Superb organic Tahitian plump Vanilla Beans!
So these are really nice plump, fragrant, fresh vanilla beans. I have some soaking in good quality Svedka vodka which is very similar to Grey Goose but less expensive. So, about five ounces vodka in smaller glass jar and I added 7 of the beans split down the middle. You really only need one bean per ounce of vodka, but I want a really rich Tahitian vanilla. Every few days I give the bottle a few shakes to activate more release of the bean into the solution. It has been only about 3 weeks and already the color is darkly vanilla brown, and the fragrance is nice. Typically takes a few months to mature, but I added a couple extra beans, so it is maturing faster. Should be perfect for Christmas baking. I also did an experiment using a fresh bottle of Nielsen Massey pure vanilla extract. I added one of the Tahitian vanilla beans, again split lengthwise down the middle, to the bottle of the Nielsen's...and it really improves the Nielsen's; within just a few weeks the fragrance is beautiful. Made Caramel Custard using it and, Oh my, really delicious! Very happy with these Tahitian Vanilla beans, and the price is excellent!

Old and dry
The Tahitian vanilla beans i purchased were dry as a bone. They should be moist and supple. they come vacuum packed so it is hard to determine if they are good until you open the seal. When attempting to cut them to make vanilla extract they snapped in half. The expiration date was 12/1/26 but these were completely dried out.

Dry and brittle
They were dry and brittle. I couldn’t split them to put in my vanilla! I wanted to give zero stars but it wouldn’t let me.

delicious floral noted vanilla
These beans are wonderful, strong smell of orchids right through unopened package. Used for crème brûlée, much better than any extract. Very nice that these are no longer $25 per bean like they used to be. Before this I used extract but the alcohol does not bake out, I don't like the feel of alcohol, Then I tried non-alcohol extract and that felt much worse than the alcohol version, so real beans are the way to go. I store them in a small thermos, near the floor so they stay cool.

No easy to cut open
These beans were very hard. I had a difficult time cutting them open. I did like that there were 3 beans in the package. I didn’t need 25.
