a second, it went right back to work. The 5ah battery was a plus as it gave me plenty of juice to finish what I needed. It took me around 40 minutes to section and move the maple, and this is the only saw I used to do that. For people complaining about the chain coming off; I have never had this problem. You must keep the chain properly tensioned and make sure that the bar cover knob is tightened as tight as you can get it...just like a gas saw. If that cover knob is not tight, you're going to have a tough time with it. Of the 3 times, I've used this, it's been from a fresh battery to a dead battery and hasn't had a chain issue yet due to keeping those two things in mind. The bar oil reservoir is a little difficult to fill due to the smaller opening and the fine mesh filter, so it just takes time and patience. It does come with a heavy plastic bar sheath, which is a nice addition that a lot of gas saws don't come with. If you're looking for a lightweight saw, this is not it. With the 5ah battery, it is probably close to the weight of my 18" Echo. But, for quick cleanups, or times where a full-fledged gas saw isn't warranted, I think this saw fills the bill nicely. The only improvement at this point is more affordable batteries, but being an owner of many DeWalt battery-powered tools for my job, I know that's how they make their money after the sale. One other thing is that you will still want ear, eye, and hand protection with this saw. It isn't as loud as a gas 2 stroke but it isn't whisper quiet either. One major benefit during my maple cleanup is that I didn't wreak of gas and exhaust. I used my small Echo for a few minutes the other day and even in that time I stunk, which is just part and parcel to gas chainsaws. Time will tell as far as the durability and lifespan of the battery, but the saw feels solidly built. Give this one a try, and I think you'll be impressed. I am.
