So, as you are already aware, yes these are stinky. However, if they are responsible for Tohbi's incredible progress, then it is a small sacrifice for me to put up with the smell for a minute a day. Tohbi is a 15+-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, who has had TPLO surgery on his left hind leg (2022) and a modified figure 8 surgery on his right hind leg (March 2024). Tohbi's pre-surgical bloodwork for his most recent surgery showed that he has liver disease, which is not unusual in older dogs. After his surgery and during his recovery, his appetite was waning. To complicate matters more, Tohbi seemed lethargic and somewhat depressed. Enter Natural Dog Company Stinky Liver & Kidney Supplement Chews. Now, Tohbi being a rather fussy eater, I need to slice these into fours and hide each slice in something that he loves in order to get him to eat these. After several months of getting one of these per day, Tohbi's appetite is better, he is no longer depressed, and he is much more active than he had been. I intend to update this post after his next veterinarian visit, during which we will have his liver and kidney values reevaluated. Stay tuned.

I bought one container of this product from our local pet store. I noticed the unpleasant smell, but my dog didn't refuse it, so I ordered a container on Amazon. After a few days of using the product and before Amazon shipped it, the smell went from being bad to horrible and impossible to tolerate. I returned the container I bought in my local store and tried to cancel the one on Amazon. They refuse to cancel it. The producer doesn't accept returns. This is the first time when Amazon has refused to reimburse customers for products of unacceptable quality.

LIVER&KIDNEY: It’s true they do have a funky smell. And my dog did eat them. But I after a few days I noticed a problem. My dog was having an allergic reaction to the Liver & Kidney chews. And I feel so bad I didn’t catch it. They are made with Safflower oil, and I know my dog is allergic to it. But I didn’t see it in the inactive ingredients. It’s completely my fault. I wouldn’t have bought them had I noticed. So I have to stop using it. But I still think they are good chews. And my dog still wants to eat them lol. Because he’s a food monster lol. (next day) HIP&JOINT: Today I gave my dog only the Hip&Joint chew. And he is having the same allergic reaction. I don’t know what he is reacting to. Because the Hip&Joint. They do not have Safflower oil. But they do have Sunflower lecithin. I don’t know if that means anything. It’s so frustrating. It’s not the company’s fault. It’s an allergic reaction.

Smells like team spirit!

I had hoped I found a good product to help my dog's kidneys and liver. These chews are WAY TOO STINKY- my dog spit them out and he eats anything! I tried to return them after many web site attempts, calling Amazon only to be denied. They told me this was an item I couldn't return even though the pricing indicated return until Jan 31, 2025! Then the "customer service" person insisted I call the manufacturer to get satisfaction. I then tried calling the Natural Dog company about their liver and kidney stinky chews. They refused to even exchange for another product. Said I'd have to deal with Amazon!! I'm disgusted over spending so much time on this terrible product! I'm still put $25-30...

My vet recommended a liver supplement for my dog as he is on a prescription med and his liver enzymes are high. I tried this product. First off, it smells horrible. The odor almost knocked me over when I opened the product. Thinking my dog would actually like the smell I put one in his food, but he doesn’t like it either. I tried to send product back but was told it wasn’t eligible for a refund. Having initially giving this product a 1-star rating due to this, I made another attempt to get my dog to try it. I eventually succeeded. Whether it works or not remains to be seen.

I got these for my senior dog who needs liver supplements. Initially he would eat them, but as time goes on they begin to smell worse and worse every day and he now refuses them. I was going to throw them out, but I saw that they are also supposed to be good for itchy dogs. So, I decided to try them with my dog that has itchy allergies. So far he's willing to eat them. We'll see whether he continues. So, four stars for the ingredients, but it loses three stars for the stench, and then gains a star for my one dog being willing to eat them.

Been giving these to my husky over the last year after he suffered a yeast infection which caused him to have itchy flaky skin. He likes the taste so a nice treat for him, and interestingly his skin complaint started to come back when we stopped giving them to him for a while.

Covered in peanut butter and sometimes he will eat it. Hoping it helps his health.

Cannot comment on quality as my dog would not come even near these vitamins - they stink so bad there’s no way they can even be hidden in food. The moment you open the jar an entire room starts stinking. Also, BUYER BEWARE - the item description states that these are eligible for returns but they actually are not. I had to get customer service involved to get my money back.

I was totally disappointed with these chews. My dog had been diagnosed with kidney disease and I was hoping they would help her. She would not touch them.
