Can this thermometer be used like a regular digital thermometer or does it work only with the app?

This Kinsa QuickCare thermometer can be used on its own - no app required.

Click the button once to turn it on, then when APP appears on the display, double click the same button and you're done!

Do you have to use the smart phone app to read the temp?

Accepted Answer

The Kinsa QuickCare smart thermometer can take and show temperature readings on its own, BUT there are some things you should know if you don't want to use any smart features.

Out of the box, QuickCare shows "APP" on the display. This prompts you to connect with the Kinsa app before it will let you take readings. In a pinch, you can temporarily skip this APP message and take readings immediately by quickly double pressing the button. QuickCare will go into temperature taking mode and allow you to take readings. For a quick demo, watch this video: kinsa.help/skipAPPmessage

But this is not how QuickCare was designed to work. If you're looking for just a simple thermometer without any smart features, this smart thermometer may not be a good fit for you.

Question 3

What’s the best way to clean this so not to damage the thermometer if sharing amongst the family?

Accepted Answer

You can clean the probe before and after use with a damp, soapy cloth or by disinfecting it with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol). Then, just wipe it dry with a soft cloth and you'll be all set!  We hope that helps.  :-)

Does it measure in degrees Celsius?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it certainly does.  To change units on your thermometer, press the ON/OFF button twice in rapid succession while the thermometer is turned on.  To change the units used in the app, click on the “Menu” icon and select the “Settings” icon.  An icon will be displayed to indicate which mode the thermometer is in.  Touch the icon to switch modes.  Hope that helps!
