Under the sink leak detector

First, before order the sensor i download the handler on the Homeseer web page, then installed the handler on my IDE handler, easy instructions too. when get the leak sensor was very easy to pair and SmartThings recognize the Z-wave sensor with the name of Homeseer water leak sensor and recognize the battery too. Test it and works well.

Did not work with Vera Smart Home system.

I bought 3 of these and only one would sync with my Vera Smart Home system and that one would not detect a water leak. Its too simplistic with no indicators showing its status, etc just 1 LED light. There must be a Smart Home water leak detector that is compatible with Vera that actually works, I just havent found one yet.

Paired right up with homeseer3

Paired without problems with homeseer3. Kind of expected since it is the same brand. It’s a nice little device that’s kind of difficult to open as other have stated.Hopefully the battery will last a while so it will not become a issue. This thing reports pretense of water, temperature and MOVEMENT. !!There is also a temperature alarm like for a frost warning. This sensor could be used to monitor if something gets moved with the help of the tempering sensor.I lifted it up and it reported it.Quite cool.I will order another one for the garage where our water heater is located to keep an eye on it.Battery shows 99%.I will update the review once the battery starts to run down lower. I left all settings a default.

Doesn't work right out of the box.

If you use a Smartthings hub, this will require you to use the device handler (copy-paste code, etc.), which is just unnecessary and dumb. If you try pairing in the app--as with other, better designed devices--the hub thinks it's a motion sensor.Just save yourself time and use your money to reward competent designers by purchasing a water sensor that works (and pairs) right out the box.

Design flaw leads to VERY slow update

It detects water, was easy enough to adopt in the network, but I'm very disappointed with the low floor clearance provided by the short detector pins. When water reaches the sensor on a flat surface (concrete in my case), the lack of clearance means the water beneath the sensor takes many days to dry and clear from the pins. This means even after a leak is long over, the sensor remains wet for a very long time (days). If I'm in town, I can dry off the sensor, but if I'm out of town, the sensor isn't very helpful once tripped.

Works, after some fiddling

I found it rather easy to get started and on the network, like most Z-Wave devices you just need to know how to initiate and then search for it. I found it odd that nowhere is the LED color documented. It flashes colors and patterns but it's all nonsense because the user docs don't tell you want it means.I had trouble getting it to report moisture after dropping the sensor in water. My Home Assistant showed the device was asleep and even after doing 4 clicks to wake, there was no report of water. Finally, I noticed that the board was not secure in the little puck thing and the leads were too short to actually reach the back of the magnetic base. If I pressed the board, boom! I got alerts. There's a little pad on the inside of the cover ostensibly to press on the battery to hold it in place, but it was misaligned with the battery and the battery was too low compared to the lose top of the board. I looked around and ended up jamming a felt furniture pad in there to add more pressing and it seems to work but I don't feel super comfortable about my hack. Kind of disappointed.

Great leak sensor.

Had a hard time pairing with my home assistant but once I did and figured out how it all works I love it. I now have 5 of them. They detect water, movement, temperature, and a battery indicator. They all work flawless. Only grope is that one of them had a battery only at 65% when new. The rest were at 100% or close to it. Easily one of my favorite new ad ons.

So far so good

Recognized and paired with Smartthings after publishing the device handler in the IDE. I like the dual nature of the unit, usable with a wired probe or just by placing the body. Nice compact unit, not as small as the Smartthing's very small leak detector, but I was not happy with the reports of failures with that one. Range is fine from my basement sump pump to the ST hub. I've tested both the probe and body detection and they work fine. The probe adapter unit is magnetically held to the body. I have an Iris-based Utilitech detector from Lowe's that I got on sale that uses 3 plain alkaline AA batteries, which is convenient. This one uses a 14250, 1/2 AA, lithium battery. I was not familiar with the 14250 form factor before this, and it isn't as widely used as a CR2 or CR123A, so take that size into account. I test all my leak detectors every few months and will update this review in the future.Add 12/27/19: The ST app is reporting the batteries at 1%, but they're done, unit is dead. New battery in, it fired up and detected fine.
